Ciao, hello, welcome!

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 13:49

Awwwww, she is a sweetie ! Do mention your talk to the school. I'm pretty sure they noticed she was sad, as - if I'm right - this game is to monitor how they react with regards to sharing etc (and they'd have noticed that in fact is xxx child who is not able to share, yet).

Rosa, you deserve to go out when your parents arrive. Even if it means being a little late. Have fun, have a fab dinner!!!!

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 14:28

Sorry about DS, franca.

Glad to hear minirosa is on the mend. Agree with the others about DD1.

@ nights out. I doubt we'll ever go out again...

Sorry - again - for not being around. Every time I log on, I seem to see some thread which gets me so angry, and I have to go away and cool down: this week it's benefits-bashing. I literally can't take it at the moment. Not sure why. Feeling a bit stressed and depressed. Partly because we've got a lot on our plate with house-buying/moving. But I'm just in the dumps, I think. Reverse SAD, perhaps!

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 14:34

Penthe, I have to dash now, but it is so good to see you .
I'm sorry to hear you are feeling down, you always sound so up beat and confident . I think it's time I get that moretti video for you
That thread is awful. But there is also a bunch of trusted mnetters posting on it .

Have to dash to get the dc. We miss you here, if that's of any consolation

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 14:35

sorry for posting all those irritating smiley faces!
a dopo

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 14:35

Thanks, franca. Have a nice day!

Rosa · 19/03/2009 14:39

Penthe - Log on and come straight to us we will keep you company ! They say moving house is one of the most stressful times there is where are you moving to ??
DOn't be sad please you always make me smile !!!
I have a school meeting this afternoon with the other parents and the school physcologist - thing is he has his hand up his bottom a bit and he can grate on me .Not helped by the fact that at the last meeting he did a group ' game' get together - I knew it so sort of cheated a bit ... Its the stuff I used to do with my team as ' bonding' ( nearly put bondage there !!)- Oh well will have minirosa with me so I might not participate at this ' game ' .
DH is going to take dd1 on a train to mestre and back ! She will wet herself when she finds out !!

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 15:01

Thanks, Rosa.

That's so sweet about your DH & DD!

Is this kind of psychometric testing, etc., common in the UK too, does anyone know? I've never even heard of such things!

I HATE group games like you describe, with a passion. I've occasionally had to do them for HR things in my work. Nightmare. I cannot bring myself to take them seriously, so end up sniggering in the back row like a naughty schoolgirl. They all feel so fake - everyone is acting, so what's the point? Plus I find the people that run them are usually cretins.

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 15:02

And yes, I should just stay here.

I think I will have to hide all other threads. Is that even possible?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/03/2009 15:26

penthe I'm so sorry you feel miserable, you are always so upbeat it comes as a bit of a shock! have some me time. also IMO in the life of MN there always comes a point that you get so angry/frustrated/discgusted by it all (except for this thread of course) that even carried on into RL. suggest a period of detox from any thread (except this one), do not even read them.
also I vouch for stress during house move plus baby. and beware cvtyvcbutduuc u utc v43a44a4cfsf like dd2 just said for me the down period was at 8 months.
is your dh really strongly set about not leaving dd with anybody? is it just now that she is so little?

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 15:57

I think that psicomotricita' is quite rated here in Italy both at nido (the under 3s), scuola materna and now even primary, as ds's class is having one hr of psicomotricita' every other week during PE. It helps with bonding and all sort of things.
I'm a bit biased because when I was in the UK, I met an Italian girl (married to another italian guy who worked with dh) who had just finished her degree (or is it a diploma?) in psicomotricita' and she is a fantastic person. She used to look after dd one morning a week when dd was 12 months and she was amazing.

Yes, moving is deffo very stressing. Especially if work needs to be done to the house. Or at least it is for me, as I'd like things to be perfect IMMEDIATELY.

But Penthe, we are here for you if/when you need us.

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 15:58

Dh has bought a new car

It'll be sad saying good bye to our trusted, lovely, sweet natured Multipla

Brangelina · 19/03/2009 16:20

You had a multipla? Is your DH secretly a taxi driver? I must admit i didn't see you as a Multipla owner, I imagined more a funky Ctiroen, but then the multipla is probably more practical.

Penthe, sorry you're sad. I thought it'd been a while since we last saw you. Moving is extremely stressful, I nearly had a nervous breakdown when we moved - having a very small child at the time didn't help. I know what you mean about the threads, now I just vaguely skim some of the more controversial ones. I think sometimes mn gives you the idea that the UK is entirely populated by risk averse, paedo watching, bigotted, opinionated harpies. I know it's not like that but it does make me wonder.

Blimey, is that the time already? Must finish an urgent letter before going to pick up DD from ballet.(what am I doing on here aaaarrrggghhh!)

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/03/2009 17:29

the funny thing about MN is that I never met anyone in RL with so strong ideas. yes I understand that in RL you would not go around preching as you might do here but no one ever said to me 'no my child never eat sweets ever'. I see mums everywhere quite 'normal' i.e. trying to juggle it all and making compromises with themselves, theor children, their partners, their parents, their PIL, the school teachers and almost everybody that crosses their path. where are those sturmtruppen (sp?) mothers????

franca do not tell me that dh just came home out of the blue with this news!!! Now that brage said it I do see you driving a convertible C2 .

viggo come here and waste some time pls.

dd2 already in bed, povera.

