Ciao, welcome!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 21:08

Done it!

Pippi, another thing, I don't remember if I thanked you and Mccloud for the card (terrible memory emoticon)

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 21:38

you did scolapasta, you did!

never heard the term shin-splints before but god how apt! I did not get those this time but I used to suffer from them a lot. Maybe it is all down to the power of the mind...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 18/05/2009 21:44

a grande richiesta e per ringraziarvi vi mandero' una foto di pippi after the race looking like Mago G Galbusera (per chi se lo ricorda) .

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 21:49

omg un cuore di panna how romantic!!!

geeee the mago g was on drugs, never realized it before!

Sputnik · 18/05/2009 21:51

Brava on the 5k Pippi, I am impressed.
Hope you get somewhere with the appeal What a pita.

Camomilla · 18/05/2009 22:23

Well done pippi! looking fwd to the Mago G pic!!! and hope you get a school place, sorry can't help with appeals.

still "recovering" from the boden party.... I feel so silly really, I'm a grown woman, but the more I think about it, the more I realise how out-of-place I felt, just like a little kid, I think I was fine to begin with, but there were a couple of class type comments and the house (and the look on the older witches faces) that made me feel soooooooooooooo small, so "not worth it". I hate this class thing, and I've been thinking so much about it recently as since these "friends" moved to a very middle-class area, suddenly we don't see them anymore, or plans to meet up go pear shape at the last minute (he has never even met DD, and he's supposed to be one of DP's best friends!!). She used to come over at least once a week before they moved! but maybe I've just been PMT (my periods came back yesterday, and OMG for some reason I'm still in shock)

on top of that, mum tells me they've had 29 C today and yesterday, and I'm still here wearing canottiera

sorry, just a feel-sorry-for-myself moment...

francagoestohollywood · 18/05/2009 22:35

Camo, noooooooooooooooooo!!! Stop feeling bad immediately... Maybe the reason why you don't get to see your friends is more linked to the fact that it takes ages to move around a big city? I have friends here in Milan I don't see for months, just because we live a 30 mins bus ride away!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/05/2009 10:49

Camo yes you sound as if you are having one of those everything is horrible pms induced thoughts. (do not tell me this is your first period since dd was born !) Having said that I know how you felt... it is like being a kid again isn't it? I wouldn't worry about not fitting in a boden-clad environment tbh if you think about it even if you could afford to buy the whole catalogue I bet you wouldn't! Remember the old you who used to go to gigs with dp etc? That's who you are! WE are only stepfor temporarily, when the children are a bit independent we can all meet up at the astoria !

I am still well miserable as you can imagine.

Rosa · 19/05/2009 13:27

Camo don't let it get to you honestly they are not worth it - true friends are there for you thick and thin and vedrai they will come out of the wood work . I haven't seen so many of my 'really good ' friends since minirosa was born and I send a huge round robbin e mail and so far 1 has replied !
DH has a thing about the state of our house and hates inviting Italian friends over but my british friends are ok Our house is old , bitty obviously rented and it is crap baiscally ! We both hate it but can't get out of it !
As for a Boden Party I am impressed that you coped I probably would have sat in the corner and made hmm noises when needed !
Rosa now has an image of Pippi with yellow curly hair and a red nose !
getting warmer ...noooooooooooooo

gio71 · 19/05/2009 13:28

poor Camo and poor Pippi. Camo-ignore the Stepfords, all smug in their slice of middle England. Listen to Pippi and Franca-they are quite right!
Pippi I feel your pain-still nothing for ds re school-I have made no progress-I have no idea if I should be doing anything-DP just says aspettiamo and vediamo and other such pearls of wisdom and I continue to bury my head in the sand-we are crap and I keep feel am letting him down but no idea what to do!

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 13:42

Gio, I've no idea what happens if you are not given a place at scuola materna. I'll ask around, but here in Milan they still have liste provvisiorie and I'm sure there is a second intake in october. Keep ringing the school of you choice! Another thing you can do is visit your local scuola materna comunale, see if you like it and if they have any space.

Have just looked at the website of the municipio di roma and I'm at the small number of scuole materne in roma !

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 13:44

sorry, I meant your local scuola materna statale, you applied to the comunale, didn't you?

