Ciao, welcome!

OP posts:
Rosa · 28/05/2009 14:45

No we are happy for them to share but the kitchen is not big enough to 'live in full time' the salotto is too small for us to live / play etc and we can't move the wall of the larger bedroom adjacent to make the salotto larger as its a muro maestro.
NOt really bothered about a superb view but 2 walls is a bit much the wall at the front is about 2 m away the back a bit bigger . The Venditore said it had a view of the gardini delle suore if you had a periscope maybe !

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 28/05/2009 19:49

ItalyhereIcome I remember getting Microgynon back in my youth, so it should stuill be the same. As per how to get it I haven't got a clue but Rosa's info sounds perfect.

How disappointing Rosa! Usually is those houses you go to see expecting nothing that ends up being 'the one', no?

francagoestohollywood · 28/05/2009 20:21

Hei Pippi, how are things?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 28/05/2009 20:39

okeyish. DD2 has had some breathing problems. It seems they might be caused by an allergy to pollen/hay/horses etc something to do with fields in any case as recently everytime we went to a farm or suchlike we ended up taking her to A&E because she was so distressed. It is only this time though we managed to pin point the reason of her distress and the possible cause when DH insisted it wasn't a stomach ache thing (like I insisted ) but a breathing issue and we gave her a couple of puffs of Salbutamol (sp?); in two second she was fine. We still ended up in A&E as what we were giving her wasn;t an enoug dose. Now she has to take a bit for a week and then go for some allergy tests which I bet won't be pleasant for a 14m old. Oh well...

Except for that it's all fine. No news from schools but having a great time. Friends came over from Italy and we had a blast, especially the dds and all id well.

You?

francagoestohollywood · 28/05/2009 20:58

Oh dear, poor dd! Is it like an allergic asthma? I hope the testing gets to the bottom of the problem.

Glad to hear you had a lovely time with your friends.

Here it's very hectic. Lots of commitments. Silly me has even volunteered to act in a little show set up by parents at dd's scuola materna summer fete...

I also want to buy a tent, and get all organized for we are going camping in Istria. Dh is boycotting me, trying to be spartan . I'd even love a little basin to do the washing up... it's going to end in tears

italyhereicome · 29/05/2009 00:27

Hi Rosa and Franca. Thanks for the advice.

I asked very nicely at the doctors and got a years prescription

Franca, in the UK, contraceptive pills are available on prescription, but they are free!

gio71 · 29/05/2009 07:24

Sputnik thanks for the invite! May well take you up on that - oh and dream house is amazing, love the bedroom.
Rosa-gutted re house for you. House hunting is really the most soul destroying thing ever!
Pippi re dd2 - poor little thing, hope they manage to pin point what the allergy is.
Franca you are so brave acting in a play and am interested in your camping idea, I am getting so disillusioned with trying to find an apartment for a holiday I may go the tent route! Only thing is-wouldn't in be massively hot sleeping in a tent in summer?
Need another coffee-had very heavy few days (but lovely) with my brother and his wife out for the football, they have gone this morn so bit but also at idea of early night and no alcohol.

Sputnik · 29/05/2009 11:21

We should definitely organise it Gio, the train out here is only 45 minutes from Tiburtina.

Signing the mortgage papers was pretty soul destroying too, but house hunting, yes we saw so many dumps, I think we viewed about 25 places this time. There was one place really nice, big, quiet etc. Shame about the massive electricity pylon right next to it.

