I don't think I can make a whole in the glass. But will deffo go to Darty or suchlike and have a look around...

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 13:47

a whole? hole, of course

Rosa · 18/05/2009 13:53

I can't be bothered to do dh accounts ......

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 13:54

don't do them! . So, you won't be in Ve in the second half of June, will you? We might take the children for a day, on our way to Istria.

Rosa · 18/05/2009 14:03

We will be in spiaggia in Ca di Valle near Jesolo from the 18th.
Istria lovely which bit are you going to ? My memories
Motovun - tiny place pretty I have a wood carving of a flower done by a man in a garage as you walk up !!!!
The Food and wine excellent !
Rovigni - the wind blowing froze me to death - it was October however !
You could always do a boat trip to Venice from there if you are on the Porec side as they have those super fast ferries.
Oh and non sandy beaches so take those jelly shoes so you can walk into the sea.Crocs float off and those thick rubber sandals make your feet float !!!!

Rosa · 18/05/2009 14:04

Should say not all of the beaches are like that - it was more the south but it was certainly not 'golden sands'

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 14:14

Thanks for the advice
I don't have a clue yet as to where we'll be going exactly (this is the bit of the holiday dh should be organizing , yeah, right!), I also want to see Trieste.

I've been to croatia more than 20 yrs ago, and I remember there are pebbles etc. Mind you, dc have strong soles from all the time spent in salina where sand is nowhere to be seen!

I'm just getting excited as I want to force dh to buy a new tent!

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 14:26

Oh rosa if we pop round before you go to the beach, I will offer you a cicchetto!

Rosa · 18/05/2009 14:38

Done ...mind you we will need to find a bar with AC or the wine will go straight to my feet don't think bridges wine and buggies go well together !

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 15:00

Ciao girls. Triste is beautiful imo. Never been to Istria but have friends who live there. Are you camping then franca?
Rosa anyone who manage to survive that heat and humidity deserves a big medal!

I am well miserable as still no school for dd. Second round of offers passed us by as if it never happened. LEA is tight lipped and the thought of appealling is feeling me with dread tbh as I've got no idea how to do it. Sometimes the private route seems the easier option even though I really had this idea of dd going to local state school and we will be skint, to say the least.
Can I just bury the head under the sand????? .

BTW I have done my Race for Life thingy on sat. Run all the way. the dds and dh were so proud!

Penthesileia · 18/05/2009 15:05

Pippi! Wow! You are amazing. Congrats! Do you do a lot of exercise regularly? No way I could run 5k!!!

So sorry that the school situation is still not resolved.

at all this talk of holidays! Don't think we'll manage one this year!

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 18/05/2009 15:10

oh Pippi don't despair. something will come up.

and well done on race for life!!!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 15:26

no training at all. I was well impressed myself albeit crippled the next day !

I hope so MM but I am getting worried that my optimism will fail me and my dd. I should be doing so many things and instead I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself and almost in tears.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 15:31

I have almost reached the point where I wish I had lied about my faith and had gone to church instead of being all righteous and honest.

TheMysticMasseuse · 18/05/2009 15:49

but there's no point thinking about what you could have done Pippi... you didn't, so, end of story. you'd probably hate yourself now if you'd done that...

perhaps you should take the plunge and secure a private place... at least you know she has a place somewhere and you can sleep well again... and when the state school comes up (which it will) you'll lose some money, but better than going crazy in the meantime...

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 15:55

Oh dear Pippi, please don't beat yourself up about the school situation. And you did well, imho, not to pretend you are religious. I would appeal to the LEA. I'm pretty sure that a MNetter friend of mine did it, I can ask her for advise, if you don't mind.

And I totally forgot about your maratona and forgot to donate, am I still in time for doing it? I'm impressed that you managed to run all the way. I tried to do a capriola sulla sbarra yesterday and failed miserably.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 16:41

Oh thank you girls, I really am in need of some cheering up.
If the money to secure a place wasn't a whole term I'd do it today. I have spoken to someone whose daughter goes to that school (she was in the same situation as me) and she told me there'll be places so to wait. It is a big commintment this private school thing though. Maybe it's just like buying a house, you should just sit tight and wait. boh.

franca yes you can still donate I think. will check now. will resend email actually as I did not raise as much as I though, all the italian friends did not understand anything I think. how's your torcicollo?

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 18:08

Torcicollo is fine, thanks my darling.
Would you like me to ask friend to pop on here and advise on appealing to lea or do you think it's too early/not necessary?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 18:15

yes please. another lovely mnetter emailed tons of stuff. the more advice the better. and not too early. deadline for appeal is the 25th.
thanks.

Penthesileia · 18/05/2009 18:29

I'll sponsor you, Pippi! Email me the details:

Had to quicly post before I go off and be domestic ..the house we saw ( too small ) had 2 loos one downstairs and one up with a BIDET IN IT ... There was this handle on the side which actioned a jet of water I so nearly laughed out loud at the thought of the brits seeing it !
Pippi so sorry about the schools I have no advice at all just positive thoughts

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 20:36

penthe !!! Thank you ever so much.
I admit before the race I was praying it rained so much so that I wouldn't have to do it. In fact I did enjoy it immensely and seeing all these people running with the name of someone dear to them that had been affected by cancer made me think of my little girls and run till the end. And seeing dd1 face all happy at the finishing line is priceless. She made me feel like Paula R winning the marathon ! Will def do it again next year.

Penthesileia · 18/05/2009 20:39

It sounds very inspiring! Actually, am a little tearful at your description. Well done you!!

So cute that your LOs were there, cheering you on.

Remind me later in the year to start thinking about this!!

here!

Penthesileia · 18/05/2009 21:00

Ooooh - that feels quite soon! Don't think I'm quite ready for that! [chicken] But maybe... I should try to jog a little and see how it goes! I get shin-splints, so would need to prepare a bit.
