Welcome, ciao, hello

I guess so. I never read anything about it though. what does it entail? giving them what it looks like they want? dd2 def wants nutella at all times and anything her sister has. One thing I do not do and never will is letting them eat anything with their hands. ok a piec of soft chiken at home, a cracker, a carrort an apple at time if they can master it a bit. but not play and throw the whole content of chicken nuggets, peas and chips and ketchup on the floor in a restaurant [rottermeier emoticon] or at home. no no no.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/02/2009 21:58

lol franca, you nearly made me choke on my cereals!

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 21:59

My typiing is crap today, must be the lovely Vermentino I'm guzzling savouring.

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:00

We had the brodo here but DD wasn't very happy about it. I did a mixture of everything. Started with curries.

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:01

brange the aussies and kiwis do too...

this is my favourite quote 'back in the good ole days you had a bath once a week if you were unlucky to get clean. After four people had bathed in the water before you then yes the water would have been murky - but did anyone complain - No.'
maybe they did, who knows?

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:02

The Aussies and Kiwis are Brits in a nicer climate. They don't count.

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:03

lol at the bathwater quoute. Sounds a bit like the Monty Python poverty competition.

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:04

hi hi hi .

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/02/2009 22:05

Pippi, I'd never heard of it till I came on here, so I asked the other day at the HV weaning workshop, and one of them had actually done it with her DC2, so basically you give start with chopped boiled/steamed veg/fruit, and progress from there (from lightly mashed to spezzettati, to sticks), but even with purees/baby rice you let them dunk their fingers.. you put food on the tray and let them help themselves. and they should then be on 3 decent meals a day within 2-3 wks

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:05

at vermentino. I niting my nails, which I never do. what's wrong with me today?

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:05

biting biting

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 22:06

I find BLW quite interesting, but of course wasn't aware when it was my time. So I was a slave to the "pappa" but let them chew on different things as well. I now regret not having offered them "spicey" things. But I guess, they will - sooner or later - appreciate them.

oh, because these people are actually that old that they experience this bathing?

no bidet, washed once a week... sounds like flatmate no 2 wasn't weird then, but she really stank!!

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:07

I did the finger foods a bit with DD, a big fat grissono would keep her occupied for hours, so I could actually get something done, like read a magazine. All the other mothers were gasping in horror. the woman at the bakery gave it to me, she said she'd done it with hers, only now mothers were overprotective.

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 22:08

I think it's the revolutionary road doom Pippi

OP posts:
Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:08

grissino.

I never had time to go online, so I didn't discover blw until DD over a year old.

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:09

ok sunflower I agreed until the 'even with purees/baby rice you let them dunk their fingers.. you put food on the tray and let them help themselves.'
sorry to much mess to clean for me. no no no they can do that mess when they've got their own home, this is my house and I only I can make a mess!!!!!

tbh dd1 was not interested in helping herself so lucky, dd2 aims at dunking fingers everytime and often she manages like tiramolla.

but again no no imagine the mash all ove the floor. percarita'!!

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 22:09

I remember going on holiday with very good friends of ours. Ds was 12 months, their dd 9 months and they wouldn't give her a piece of bread to suck on.

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/02/2009 22:11

but that's just the first couple of days. Apparently they are less messy as they learn to feed themselves earlier and quicker..

And go get thea jar of Nutella, you'll feel better

Brangelina · 05/02/2009 22:12

Yes, I knew someone like that. She thought I was mad to give my DD pizza crusts and grissini. Yet she used to mash up a Kinder fetta al latte for her DS.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 05/02/2009 22:14

franca, my mum's friend would chop spaghetti for her DD when she was 10!!!you can imagine her at my DB just eating a whole banana in one go )same age her DD)!

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 22:14

at the mashed fetta al latte!

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 05/02/2009 22:15

Oh dd2 has been chewing on bread, grissing etc for ages. I like that.
maybe sunflower but how can they eat the mushy/pureed thing with hands without making a mess - I would make a mess.
you know what I am sure is a good way it's just that I'm too lazy tbh. but I'll teach her to use a spoon asap.

yes franca shall I change my name to april...

francagoestohollywood · 05/02/2009 22:15

And i thought my friend was being all pfb by chopping her 3 yr old spaghetti!
