bucharest you are a sleb-hag, scamarcio first and now even the mighty berlusca

Camomilla · 24/05/2009 11:55

has he at least given DD a diamond necklace

we had a fab day yesterday. DP's friend and fam came over for a bbq, was a bit disapponted by the after-lunch clouds so the kids watched madagascar after we had a couple of drops of rain, but then it was sunny and warm again and at 5 we went to the park for a nice walk and play to get the kids tired - ended up with two very tired daddies though!

about to get going with the bbq again! just hoping that we get some decent weather this week with DS at home

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2009 13:10

Lol lol at Bucharest's dd /berlusconi

We had a great weekend in the countryside and on saturday we had a party for dd's 5th birthday. She was so happy

Brange, thanks for the tip of doing a Victoria sponge cake with cocoa, I followed Nigella's advise to do it in the food processor and it turned out great! I made a few pics, will try to download them and post them (stepord emoticon)

Hope everything is well with you. Here is really hot, but hopefully it'll get a bit cooler tomorrow as our flat is like an oven (we have a tapparella rotta in the living room which is usually the only cool room in the morning)

Rosa · 25/05/2009 13:25

SO glad you had a nice time Franca and well done with the cake we are all very Stepford ..
Hot here as well we have the ac on in one room and are leaving the door open so it is cooler but not cold and it takes the humidity out a bit. DD went to nursery in shorts and cannotiera today and one poor child was in dungarees and a t shirt...needless to say when we went to collect them he had been stripped to pants and a t shirt !!!
Roll on Wed when it might break !

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2009 14:18

Thanks rosa

I should march dh towards a darty or euronics or whatever and get a pinguino too... mind you, a pinguino might be too big for our house.

Bucharest · 25/05/2009 16:45

You are all very Stepford indeed. I am ordering in pizza tonight- too hot to contemplate cooking. Tomorrow is school gita- the horrors that await me are unthinkable....nursery have sent message that despite the heat they must all wear their grembiuli-wotsits....how ridiculous....(I guess to look good on the official photo...)

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 25/05/2009 17:13

once again it is really hard to imagine the heat you are all talking about. Nice warm days here, we even managed to escape the rain till now despite the forecast and the clouds, but nothing near what you are saying.

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2009 17:17

Pippi, it's 33 degrees here and 20 di minima. So, not the worst of the worst. But considering it's may it is a bit . It's aria calda from africa, apparently

Sputnik · 25/05/2009 18:43

Glad your DD had a good birthday Franca

Too bloody hot here. We put up our frame pool but DS screamed at full blast until I took him out. Very annoying as it's a good way to survive the heat, so I hope he changes his mind. I had to get out too and supervise DS in our perilous garden, but couldn't go in as DD had to be supervised in the pool. Bloody annoying standing sweating in my bikini getting eaten by zanzare.

DD was in 1 question every 30 seconds mode too. I need a stiff drink!

Rosa · 25/05/2009 20:13

Pippi imagine a sauna with a hot breeze or get a sponge dip in hot water and make it run down your back !!!!!!! It is far too hot for May its Luglio temps.
We have 28 deg outside and only 70% humidity so better... WInd should change on Wed so they say so Africa can have its hot wind back thank you !!
SPutnik hope ds gets over his fear of the pool minirosa had 2 baths today as she has those heat spots so cooled her off.She doesn't like water to drink either she holds the teat in her mouth and then lets all the water dribble out her mouth !! sO been trying to feed her a bit more as the humidity is terrible.I hate this place sometimes esp when the babes are all sweaty and sitcky and grumpy.

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2009 20:28

Sputnik, that sounds like an exhausting afternoon. Here's an ice cold beer for you

Rosa, poor minirosa! They do take a while to get used to drink water! Have you tried with a spoon?

Rosa · 25/05/2009 20:49

I did try a bit to be honest but she was getting all frustrated so I gave up....I used her 'food' spoon so that diddn't go down well either - I was going to try and get a soft teat cup and see if she likes that better .....Well they are both asleep now ....not sue for how long dh is up at 3.15 am domani so I am in for a fun day when he gets back ......

francagoestohollywood · 25/05/2009 20:52

Yes, try the cup!
3.15 !
I'm sweating already. I took a bath 20 mins ago!

Penthesileia · 25/05/2009 21:21

Happy belated birthday, franca's DD. Glad you had a nice weekend.

It's been warm here, as Pippi says, but nothing like the temperatures you describe. I feel itchy just reading about it.