I just remembered I wanted to ask you Gio, didn't you order a sofa from Ikea and have a few problems with delivery? I want to order one soon as they're doing a 15% off offer but as we're not living in the house I'd need to know exactly when it's going to be delivered so we can be there.

gio71 · 29/05/2009 11:51

yeah sputnik had a nightmare with them but I think it was because I was told I could add to the order a few days after initial order without it effecting delivery date which wasnt the case! Plus I was ordering a houseful of stuff so more coordination needed. Re your situation should be fine because they will call you a few days before due to deliver to arrange day so you can arrange to be there

Camomilla · 29/05/2009 14:53

oh, pippi, hope they find out soon what she's allergic too

3rd day of the gas saga, so our trip to london eye and nhmuseum has been postponed, feel horrible as we've been promising DS for ages ... they were meant to start wed, well, they did, in the other houses, then they had to come yesterday, but they ran out of time, so they did it this morning (and at one point it looked they'd have had to dig up the hall, which would have meant re-tailing the whole kitchen/diner/hallway as the tiles are now discontinued, so phew). still no gas as s.one was meant to be back in a couple of hours to reconnect the meter (a couple of hours from 9am )

italyhereIcome, have a good time!

Rosa · 29/05/2009 18:58

Pippi what a nightmare hope you find the cause and its not too traumatic for you all .
We had a huge wind again round lunchtime I dried 2 sheets in 2 hrs and then a bed cover in another hour - held it on with 10 pegs !!!
Its cooler now in fact minirosa is in her grobag again its only 1 tog with a vest but she needs it.
SOme of dd friends finised nido today - we have 2 weeks before we go to teh spiaggia and I am so not organised as I have to get everything planned mentally for the entire summer ....NIghtmare !
Franca yes a bowl for washing up - purely so you can carry evryething to and from the sinks !

francagoestohollywood · 31/05/2009 18:07

Gio, it depends on where you go. I camped in Yugoslavia (in hvar) and it was fine, as the camping site was in a massive pineta. I camped in Greece and Crete (August)and it was fine. I camped in Sicily and some places where fine others were totally hot (never ever go to lido val d'erice). I suppose the main reason was that I was younger, and I didn't suffer the heat.
I'd recommend Corsica, as some camping sites are in the mountains and the temp might be cooler!

gio71 · 01/06/2009 09:32

Bucharest helloooo are you there?
Would you mind sharing your Puglia knowledge? What is Peschici like? Recommended for 2 weeks in August? Found a little town house there that looks nice and decent price. Is the beach good for small kids?
Thanks for camping info Franca- I am having problems convincing DP- he did point out that the one and only time we went camping overnight we had a one man tent we were incapable of constructing and had to ask friendly looking fellow campers to do in the end . He pointed out that we are meant to be going for a stress free 2 weeks and maybe wouldnt be best start.....
As long as it doesn't last I must say am quite happy re rain and wind today, nice change!

Rosa · 01/06/2009 13:42

Bit quiet round here today - we had wind and rain yesterday and 30 boats out of 1500 in the vogalongs tipped over poor people it was a hell of a day !
Hazy and cloudy here but its fresh ...lovely .
Dh working and will be more as commune ( bast**ds) have changed the shifts with an e mail message on Friday to start on Monday - for me its against the law as it is BIG time / and day changes but we know that they are doing it just to annoy people and make things as hard as possible for us all ..Well they have done that !
Onwards and upwards and roll on the beach holiday.....

Bucharest · 01/06/2009 13:50

I am indeed here- briefly, as am dashing off for penultimate lesson at scuola media 4 hrs with one class- is so not going to go well...Gio- I love Peschici and would move there tomorrow- dp is grunting from the kitchen that I'm to ask you what zone the house is in.....(Peschici is small though, so what's that got to do with the beach I don't know) Ok- he's clarified a bit
and says 90% of the beaches around Peschici are sand, so fine for smalls....

