hi everyone, an dwelcome Vittoria - sorry, thought you were a namechanger!

spagna, sabrina, now we're really reminiscing!

just got back from my night out, well, a few hours, frozen after waiting 1/2 hr for the train, but hey, at least I saw some old friends. MM, glad the wraps are working, and happy b-day to DD2!

still bad nights here, DD spent an hour downstairs with us again last night, and woke up a million times after, then DS was in our bedroom at 6am! cos he was tired of sleeping! I'm really hoping for some sleep tonight, need to be prepared for the Boden party tomorrow!

gio71 · 16/05/2009 07:30

sorry you're feeling low mm, hope you have a lovely day today and auguri to dd.
welcome vittoria!
I remember sabrina on Top of the Pops with Boys Boys Boys and all the boys at school the next day talking of nothing else......

Vittoria · 16/05/2009 08:18

Let me think - Dove la Musica by Eros?? Zuccaro??

Rosa · 16/05/2009 08:36

Happy Birthday mimi MM.
Hope that the wraps are working better now.
Vittoria you can find loads of Eros and Zucchero in U Tube. I can remember trying to memorise the famous Zucchero song when I had arrived Italy solounasana etc etc .
i give up with Minriosa and nights now. She has 1/2 a feed when she wakes up and then falls asleep have tried doing both to fill her up but no way she drops off again. So as a consequence it is an average of 3 time s night plus dd wrestling with her sheets as we have taken off her duvet and given her a sheet and a coperta and she can't cope with it kicks it and has a full on lotta .. AM thinking about making a sacco from a sheet and see if she copes better with that.
Onwardsa and upwards 2 days alone - I love teh weekends without DH NOT !

TheMysticMasseuse · 16/05/2009 14:13

hello everyone, we had a lovely (morning) party for dd2, apart from the fact tat she didn't sleep so was shattered and our car was towed (dh's fault). thanks for all your wishes.

i was wondering whether we could do a quick roundup with some v basic details as i really don't remember who lives where and has what dcs? only if you want of course.

shall i start:

name: TheMysticMasseuse
Italian but lives in London
has dd1 (3 and a bit) and dd2 (1 today!)
segni particolari: very very dark circles under my eyes after more than 3 years of no sleep

Sputnik · 16/05/2009 14:43

Good idea MM, I keep getting confused too.

Allora, Sputnik, British but lived in Italy nearly 20 years. Currently just outside Rome, soon to be a full on Roman (will have to work on my dialect, gli mortacci tue, and, obviously, my driving skills).

DD will be 5 in July, DS will be 2 in June. Both are utterly gorgeous, needless to say.
Segni particolari: yes chronic sleep deprivation here too (5.30 start this morning, thanks DS).

Camomilla · 16/05/2009 17:13

hi, back from the Boden party! I survived, just! well, I think I left just on time! few things I liked from the catalogue weren't there, nothing in my size to try for measure, so just ordered stuff for DCs. Was quite pleasant, but overwherliming to be in a (tidy) big 3 storey (+big loft) victorian house, with brand new kitchen and round top bath..... host (bestfriend's friend) was very nice though. few people came and went (apparently if you're on the Boden list they e-mail you to tell you if there's a boden party in your area), but had a pleasant morning. then the mother/mils arrived - all made up with un-movable harisprayed hair dos, definetly squaring up the guests, so I made my gateaway, as again no sleep last night with DD waking up every 5 mins and DS coming in our bedroom at 7am...

but anyway, happy b-day mini MM2!!

Camomilla · 16/05/2009 17:16

forgot,

name: Camomilla, italian in London (11 years)
DS(5y in july) and dd (8 months)
segni particolari: idem - very very dark circles under my eyes after nearly 5 years of no sleep

gio71 · 16/05/2009 18:31

had lovely day going round the centro storico with ds, stopped for lunch and he was asleep so had plate of pasta, glass of wine and cheeky cig all while reading book in peace. Twas bliss! DS had pizza bianca when he woke (bad mother emoticon)
And bought new jacket and top from Zara , havent shopped for me for soooo long and am so bored of paying off debts I thought I deserved a little boost
Anyway
name: Gio- Brit in Italy- this time been here for 3 years, previously to that for 4 years and then back and forth in all the years in-between since met dp (Roman) 12 years ago. Live in Rome.
DS is 2 and a half and beautiful
Segni particolari: fat arse from too many cornetti e gelati and snap on dark circles

Penthesileia · 16/05/2009 22:40

Hello everyone!

