Ciao, welcome!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 13/05/2009 21:54

God yes overpriced crap. Worst were the villini with seemingly loads of room which you go and see only to find half of it is bloody underground.

francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2009 22:01

Oh gosh, the villini angst. At least villini are scarce here in milan.

I'm off to bed, good night dears

Sputnik · 13/05/2009 22:05

Yes there is a British part of me that thinks they might be nice, but actually they are all shit.

gio71 · 13/05/2009 22:11

are they Sputnik? I've never been in one but often thought how nice they look.
Notte all

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 13/05/2009 22:23

househunting is great if you do it lightheartedly, meaning that you are either just doing it for fun, a la McC, not desperate to buy immediately or you have not seen a million before, a la franca I guess or you are not shown crap all the time, a la sputnik. When I did it first time I could have ticked all the above: I was desperate to move on a budget and saw a million. not nice. second time around I was luck and only viewed 4, so it was fun and painfree really.

yes I was on the apprentice. bit boring. that deborah/debra cat bum mouth is the femal version of t**t ben. They are both still here. insignificant nice Mona (no disrispect) went.

Dh gets on my nerves bg time these days. the reason I got upset is because I've been asking him to discuss how we want our wardrobe (carpenter here) everyday for the past week. his response always 'don;t care it's your design' but I know he cares so keep asking. then the day after the guy measured and bought the wood he asks about my design and he goes ballistsic as it's not how it's supposed to be!!! AIBU? I ask you LI auduence? btw I have been telling him a milliojn times for the past 6 months how I thought it was going to be based on what we cannot fit everywhere else. now I've done it his way. when his jumpers are on the floor I will not flinch!!!
also ciliegina sulla torta now instead of being thankful that I took his trousers to the cleaner he moeaned that I should have checked the pocket because he cannot find his keys (a daily ocuurence btw). basically he is implying it is my fault if they get lost and that I don't to a thorough job! I said it is a miracle I even took them!

anyway I do love/adore him of course but for sure sometimes I wish I had been rich enough to keep my flat to run away to in peace and pretend I was single again for a few hours. Not sure where the dds are in this dream of mine but as it is a dream we'll leave it at that shall we?

ahhh so sos nice to rant to female ears.

ah also 'tis not a villa!

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 09:17

Oh dear Pippi, I'd be pissed off as well. I couldn't stand anyone going between myself and the wardrobe of my dreams. Btw, make sure you have enough drawers/shelves. We bought a very nice wardrobe for this house (as we didn't have any in our Exeter house, which had lots of built in victorian ones) and to save money I ordered the basic shelving/drawers.... and now I need to get boxes or those muji drawers etc.

House hunting: we changed so many houses/flats in the last 10 yrs, that I'm getting a bit fed up, really. ANd I'm still too much in love with our exeter house, that nothing seems nice enough. Plus everything is really expensive, etc etc etc.

I'm going to work now, and this pm I have 2 friends of ds. Help!

Camomilla · 14/05/2009 11:00

DD went on crying so took her in the living room with us til midnight, when she finally settled (before waking up countless times during the night). think it's a mix of teething and blocked nose... we're just exhausted, but tonight she's coming to bed with us if she starts again, no more getting up!

MM hope your night went better!

pippi, normally here it's his bank card - lost count of the amount of times he's had to phone the bank to cancel a card, for it to inevitably turn up where told him to look and where he said he'd looked... ah, never mind...

franca, I understand your pain, we'd seen a house we fell in love with but didn't get for various reasons, and now I always compare everything to that so nothing's ever completly right - we've been looking for about 3 years round penthe's area, though lately I'm getting a bit cold feet as in a way living in London is a kind of excuse for not moving back to italy IYKWIM.... but we're now really too tight in here and can't afford to stay in the area so we have to seriously start booking viewings...

Brangelina · 14/05/2009 11:31

Oh my goodness, what a lot of posts to read through!

I would add my 2p's worth and rant about my DP too but I can't be bothered. Suffice to say that I'm going out to buy paper plates for him to eat off, seeing as the act of putting the china ones in the dishwasher appears to be beyond him. It may be petty but this dishwasher thing is symptomatic oft a lot of other "pecche" that I'm fed up with, plus his disrespectful way of speaking to me when in neanderthal mode.

Anyway, on the bright side I'm going out to a gallery opening tonight, first decent bit of non work-related social life in ages. DD will therefore be dining on crisps and other crap, but who cares, it's only 1 day. The alternative would be to leave her with DP but I can't be bothered to write a menu, complete with instructions on how to cook it, and get all the ingredients out of the fridge for him beforehand.

