lol at choosing dd!
woudl you dare asking him if he had to choose between his books and you, who would he choose? sort of sophie; s choice..

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:38

Yes, I'm upset. And also fed up of house hunting. The market is full of overpriced crap.

We have a mix of IKEA, old furniture and some design pieces, like this table and these shelves, which basically were presents from wealthy relatives...

Penthesileia · 13/05/2009 21:38

LOL

He certainly hasn't a clue about the cost of those sorts of things...

but...

chances are, if I were to try to flog any of the books on ehay, he'd end up spotting them and buying them back anyway!

off to bed girls ,have a Nemirowski to dip into, had to give up Chesil Beach, never like the guy's work, but i insist on giving him a chance.

Penthesileia · 13/05/2009 21:40

I think he would choose me, but it would probably be a close call!

franca Househunting is soul-destroying for the most part.

LOVE those table and shelves. Especially the shelves!!!

Notte, McCloud. FWIW, I can never get into McEwan. I thought Atonement was hackneyed crap, and the film even worse. Blurgh.

I should go too. I've a pile of applications to read and rank, and I should've done them, like, yesterday....

Night night!

swoon at thos pieces, we are looking for table lamps if you see any about...
by the way dp who normally likes what i want to put on the walls, has vetoed the midwifery diagram, i wonder why.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:44

table lamps for desks or you know tables by the sofa? I still love the Artemide Tolomeo or an Anglopoise

gio71 · 13/05/2009 21:44

penthe. DP is like that with CDs and music equipment for his band. One day we will need to rent additional space for CDs . Luckily for us money wise he is happy with 5 quid bargains from Amazon!

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 13/05/2009 21:44

i love house hunting though, i was thinking of going to see some houses pretending to what to buy, just becasue i like looking at houses. and would like to take pics inside the houses. weird i know, must get a life.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:45

Penthem yes, the shelves are amazing. I hope we will one day buy some others (dream on)

Night ladies, ah Penthe, I've just read the ball by nemirovski

Sputnik · 13/05/2009 21:46

Yes, nice shelves. We have some shelves passed down from MIL, which , having perused those sites the other day, I now realise are classic retro vintage Danish style modular rosewood shelves. Actually they go well in our house which is late 60s too. She got herself a hideous arte povera thing to replace them.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:46

I think the reason why I don't like househunting at the mo is because I hope to find something as beautiful as our house in Exeter, which will never happen.

Camomilla · 13/05/2009 21:47

buonasera everyone, couldn't get into mumsnet for ages and then had all this chat to catch up whilst trying to listen to the apprentice (realy, where do they get these people!?!) and going to see DD who keeps on waking up and crying..... 4 weeks now, worse than when she was a newborn!

anyway, no, DP/Hs NEVER listen! inevitably I'm always saying "I told you so", so of course I'm the evil witch when I do!! and somehow it's always my fault ...

at the £1500 in books! I thought DP was bad with all the money spent on recording/music equipment!! would he realise if one's missing and a new bag appeared ?

aaaaaaaaaaargh, can't finish my post, DD's crying again..

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 13/05/2009 21:47

for top of book shelves, at each end, li vogliamo collegare all'elettricita principale, cosi' che illuminerebbero meta' del salotto. i want some original pieces, beautiful objects, not modern, probably dark wood base. cheap though.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:47

Sputnik at your danish shelves.

Sputnik · 13/05/2009 21:49

I qute like looking at houses, in an abstract way. But we always had 1 hour-s drive into Rome, which was a pain. Plus usually at least 1 kid. Plus if you-re on a budget and they keep showing you crap it gets demoralising.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 13/05/2009 21:49

so that's where damon is, wathcing the apprentice!

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:49

Mc cloud, I see.... not sure where to start looking though.

Ah, lol at selling mr penthe's ook on ebay to get a bag only to find he is the buyer

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 13/05/2009 21:49

so that's where damon is, wathcing the apprentice!

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:50

Yes, it is. Even worse when it's crap and overpriced.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 13/05/2009 21:51

ciao camo, my dd is teething badly,so we detinoxed her. the crying is worse here as well, poverine. better go.

gio71 · 13/05/2009 21:52

have been on a diet for a week now so that is probably why in a bad mood
love those shelves Franca
for some reason I have suddenly got a craving for a fry up . Oh I hate dieting, why wasn't I born with a fast metabolism!

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:53

Oh Gio, no, not a diet I'd love a fry up too. And a cold beer.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 21:54

Camo, poor dd!