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 18:04

well yes, he more or less did that . I don't really care much about cars, and since I don't really drive, it's his choice. The multipla is 10 yrs old. When we took it to the UK for the first time, children pointed at it and laughed.
Why, I think I'm the perfect multipla owner, a bit snobbish but totally reliable
He went for a citroen btw . Do you think I should retaliate and buy a bag?

Brange, lol at the picture of the UK you can draw by reading mn. But there are also some fantastic, generous, open minded, funny and a bit "anarchist" types on here. Which is the bit I love about the uk.

Have to go a scolare la pasta

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/03/2009 20:03

really???? wow!!! I'd have killed dh for doing smthing like that without telling me - a bit controlling, moui??? naaa !
and yes you should def def def go and treat yourself with one slightly (because you are reasonable) expensive lasting piece. balenciaga anyone?

dh bought himself a somewhat middlelife crisis a while ago. he still bought what he wanted but he had to go through every single nut and bolt with me. I got his not too old car so could not complain but told him that if I ever get lots of spare cash I'd def pay for uni, a daily cleaner and all the childcare involved. that tells you a bit about dh and me .

oh I'm sure an italian MN would sounds as mad and pathetic.

dd2 went to bed at 5.15 poverina. hope she'll sleep through. should I let her? do I have to check her temp while she sleeps if she doesn't moan? she was ok but wanted to be on me all the time so did very little.
dd1 shattered by too much playing in the garden and park went to bed at 6.45. dh was out so I had a bath with a magazine!!! MIRACOLO!!!!

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/03/2009 20:05

ah can I ask you something about dentists in italy? does your dentist care about your dc teeth? do they see children under 5?

l'll explain after you answers.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 19/03/2009 20:33

franca, DP came home yesterday with a Multipla (p-x for our big citroen) and I just love it!!! might even try to drive it (my micra can fit inside it, so better keep to country lanes . And funny you said snobbish, I was thinking today I'm a bit snobbish but I don't mind (I was on my way back from tesco where I saw a particularly rude mother and children that really got me wish we'd already found a house in the country...)

my dad did that with a car, though I was the only one who didn't know, mum & DB knew, but I was fuming as I'd just started scuolaguida so I knew that if I had little hope of driving our car, now there just wasn't!

penthe, I haven't wondered around MN for weeks, was getting far too heated reading up stuff that really doesn't make any difference to my life....

pippi, I normally just feel them and keep an eye, but unless I think they're very hot, I don't check temp if they're asleep. no advice on italian dentists. Actually, you got me thinking now I should book an apt for DS and myself (DS was seen as soon as all his teeth came through, he was about 2)

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 20:55

I wasn't that surprised, as he's been talking about getting a new car for a while, and there are lots of incentives at the moment. He bought a sensible, family car, so that's fine by me, given that I don't drive .

Sunflower, isn't the Multipla just lovely? She is like a trusted family pet!

I haven't been to the dentist yet (after going back to Italy), but I used to go to a big studio where they also looked after children, including the under 5. Same with the dentist I had in the UK, which was private though, as I got fed up being on the nhs waiting list.

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 21:07

Thanks for being so sweet, everyone.

I'm not too bad really - just feeling bleh. You know how it is.

That's very exciting about new cars!!! Our poor old Punto is in a bit of a state, inside and out: DH has on occasion been less than careful when driving (e.g. listening to music very loudly and conducting while doing so so that he drove into a bollard, etc.), and the back seat is littered with junk - I found a dirty nappy under the seat today! We are pigs.

God, I haven't been to the dentist in ages - MUST make an appointment.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 19/03/2009 21:10

the truth is the multipla is daddy pig's car !

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 21:15

pippi
The main reason dh gives for changing car is that ours stinks. There are 3 yr old cheese puffs under the dc's car seats

Oh the reason why I haven't seen a dentist for more than 1 yrs is that I've had so many problems with one particular tooth (since I had an abscess when dd was 7 months) that I feel I've been tortured enough

Pippi, you brave woman, what are you doing on a weaning thread ?

Penthesileia · 19/03/2009 21:18

Holy fucking shit ('scuse my French), but that weaning thread is definitely one I have to avoid.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 19/03/2009 21:25

franca, everyone always said it's ugly, I've always found it cute! and so deceiving, I wasn't sure about boot size, but when we opened it, I was sold. we had a 7 seater, got it mainly for when family come over, but it was a pain to go around london with (I have never attempted driving it) and no point really in having a car we only used occasionally.

last time I went to the dentist, I'd just broken a tooth. that was 2 years ago and I still haven't fixed it... I hate it. I spent so many afternoons of my childhood/teenage years at the dentist (apparecchio mobile for 4 years, followed by fisso for another 3, inlcuding etra external bit for a while)

oh,no penthe, I need to go and see the thread now...

btw, weaning going well here, DD had minestrina tonight and couldn't get enough!

penthe, as you like wraps, I got this, finally used it today, just wonderful! though I still like to get a moss one too...

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 21:32

Yes, lets start a Multipla fan club! I must say that we rarely use the car, it usually never gets moved until the Friday, if we go to the country. Otherwise we use public transport.

Sunflower, I'd have loved to have apparecchio mobile or fisso, as in fact I had to "wear" a terrible instrument known as "il baffo"(possibly advising me of my long term fight against facial hair). So at around 13 yrs old I used to go to bed with: "il baffo and il busto for my scogliosi. The glasses for mioppia were on the comodino

francagoestohollywood · 19/03/2009 21:32

miopia, obviously
