Just wondering what you think of this artist's work

(it's not controversial modern art done with blood or poo, I just kind of like the bloke's style)

I'm reminded now of the Picasso exhibition, again a few years ago of Picasso's work including lots of his sculptures and pottery not just paintings. That was truly wonderful.

I've been taking dd to all the major London exhibitions since she was tiny, she enjoys the Tate Art trolley as well. When we went to the fabulous Picasso/Matisse showing she preferred the Matisse - I do tend to think Picasso is more of an acquired taste, like most modern art.

yeah agree with beety - just a bit too vague. i like seascape type things, but just not enough detail/colour to them really.

Soupdragon, he wants to be Turner.

Cam · 23/03/2005 09:39

Yes beety, my dd is very girly and I think she liked the Matisse because they were prettier! Her favourite artist is van Gogh.

dd is 8, how old is your ds beety? Yes Tate Britain is the old one. You could go on the Tate boat which runs between Tate Britain, the London Eye and Tate Modern. Great way to see the Houses of Parliament from the river.

philippat · 23/03/2005 09:54

can I ask, do any of you go to art exhibitions that AREN'T at the big national galleries?

marthamoo · 23/03/2005 09:58

Oooh Twig, you are so harsh. Art is for the masses you know - none of your elitist nonsense here, please.

I mean, look at this - it's lovely.

I think I agree with you about the artist I linked to. The only ones I like are the ones that have more detail. Some of the others I think "DS2 could do that with poster paints". I'm curious because I went to school with him and he seems to be doing really well.

SoupDragon · 23/03/2005 10:12

The boat between the Tates was the only bit DSs enjoyed when we took them there last year (5.5 & 3.5 )

mummytosteven · 23/03/2005 10:22

I go to the Tate Liverpoool, and Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. And used to go to exhibitions at the Bluecoat (small arts centre) before it closed for redevelopment in the run up to 2008 and City of Culture.

wild · 23/03/2005 10:25

Beetroot i think in Picasso Museum in Paris - I'm not 100% sure tho
I know the one you mean

philippat · 23/03/2005 10:43

oooh M2S, I used to work at the bluecoat!
