Morning all
September's thread was very long so thought best to start a new thread as Brooke77 suggested too!

Am off to London again tomorrow for DS1 has a tv show casting, anyone have anything coming up?

Any of you had contract's through from UAN yet?

tinkerbelle I just did what the agency tld me! Everything went to them.

Sequin1 - there isn't an age group - I just meant that for 1 month 2 mths etc they appear to have about 3 babies in each.

I applied to SW at same time - still not heard!

tinkerbellchelle · 21/10/2008 19:01

hellfire - on my letter from UAN it says that because my LA don't offer an open license we have to have the stuff ready here for as and when a license would be needed, we also have the part 2 form? Oh well guess it will be a waiting game for if we ever need one

Sequin1 · 21/10/2008 19:07

Come on phones ring! Us newbies just wanna have a go!

MelodyDaisy · 21/10/2008 19:41

Tinkerbellchelle- Sometimes you may be better off having all the original's yourself incase you need to take all the documents to your local borough on the same day. A part 2 you will need to fill in with every job you have a license for. What I did was updated it each time on computer then wasn't having to re-write all the same stuff. It may be worth your while contacting your local borough to see how many days they require as some can be a pain like mine were to begin with.
P.S. I now have all original document's with me at home

Melody - oh?! I sent the part 2 to Kimberley but there again I suppose it's different once you've done a job. I thought from the t & C you fill out the licence thing everytime you did a job and immediately sent it to AK then they have it for as soon as you get another job so they send it. Is that not right?

Petit Filous advert - just seen it again - just how much has that little girl earned?! Once they do a buyou what if they just keep repeating it on every channel going do they get anotehr buyout? She must be earning a packet! Nice work if you can get it. One day's work ... if only! How much can she earn before paying tax?! Her parents must be well leased university fees sorted!!

christabel · 21/10/2008 21:11

tinkerbellechelle - Not had photos back from UAN yet - although not sent contract back yet. I have a lovely professional wedding photo of my DD and wondered if they would let me add to UAN website.

grumpalumpa · 21/10/2008 21:43

Hellfire - the agency will have copies as there is a Part 1 which the client completes and the agency will send all parts and docs to the council who ask for 7days notice on a license, ALTHOUGH on some occasions the turnaround is very tight and the agency may ask you to take the docs direct to the council to speed things up. We have a FAB council who have turned a license around in a day before but not all are as helpful

tinkerbellchelle · 22/10/2008 03:45

Melody - thank you let's hope are council are helpful if the time ever comes

Christabel - fingers crossed pic's come soon to see which ones they chose

MelodyDaisy · 22/10/2008 12:28

HFD- It was mainly because my DS1 needed his ASAP and then DS2 may have a job coming up next week and we buily up a very goos relationship with the borough ourselve's so they have now sent DD and DS2 originals back to me.

The Parent will ALWAY'S have to fill in the part 2 each time and the client will fill in a part1 each job.

jojosmaman · 22/10/2008 12:59

Christabel- I think for the website they only use pics where the child is wearing a plain white top against a plain backdrop? I only say this because my gorgeous niece has also just been offered a contract with UAN (I sent some pics of her to Sarah on monday as she said they would have a look even though books are closed as it is a kind of sibling!) and Sarah asked my SIL to do some plain top/ background pics for the web to put on until march when new ones are done, even though the ones I sent through were lovely.

Not sure of the reason other than it makes the site look nicer if all the same and easier for the clients to see?

Can't wait to get ds's pics from UAN although the phone has been quiet since his promising start with m&p!

christabel · 22/10/2008 13:46

jojosmaman - think you are probably right - sorry you didn't hear about M & P job.
Think there will be lots more opportunities as they seem a very professional agency and word spreads.
How old are your 2.

jojosmaman · 22/10/2008 20:06

Christabel- I just have one little one, a 20mth ds but my niece has just been taken on, she's 5 coming up to 6 (or 16 depending on what mood she's in!!)!

scottishAnnie · 22/10/2008 22:19

I take back my reservations about KK. We have our first casting on Friday for Burberry. Haven't told DS yet but I'm really looking forward to it and hope he enjoys.

Totallyfloaty35 · 22/10/2008 23:08

Jayney69 · 23/10/2008 11:44

Hi. I'm completely new to all of this. I'm thinking of putting my 4 year old daughter up for modelling (she's keen). I know all mums think their little angels are beautiful, but I get people in the street stopping me to tell me she should be a model. Anyway, just wondered what angencies to try (am in Kent, about 50 mins by train from London). I don't really have loads of money to pay up front fees either. Also, what does UAN stand for?? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Serenbach · 23/10/2008 12:06

Hi Jayney,
UAN stands for Urban Angels North. Their office in the South has just reopened their books and they have relatively low start up costs of £50 compared to others. You could also try Bruce and Brown and MOT, there are lots of good London Agencies but some of the start up fees can be really high. Good luck

joflow · 23/10/2008 12:13

Hi

I am new to mumsnet but have been on netmums.
I was advised to ask some of you mums as have been modelling for a long time.

I am asking for anyone with ES experince or advise as my son has been accepted.

Housemum · 23/10/2008 12:33

Hi, just popping on again - keep missing the thread! Things have been busy for us - DD3 as done a lot of M&S website pic (no she doesn't have blue eyes, whoever was saying M&S pick blue-eyed kids?) DD2 did a shoot for the NHS yesterday for winter germ-prevention campaign - she had to pretend to sneeze. 50/50 chance of it being used as they were shooting another girl after her.

No experience of ES - though they do charge a high start-up fee if I remember rightly? I have seen ES kids at castings and shoots so they are popular, they are certainly a well-established agency.

Jayney - we are with Bruce and Brown, they charge a nominal fee to go on their website (about £0 I think) but they take this from earnings. They do have a photo shoot each October half term which is £120 cash. Shoot isn't compulsory but it does mean that teh pictures of your child are taken in same way as everyone elses, and they do whatever is appropriat with hair, touching up blemishes or a little make up if they are looking washed out etc.

MelodyDaisy · 23/10/2008 12:39

Hi my DD was ES as a baby and got some nice work through them, but their fees are really quite high including cost of photographs with the fee. Did do a shoot with them a few weeks ago though, but I would recommend you try other agencies as well such as BB,UA,MOT,AK etc first before making any final decision.

DS1 has got a 'short notice' casting for today after school and he has to sing a xmas carol! Anyone else going at all?

OP posts:
joflow · 23/10/2008 13:04

Hi

Did you find them difficult that is what everyone has heard. My ds is nearly 3 we were with SW who want to represent him again but same cost as ES so thought i would try a new one. We had 3 jobs with SW 2 M&S and 1 for New look. I keep hearing ES good for babies is this true?

I have tryed b&b but too many in age group and same with KL. I have applied to u/a AK and MOT not heard anything yet. ES have photos on wed as only have 30 days to accept. This is hard

joflow · 23/10/2008 13:10

Hi

I forgot i was also accepted by bk and had a lovely phone call from kk saying they wanted to see him and he was lovely which was nice that they rang me. I was just a bit worried as they r quite new.

MelodyDaisy · 23/10/2008 13:15

Yeah because they have alot of babies!! With your ds being 3 I would be more inclined to perhaps try a different agency but this is just IMO.
I would still suggest holding back to hear on the other agencies.
I found them okay I suppose, didn't have much to do with them other than when they called with info on a job. What I don't like is the fact that they are now accepting kids without even meeting them which I do not like the idea of at all.
