welcome!

OP posts:
Camomilla · 15/06/2009 14:24

no, no, no, MM, this is the right place to moan!!! and you said "think" so not yes yet... or is he happy with number 3 then

oh, no franca, hope the foot gets better!

McM, got a nice pair of white trousers out the other day, starting getting dressed, but couldn't do them up! and haven't been able to keep up my apts with davina this last week.. and now I'm trawling through the net looking for instructions on fixing cars for DP... better get back to it...

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 15:10

Yes MM, come and have a rant whenever you like, no problem.
I am sypathising with summer wardrobe issues. I have managed to lose 2 or 3 kg but unfortunatly I still have another kg to go just to be where I was last summer. Then I have to make a start on the rest, sigh.

Trieste, we drove through on the way to Croatia and I've always regretted not stopping.

Penthesileia · 15/06/2009 15:13

MM - we've all been moaning, so you should feel free to do so too! Sorry things are still not right.

Argh - is rain on it's way?

DD woke up at 3.30 this morning for no apparent reason . And didn't go back to sleep til 5.30. Yawn!

Hope everyone's ok.

I tried to go to a museum last week. But DD foiled my plan. Will try again tomorrow!

Bucharest · 15/06/2009 15:20

Hello everyone!
Blimey, it's hot here innit!
(not as bad as most Junes I have to admit...)

Finished PON media school thingummy- went to finishing party and ended up on local tv on Saturday lol- and forgot to take my bouquet of flowers home....oh well....The kids did really well in their exam and hopefully I've made enough of a good impression for next year to be a shoo-in....

Skimming the thread quickly- don't kids have to do the first year of superiore? I thought that was where the new obbligo ends?

Dd has "graduated" from nursery and daddy's home-made cake costume was splendid and much better than the professionally made bietole/fagiolino/prezzemolo which all looked the same...

I'm here for another 2 weeks and then off to work with the French in England for 8 weeks...

Hope everyone is well, what's Franca done to her leg?

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 15:31

My DS woke at 5.45 this morning.
And I blame that for the fact that I forgot it was his birthday
We did his party and presents weekend before last and it just seems ages ago now.

I also arrived 15 minutes late to pick DD from school, as I was convinced the time for 1/2 days was 1.30, not 1.15. They had phoned my MIL (seems they don't have my cell phone, although I know I gave it them...) to try and get hold of me!

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 15:37

Hi Bucharest, congratulations on your teaching triuphs and DD's graduation. Did they all have to dress as food then?

Bucharest · 15/06/2009 15:42

Yes- the recita was called Nutrilandia...rather cruelly the really tubby little girl in the class was a lettuce who had to recite a poem about "not exaggerating with grassi"

Happy Birthday for mini-Sputnik!! Hope he has forgiven you! We went to a bonkers party on Saturday (I did half and half- half at school party and half with dd) in a very posh apartment with a swimming pool in the flat! (still backed onto the railway line though)

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 16:06

Recita sounds cute
DS is totally oblivious, luckily!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 15/06/2009 20:02

lol at nutrilandia with largish girl.

MM come and moan, will you at least get an MBA out of it? Do you know how long you will stay for? Incredible how people's life can change so quickly....

Are any of you readings...

Penthe, have you found a nanny? It must be odd interviewing..

I wish i was in Puglia too, rather grey in London, at least it's warm...

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 15/06/2009 20:03

Sputnick i always forget birthdays...

Penthesileia · 15/06/2009 21:16

Happy Birthday, miniSputnik (Sputnikino?)!

No nanny yet - quite a few applicants. Interviewing next week or so (DH marking this week so too busy). Quite nervous, actually.

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 21:41

Oh I like Sputnikino
Or Sputniketto.
Once he was Baby Sputnik, but as he is actually the size of a 3 year old I can't really say that anymore.

Good luck with the nanny.

Camomilla · 15/06/2009 21:44

buon compleanno sputnikino!

got flooded again tonight, though just the porch luckily, no repeat of 2 years ago! it ony rained for a little while though, up until 5.30 we had a really good day despite the grey start! why would they build houses LOWER than roads , really, doesn;t make any sense, on top of that, why would you not connect the house drains to the road ones ...

penthe, did you rip the nanny ad and throw it in the fire?

Camomilla · 15/06/2009 21:49

sputnikino is more toddler-ish cutie for me, sputniketto more little boy, don't ask me why... sorry, I'm on my 3rd glass of wine (see, trying to drown the thought of who's sitting in the living room) so apologies if I don't make much sense

Sputnik · 15/06/2009 22:05

Ok, when he's a bit bigger we'll move on to Sputniketto.
When he's a teenager he can be Sputnikello

Only 9 days to go now Camo!

gio71 · 16/06/2009 06:37

8 days Camo , see we're all here with you.at you turning to the booze to cope with FIL
MM please come back and moan, this is the place to do it and you are facing rather large life change, moaning very justifiable. Have you thrashed out a deal? (baby, mba??)
Franca hope your foot is ok and you are having lovely time.
Happy B'day Sputnikino. Lol at forgetting it, would be kind of thing I'd do.
Happy graduation mini Bucharest.
Fuzzy head this morn, had meal out with friend last night, indulged on vino and for some reason when I go out without ds I revert back years and instead of my odd sneaky cig I chain smoke! And regret it the next day. Lucky I don't go out much I guess.

Penthesileia · 16/06/2009 11:36

Hooray @ fab costume, Mr. Bucharest.

You can do it, Camo!

LOL @ hard-partying gio! You need Irn-Bru, some Monster Munch, and 2 Nurofen. (Penthesileia's patented Hangover Cure TM. )

Bucharest · 16/06/2009 11:46

Full fat coke and fried eggs on toast (Bucharest's hangover cure, although have forgotten what hangovers are...)

Very cross this morning as italcogim have sent nasty letter final reminder thingy but to my recollection we haven't had a bill.....argh....also student's mother told me my prices were "exaggerated" and next year she wants a "pacchetto" whereby she sends kid to me more, and I get paid less. As a businesswoman surely she can see that that is hardly likely to get me singing and dancing?

gio71 · 16/06/2009 12:19

oohhh dont torture me with talk of Irn Bru. WHY don't they sell Irn Bru in Italy??
Am doing pasta (for a change) when all I want is
A) Pret baguette with pack of crisps and apple drink
or
B) Greggs sausage roll or pie and cake
or
C) Chippy with gravy
If wasn't so hot I'd walk down to Mcdonalds.

Bucharest · 16/06/2009 12:36

Crisps
Greggs
Chips
McDonalds all in one post......Gio- are you sure you're a Mner?

Chips in gravy with loads of vinegar....heaven....

Rosa · 16/06/2009 13:20

Sputnik · 16/06/2009 14:15

Yay Rosa posting from your sea-view terrace, I am . Could do with some beach myself.

I have obviously been in Italy too long as I find the idea of good old limp British chips totally boakworthy. I actually went to Harry Ramsden's a couple of years ago in a fit of pregnancy-induced nostalgia, it was revolting. Even DD refused to eat the chips!

gio71 · 16/06/2009 14:46

lol at doubting my Mner credentials Bucharest. All foodstuffs I wouldn't normally think of unless I had alcohol needing soaking up in my stomach . Sputnik whenever I go back to the UK my first meal is always fish, chips and gravy. And everytime I am disappointed and end up unable to finish them and with indigestion. Don't know why I persist, nostalgia??
Very [envious]of seaview Rosa

gio71 · 16/06/2009 14:47

Sputnik · 16/06/2009 15:13