My DD, little madam, will only drink water from a glass cup if I hold it up for her, or from one of those sports water bottles.

OP posts:
Camomilla · 25/05/2009 22:18

yes, warm, but still would like a bit of your heat...

we had a nice day yesterday, got the little paddling pool out and put DD and DS in, DD was loving it!

today was just a wasted day though, we decided at the last minute to go out to this little market to get DS a shark tooth (he's been going on and on about it all week), it was warm but cloudy, but when we got there it was really hot, so I was really wishing we were in our garden. instead we spent £3 for 15 mins on the boucy castle, got the shark tooth, walked around the market (starving) and finally we decide to eat, went to this italian restaurant, rubbish service, creepy waiter, DS was in brat-mode, so we left after 20 mins of being ignored, got to sainsbury's to get some bread for sandwiches and finally got home at 3.30, by the time DP got the ombrellone out and I fed DD, the sun had gone!

at least we had fun watching DD finally crawling/dragging herself from one end of the rug to the other to get her rabbit

gio71 · 26/05/2009 08:54

Sputnik hope you had that stiff drink yesterday! I remmeber my envy of you really setting in last summer when you said you had a pool. I am very very again!
Went to beach on Sun, was lovely. Got brother and sister in law over for few days. Last night dp suggested we use the clippers on ds's hair as he has a very thick head of hair and poor kid was sweating buckets. He loathes the barbers so dp was saying-it'll take 2 mins with the clippers, job done easy. HA!! Ds screamed so much I thought the neighbours would call the police! I had to pin him down, he had snot pouring from every orifice and was retching - he has a total phobia developed of hair being on him! So dp found it impossible to do it evenly and yesterday he looked like a moth ridden rug! I was also in tears! This morning we have taken him to barbers where we were told only thing to do was a number 1 so now I have a skinhead child
Mental note to never ever ever listen to dp again.

gio71 · 26/05/2009 08:55

moth eaten (ridden ) even!

Penthesileia · 26/05/2009 09:31

Oh gio! What a battle. I'm sorry it was so traumatic for you all.

Has it made a difference, though? Does DS appear to feel cooler? Poor wee man.

I know it's too close to the event to feel this way, but this is the kind of story you'll tell years later and probably laugh over.

Definitely never listen to DP again though.

Ugh. It is pissing down here, and rained hard all night, even waking DD up (I think - otherwise, I have no idea why she woke). Tried everything to get her back to sleep, but she was quite determined to play for a good couple of hours from 4-6, quelle joie.

Anyway, so we're a bit grumpy and tired here, and no way of playing outside.

OP posts:
gio71 · 26/05/2009 09:49

he does seem cooler, have lathered his head in factor 50 suncream as am scared he'll burn just to top it all!
my sister in law and brother were laughing at him last night at dinner- is way too soon! Maybe in a year or 2 as you say Penth! He keeps looking at me and saying "Mamma hair all gone!"
Poor you re your early morning party! Get a load of coffee down you!

Penthesileia · 26/05/2009 10:13

"Mamma hair all gone!" Bless him!

That's a bit cruel of your DB and SIL.

I think there is something particularly talismanic about children's hair, TBH, and cutting it seems like such a big deal. DD has quite long hair for someone her age, and it keeps on falling into her eyes, but I cannot bring myself to have it cut, so I try to clip it back... I'm sure I will cry when she has her first haircut.

Yes, one coffee down, making another soon. But then I worry about the caffeine going into the breastmilk and wiring DD, and vicious circle, etc.!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2009 11:34

"mamma hair all gone " is soooo sweet!

Penthe, ouch at the 4-6 party mood... I think you can have another cup of coffee, maybe after lunch?

Rosa · 26/05/2009 13:07

I can't drink coffee any more only the decaff stuff - I get the shakes about 30 mins after !!!
Gio how traumatic for you and your ds he probably won't even let your dp get near him again with anything looking remotely like the shears ! I do dh hear almost every week have got it down to a fine art now ( he is half bald anyway !)
Franca is it fresher there yet ? Its sooooo hot here I can't take much more......

francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2009 13:20

Not sure! I convinced myself that it's a tiny bit better today, but I'm not sure... . I'm going to work in 10 mins, at least there's A/C there! And dd is going at my mum's this PM, she's got a/c too! (poor ds has swimming lessons!)

francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2009 13:21

It is a bit breezier, deffo.

gio71 · 26/05/2009 14:06