Rosa · 19/05/2009 13:58

Gio - I would call the schools and ask them what you are to do I am like you often leave dh to do things when I actually do them things get results ..Or at least I get an understanding of how thigs work. SIL said yesterday that the materna we have chosen she wouldn't choose if she had a choice now - She is a representative of a class and her ds goes there. I had to remind dh last night that his sister goes regularly OTT and if we ask other mums they are perfectly happy.Plus we are now too late to move her unless I wanta mommoth trek to take her to another!
A mate who did not get a place in the materna has to wait for a second intake but in the mean time she is calling the materne ( list on internet) to see if they have spaces and she is going and seeing them ..

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 14:37

Rosa, I think that there is always a couple of parents who aren't satisfied about a school, even when the majority is... and if your sil is always OTT then... .... I wouldn't worry. If you had positive vibes from the school and if other mums are happy then I wouldn't worry!

Sputnik · 19/05/2009 14:47

If I remember correctly if you don-t get a scuola materna place in Rome you are automatically referred to the nearest. That is on paper anyway. I am worried already for DS next year!

The rogito for our new house is fixed for next tuesday, hooray!

Camo sorry you were made to feel crap. Stuff the Bodenites, I say.

gio71 · 19/05/2009 15:01

ah thanks for your help ladies. DP called the school when it happened and they said that they couldnt guarantee anything but by Dec everyone who had applied was in. The commune have said someone will contact us and discuss other options....when I have no idea. Think I will do what you say Rosa and try and do stuff myself instead of waiting dp-is annoying though because this is what always happenes which is why I end up doing the majority of everything and him very little .
Rosa re the school I agree with Franca, there are always negative things to be heard about all of the schools but I think as long as you felt it was ok then it'll be fine-things like location etc are important as well.
Hurrah re house Sputnik!!

Camomilla · 19/05/2009 15:10

hi all, thanks, I know of course that you're right, but you know how it is, when one thing after the other goes wrong.

pippi, yes, first since dd was born, I know I should be happy, but feel a bit "cheated", after all the time and effort invested on bf/expressing, was hoping for a bit more time.

anyway, I guess I can look forward to a comfy retirement - DS said he wants to be be a "modol" when he's big, what I asked, "you know mummy, the one that causes a style" , and he wants to wear a hat, a waistcoat and a cool necklace and bracelet and watch

hope the school situations sort themselves out soon, not nice wating in limbo

Sputnik · 19/05/2009 15:27

I won-t mention then that I still didn-t get mine back and DS is nearly 2! Big advantage of extended bf. That or I-m menopausal.

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 16:08

at camo's ds!

I'm having my period at the mo too and dream to get into forced menopause. I'm fed up of menstruating!!!

TheMysticMasseuse · 19/05/2009 20:25

Camo, while i can totally sympathise with the way you feel (gosh i know a thing or two about feeling out of place!) i would honestly not waste your precious energy on envying/ feeling bad about a bunch of boden-wearing women!! they probably envied YOU, all cool etc. and as for your friends who've moved areas, i think it's what franca says, so hard to keep in touch, i moved from central london to central-ish london two years ago and although it's only a tube ride away, my great friend who lived next door to me and whom i saw every day i can only now see once a month/every six weeks and things have changed... still friends but no longer that "quotidianita'"...

lol lol at your "modol" :-)

periods, bah, don't talk to me about it... managed to get gp to talk me into the coil and am now experiencing the periods from hell.. sorry is that TMI?

Sputnik · 19/05/2009 20:29

I think one reason I like breastfeeding is it-s one of the few opportunities I get to read! We are down to bedtime and afternoon now though.

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 20:30

Exactly Masseuse. Camo, lets be honest. Think cool. Very, very cool. It's deffo not Boden

Masseuse, no not such thing as TMI as far as I'm concerned...

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/05/2009 20:31

no MM no TMI. I had copper coil after dd1 and hated every minute of it. painful periods and lOOOOOOOOOOOng. never again. was going to try mirena this time although not too keen on hormones. there are no other choices without hormones are they except those risky ones.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/05/2009 20:32

sputnik I did not think about that ... yes yes makes sense.

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2009 20:32

Is your ds not wriggly now? ! My dc got very wriggly while feeding after the first months that made reading impossible. Shame, I mamaged to read all the shopaholic books while bfeeding baby ds
