No I haven't. Went to Borders (crap) but din;t have it and didn;t have time to get anywhere else. Will try tomorrow in local waterstones but I doubt it... not a very cultured lot my neighbours tbh.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/06/2009 20:59

oh, i thought you were going tonight!
don't know whether to go to bed, carry on eating toast and jam or mumsnet...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/06/2009 20:59

when are you going rosa? has franca gone already?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 21:08

franca's tomorrow I think. Rosa today?

stay for 5 minutes. I'll have a jam toast too and then go back to this blaaardy packing - UFFA.

Good thing: DD2 really happy at childminder now. An improvement.

Also tonight DH is not home. So I did lots of chores but in peace, no telly so the silence was priceless etc. I was just thinking "see all I need to feel human again is some time on my own in my own house to do my own things" when dd1 cried and wanted to come down because she was angry. I could have cried.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 21:18

If you don;t come back in the next 5 min I'm gone....

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/06/2009 21:26

i am here, off to bed soon as dp watching Lo scafandro as he missed it last night, it is such a good movie, i reallly reccomend it....

you sound a bit stressed, make sure you ask lots of time to yourself on holiday...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 11/06/2009 21:28

mi ricordo delle polpette che mi sono mangita a corfu...
che libri ti port?
hai finito P&P?

gio71 · 11/06/2009 21:41

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 21:51

si sono proprio stressata ed esaurita.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 21:51

senza dubbio.

francagoestohollywood · 11/06/2009 21:56

Pippi, what's the matter?
Hope you have lovely holidays. We are off on sat.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 11/06/2009 22:08

I often feel like that just before leaving for somewhere, like you are really at the sgoccioli!
Enjoy Crete, I love all things Greek, you lucky thing!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 22:09

nothing, just in desperate need to have some time on my own. Doubt I'll get it on this holiday, which will be nice nevertheless. But I'm determined to be a lot more selfish there and once we come back.

I am quite of your holiday allo sbaraglio. One day...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 11/06/2009 22:09

sputnik spot on: all'ultima goccia!

Camomilla · 11/06/2009 22:24

I think packing is one of the most stressful things! especially for 4! and I keep on changing my mind, take things out, add stuff at the last minute "just in case", despite having done a list weeks before... this time it'll be even worse as we're leaving on the first day of school hols! and the w-end before we'll have DS's b-day party, which we still haven't organised (all his classmates seem to have done theirs at a leisure centre, inviting all 30 of them... don't have the money, but at the same time we have to make up for last year, boh)

pippi, be selfish, just pretend to be deaf... think of you on the beach, big sun hat, a book in one hand, a cocktail in the other

thank god DP's back tom, DD's a nightmare, she wriggles everywhere, I'm having to wash DS with one hand and the other on her trying to keep her from falling off the changing table, feel like Mrs Incredible/Elastigirl!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 12/06/2009 10:28

Yep, my dd2 is wxactly like that. yesterday she tried to jump out of the supermarket trolley when I turned my head for a millisecond!

Packing for 3 not 4! No way I am packing for DH. The day I do that please shot me!

feeling a bit better today maybe because I am going to close suitcases and that is it. Yes Camo I do the same: promise to self not to bring too many things, put a million of things in, especially for the dds, panic that I put too much, take a couple of things out, think "oh what's the difference" put them in again, then on hloiday realise that I've got a million of one thing and none of another. This time though I feel like a proper mum, for the first time in my life I've packed away some medicine, never done that before ! Also I'm so used to go with Ryanair that I automatically pack a15kg suitcase. We've got 23KG this time which feels such a excuse to bring more crap treat! Doubt it will all fit in the car.

Penthesileia · 12/06/2009 11:41

Have a lovely time, all you lucky folk off on holidays. Will be thinking of you.

Pippi, I hope you get some time to yourself.

Rosa · 12/06/2009 13:11

We off tom ...if we ever get there that is . Dh was up at 4 am to work home at 7 he took some stuff to the car with dd ( its parked in the parking area in Vce) and they went to get some petrol and on the way back a light started flashing . On looking closer at home _ cos that is where the manual was It is something on the emergency panel. The car was given a FULL service a month ago with 4 new tyres ready for the hols - Dh has raced back to try to see if our mechanic can see it if not it will be Audi - if again they can fit it in am thinking $$$$$$$ . Its Friday afternoon in Italy ...Enough said.
Thankfully we are only going local and we could do it via boat and taxis etc - DH said reduce the stuff so just take essential and he can bring more over on a second run but I have been so super organised that all the extras are in the car and I have clothes and anything else I can cram in in 1 bag left !!
My house looks like a bomb has hit it. I have to do some mending -stuff needed for hols a fried is coming round - not seen for a year , have to finish packing but the dds are asleep Oh and the cleaner is coming as she changed her day ! So I best toddle off. Dh was going to get the chiavetta thing but he hasn't so I have to do that as well later !

francagoestohollywood · 12/06/2009 13:43

I can see we are all a bit stressed.
I haven't been home much in the last 3 days and it's a mess... and I haven't even started packing . All the camping staff is already in the car boot. I now need to pack the rest . I sort of follow a well established list: 5 pairs of mutande, 3 tshirt, 1 long sleeves shirt, 1 felpa, 1 k way, etc etc. I always forget something, which gives me the welcome opportunity to shop local . For instance, I've just realized I haven't bought a suncream.

Rosa, I hope your family car won't need repairing.

I wish you all a great time , I'll miss you!

Hope you can sort your car out Rosa, it must be such a pain too ferrying everything to the car park on the mainland.

Franca I pack like you!

Lovey Sputnick?

Happy holidays to franca, rosa and pippi, hope you can all find some peace.

Rosa · 12/06/2009 21:27

Car ok - house still a tip the bags full
Sputnik if I had a garden it would be all yours !!!!

Right off for Camomilla doppio....I have the chiavetta for internet so am hoping to log in when children asleep as housey duites will be fewer ( me thinks stupidly !)

I must be mad I have to do this all again twice but unpack / wash and re pack in the middle !!!!

Sputnik · 12/06/2009 21:43

I have been practicing loveyness all day too McC
Glad your car is sorted Rosa. Have a great time all of you, it will be quiet on here!

It was last day of school for the scuola d'obbligo today, cue massive waterfights everywhere. Do they do that in other parts of Italy too?

Camomilla · 12/06/2009 22:04

yes, sputnik, always got drenched and congrats, I'd love to have that garden...

Have a great time, vacanziere!!

DP and FIL arrived this afternoon - first thing DP said as he walked in, before his dad was even inside, was "need to book his return ticket tonight" . FIL is one of those people allergic to silence ... DD started crying her eyes out for ages when she saw him, but he's been insisting on holding her, obviously as soon as she gets closer to him she starts again... she was soooo happy to see her daddy though