The rain and wind here are lovely at the moment- although dd has been got at by a mozzie and has gone to school with 10 huge lumps on her....

gio71 · 01/06/2009 14:54

thanks Bucharest- there is 1 apartment we have seen 30 m from beach and the other is in the centro storico. dp has called and his work colleague is going on about how we shouldnt go there, we should go to Salento as Peschici is full of mozzies and the seas is like Ostia - cant see that somehow. I have told DP I think Salento is too far in the car from Rome with a 2 year old. Plus I lived down there for a year and I want to see something different (stamping feet emocion). They are talking out of their arses no??

gio71 · 01/06/2009 19:54

hurrah! think we have sorted the holiday. Someone has come back re an apartment at Follonica in Toscana so we are going to go for that. 3 weeks in August!! Am so excited! Bucharest thanks for help though

Camomilla · 01/06/2009 21:28

it has been quite! guess everyone's been enjoying the good weather! was thinking of you rosa, yesterday as I was looking at places in Caorle so I had a peak at the live webcams and so the grey sky and people walking wearing jeans and jackets so I thought you might have been happy , didn't think it was quite so bad though!

just wish the breeze went now though, as it really is no fun trying to get stuff done whilst blowing my nose every 5 seconds! and think DS has hayfever too... hope not as bad

anyway, managed to get my 40mins with Davina this morning and felt so full of energy all day! my legs will be suffering tomorrow, but I only have less than 2 months to get rid of my wobbly legs/bum/tum, so just have to do it!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 01/06/2009 22:31

gio I was going to say that peschici is nice according to friend but you'll enjoy Follonica as well, we were in Punta Ala last year and was fantastic. Do go to the Aqua Park in Follonica, DD loved it!

Camo is the davina thingy good then. I thought about buying it once...

Rosa · 02/06/2009 14:59

Camo Sunday it was cold - the vogalonga was a washout - a temp drop of over 20 degrees ina week . However Monday spring came back and it is actually quite nice now - fresh as long as the humidity stays away the I will be happy ! Well done on Davina I have stopped cycling simply as I am loosing nothing and I am shattered in the pm anyway !
Happy Festa everybody .... How many holidays do they have over here ????
LOL at the Times saying Berlusca is a clown and that he doesn't listen to what his population want / need ......

francagoestohollywood · 02/06/2009 20:45

Hi, we are back from the countryside! Yesterday it was almost cold, while today it was summer. Weird! I spent 20 mins under the sun and I now have a tan.

Gio, wow lots of choice! I'm pretty sure it'll be lovely in Follonica. I remember a great holiday in a great camping site in Punta Ala when I was nine. As for camping this June with dh an the children ... I'll let you know, it's one of those things that either makes for superb family bonding or will lead us straight to divorce . Well, I'll be especially cross if I can't bring a washing up bowl

Penthesileia · 02/06/2009 22:00

Sorry, catching up - Pippi! Poor DD! Is she ok now?

Am at holiday talk - even of campsites. Can't imagine when we'll next take a holiday...

Utterly bricking it about finding a nanny now, as DH has revealed himself to be totally unreasonable (will not countenance nanny driving DD in a car, for instance). This is going to be a disaster. Shit.

Anyway, just popping in to say hello to everyone, and long time no see.

Hope everyone is ok.

Did you have a good holiday, franca?

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 02/06/2009 22:06

Oh penthe, hello darling.
I saw your thread, yes. I'm sure dh will come to terms with the whole thing. Nothing like getting used to a thing. Perhaps he needs to get to know the babysitter well before "trusting" her driving? I know I would!

Holiday was good. Not really a holiday, we go to pil almost every weekend when spring arrives . They have a garden, which is what my very active dc need

francagoestohollywood · 02/06/2009 22:06

Yes, Pippi, any news about dd allewrgies?

Penthesileia · 02/06/2009 22:14

Hey franca.

Thanks. Hope so. Truly, I do. He can be so intransigent, though, avant la lettre. Maybe he'll adapt when faced with the real situation. I'm just nervous that he will be too fierce at the interview stage, and no nanny will accept the job...

That's lovely about your PIL. Your DC must really enjoy it.

It's DD's 1st birthday tomorrow, which is completely weird and unbelievable! I can't believe that a year has gone by so quickly. And my ML is over now... Am scrabbling about trying to "work" in her down-time. Ha. Today I mostly read emails...