Happy Birthday, minimasseuse!

Good idea to remind each other of everything!

OK, so me, Penthesileia:

Brit 30yo, married to Italian (who's been in the UK 20 years)
DD 11.5 mo (nearly 1 year! - where did the time go?). She's my lovely ciccetta!
Segni particolari: well, my dark circles are genetic rather than from tiredness, sadly (poor little DD already has this problem too!), but other than that, errr, long hair? I'm also the one submerged beneath a velcro-baby and 10,000 books!

Rosa · 17/05/2009 20:19

at lovely weekend mine was hands on both days dh has just come back and is in the shower I hate SUndays in Venice busy . now hot and dd needs more than bubbles and a ball ato keep her happy she needds' mates' and everybody is with families and I can't ask friends round as we don't have AC and our place gets hot ! Good that DH has a bit of work this week all early mornings so I expect his company mentally probably by next Saturday ...No Sunday he is working Sat !!!
Right off to wash up and bed for me ....Buona Settimana

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 11:48

Hi all...
Masseuse, glad you had a lovely weekend and managed a strategic pisolino. Lust, caution, no, I've never even heard of it

Rosa weekend can get claustrophobic here as well... it is hard in a busy city, isn't it?

Very hot here today, I feel I just buy at least some ventilatori...

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 11:48

just? should!

Sputnik · 18/05/2009 12:27

We have ceiling fans, I love them!

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 12:29

I know, they are great, aren't they? Should find an elettricista.....

TheMysticMasseuse · 18/05/2009 12:56

Lust, caution is Ang Le''s last film (about a year or two old though), set in occupied Shanghai during WW2... lots of beautiful people, acrobatic sex, twisted morals, passion, danger.... you have got to see it!! if you've ever seen In the Mood for Love, this is it but with no inhibitions

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 13:03

I didn't even get to see In the mood for love... I used to go to the movies at least once a week in a previous life

TheMysticMasseuse · 18/05/2009 13:09

me too, sometimes twice... in fact it's what i miss most from my life before dcs... i guess mine are a bit younger, that's how i got to see in the mood for love... (which is by Won Kar Wai- spelling???- btw, not Ang Lee).

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 13:10

Mind you, even pre children it wasn't easy being a cinefilo in Exeter, as the cinema scene wasn't that exciting

Rosa · 18/05/2009 13:15

Films that for me along with sleep is a past life. Going to see a house this pm it is not the area we want and agent is being very over enthusiastic so I am already .
We are lucky now as on 2nd floor so if there is any breeze we get it but we have a portable AC which makes 1 room cold and the others silly hot but it is good for getting rid of the humidity say in the bedroom before we go to sleep it is just sooo heavy to lug round. ( Plus the bucket that collects the water is too much tempation for a 3 yr old !) I have a ventilatore that I position in the corridor to get the air moving round the dd level as all our windows are higher than they are!!
This morning it was 85% humidity but thankfully it eased off currently about 56% now ( thanks DH clock thingy !!)

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 13:21

My goodness rosa, the humidity must be unbearable in Venice...
mmm you got me thinking, I might want to invest in a Pinguino... Our problem is that all the rooms bar the living room face south, so we get the sunshine from early in the morning, and it can get ridiculously hot in here...

Rosa · 18/05/2009 13:44

Get one with a tubo not a extra unit that you have to place in a window if you can make a buco in a window and poke the tube through that If you have vetro camera then you wedge it between teh 2 windows and block the top bit of the windows with a curtain or something.
Since the dd we tend to use the A/C mainly to get rid of the humidity rather than to make the place cool as the unit we have will not cool the whole house. A few times we did have it on mega low when it was so very very hot - Thing is now dd is in her room so we can't put it on and leave our door open as it defeats the object.
When we came back from the mountains we got a friend to put it on low at lunchtime and by 6pm the whole house was ok when we got back ...Then we opened a window !!! Seriously I wish I had got one I could easily wheel from room to room as it would have been so much better - I just went to the shop in the hot hot summer of 2004 and said I want whatever you have !!!