I'm feeling house angst too at the moment, went round to pick up DD from a playdate and fell in love with this family's place. It wasn't flash, it was just really nicely set out and imaginatively furnished and decorated. They had lovely old fireplaces and high-ceilinged rooms with tall windows. White covers on the settee, though, without a crease or a mark and they have 2DC. How do they manage that?

Brangelina · 14/05/2009 11:34

Sympathy for everyone who had a bad night. I've developed a strange type of early waking insomnia myself but not because of anyone else. It's much much worse being woken up 50 times by a poorly child.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 14/05/2009 12:38

brange it is soo nice to have you back btw . and yes I second everything you sayd 'It may be petty but this dishwasher thing is symptomatic oft a lot of other "pecche" that I'm fed up with, plus his disrespectful way of speaking to me when in neanderthal mode.' that says it all for me.

franca that is exactly it. I wanted lots of shelves on one side as that is waht is needed. it was talked and talked but obviously I was half listened and so not we have two rails instead. Like I said I will pile up his stuff on his side of the bed. What I hated was the patronising was he was talking to me like I was retarded! anyway cannot be bothered.

went to see 3rd private school. good but lost enthusiasm tbh. maybe just today.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 14/05/2009 12:52

today dp did the dishwasher, "good" i thought, the message got through, a bit later i realized that the dishwasher was partly full of clean dishes from preious cycle and dirty dishes,

he has just rewired the house, so wont' complain right now.

Brangelina · 14/05/2009 13:05

Lol, yes DP does all the macho house repairs, rewiring, building and stuff, but we haven't needed any of that for a while. I really don't get this resistance to putting things away, contributing to household chores etc.. I mean, it's not as if his willy's going to fall of if he puts a plate in the dishwasher, is it? Sigh.

The biggest joke is he belittles all my doing the washing and stuff as it's "only pressing a button" Shame he's never bothered learning which button to press!

Pippi, I'd be back more often but am really tied up with work atm. In fact, my lunch hour's over now so I should get off here and tackle the backlog of emails.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 14/05/2009 13:31

LOL McM!!!!

he's good at his DIY though isn't he?

My dh has just bought a tent so he can go camping with dd1. knowing him he probably bought a 8person tent with en suite hot bath .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 14/05/2009 13:37

'I mean, it's not as if his willy's going to fall of if he puts a plate in the dishwasher, is it? Sigh.' my dh def shares this view deep inside his heart. Once in the heath of an argument he said that he cannot be loaded with such trivia as he has got more important stuff to take care of . Trust me he had to come back and apologise walking on his knees on sharp drawing pins.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 14/05/2009 13:59

lol at the drawing pins!

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 14:31

I often wonder if society is actually organized as it was meant to. Maybe women were meant to live in sort of kibbutz with men visiting for the occasional flirting and reproducing? Boh!
Dh is great at dishwasher loading, he is in charge of the after meals tidying up (he even cleans the fornelli!). BUT. We have one of those big drawers where you put pots and pans. Which he puts back in a big mess, not the right frigging order (bigger on the bottom)

Camomilla · 14/05/2009 14:49

DP's in charge of clearing up after dinner while I get the LOs ready for bed, so he does dishwasher, washing up, etc. BUT - never ever ever puts left-overs away, just leaves all in pots, no lids or anything, and doesn't put clean pots and pans away (mind you, the rare occasions he does, I have to get everything out and re-stack the lot)

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 14:51

argggggggggggggg the school run is looming.... soon there'll be 3 boys here. Help! And I've no idea what to cook tonight. Aren't you fed up of constantly having to think what to cook?

Camomilla · 14/05/2009 15:04

yes, wish I had mym mum's imagination and organisation... cottage pie tonight (the half left over from last night!) so at least it's ready, just need to pop in in the oven.

good luck with the 3 boys!

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 15:55

They are playing with L'allegro chirurgo now...

Yes, I wish I had my mother's organization in the kitchen too. She is great with leftovers etc.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 14/05/2009 19:37

I got an incredibly long detailed and personal email from the teacher training website in reply to my enquiry re teaching Modern Language to schools. I am so very impressed. McC want me to forward? Haven't read it properly as I cannot read from the net. will do tomorrow.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 14/05/2009 19:50

yep, forward please - always good to think about getting away from my family - i might pretend i am doing a course and really hide in a cafe with a book.

how was it with the 3 boys? ds had my favourity playdate today, there are some friends of his i would adopt.

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 20:01

It went very well. Very nice boys. Ds was the loudest, as he tends to get easily excited

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 14/05/2009 20:01

i always worry about threesomes..

francagoestohollywood · 14/05/2009 20:07

It was a foursome though as dd was here as well and they playied together.
