I'm in Italy, home of fashion and style !!!!!! ha ha

ichef · 14/10/2008 12:54

Good luck for DS2 today, Melody!
No news for us yet.

happychappy I think Luce might be able to help you, if I'm not mistaken she was approached by an agency in italy? Correct me if I'm wrong Luce!!!

Luce was fantastic having people look after kids bet you're looking forward to that, hope you have a wonderful time.

Luce2006 · 14/10/2008 14:35

Hi ichef, yes, you're right. It was my ds who was scouted in Italy while on holiday.
happychappy, we were approached by Kids agency. They have braches in Firenze and rome.
I have been told that the junior division of Model Talent is very good ( high fashion and Pitti Bimbi) and the other two good agencies are Smile and Clan agency. If I remeber it right they are sole representative but I know of few people who have kids with the agency Eva and Adamo( or Adamo and Eva, can't remeber, sorry) in Firenze.
They all get nice jobs like Brums,Chicco,Gufo,Nero Giardini etc..
ANother one I have benn told really good things about it is the Junior Agency.
If you google them you'll find all the contact details you need. I hope this will help!!!

MelodyDaisy · 14/10/2008 19:07

Ichef-Hopefully won't be long till another comes along

Just got in, DS2 went in on his todd again and did brilliantly!! The casting director absoultely loved him and came over to say how great he was for his age and that he'll be doing loads Whether or not he's right for this was though you just never know!!

DS2 has been booked for a photo shoot job on Thursday though, yipee!!

Thank you Luce. DH will get onto it tomorrow for me.

Whats the pros and cons. Do I have to be a pushy Mum. I am a complete novice.

MelodyDaisy · 14/10/2008 19:19

No you don't have to be a pushy mum and from what I have seen, the kids that have parent's more relaxed and not pushing tend to do far better on a casting

happychappy · 14/10/2008 19:32

My daughter does singing for english language cd's here she loves it. Its all great fun.

yummymummyno1 · 14/10/2008 20:29

Are there lots of pushy mums? Got first ever job tomorrow for ds, am i going to be confronted with an army of Boden-clad yummy mummys (i know thats my netmums nickname but not me at all really)!!

MelodyDaisy · 14/10/2008 20:33

You will notice some, but I alway's stay well clear Just don't worry about anyone else, just you and your ds

OP posts:
yummymummyno1 · 14/10/2008 20:36

Thanks melody, you sound like a pro. Am very new to this wonderful world of child modelling, but it is very exciting. Do you ever get to meet each other at castings/jobs etc?

MelodyDaisy · 14/10/2008 20:41

I have met up with Julie4Travel on my DS1 first ever casting but no-one since and we have to been to over 20!! lol
My DC have only been doing it since August but already I feel like I have been doing it atleast a year and we still haven't had a week off

OP posts:
yummymummyno1 · 14/10/2008 20:59

Wow thats great to be getting so much work, although you must be exhausted!! Is your dc's school ok with it, I didn't have the guts to tell ds school so he is doing a 'sickie' tomorrow, but if it becomes a regular thing I will have to tell the truth. Feel like a naughty child myself fibbing to the teachers!

MelodyDaisy · 14/10/2008 22:24

That's castings DS1 has had 4 paid jobs, DD has had 1 job + 2 castings and DS2 has just started to take off this last week or so too!
Has had 3 castings, 1 job, 1 recall/wardrobe next week and another job this Thursday.
Yes I am exhausted but it's so lovely to see my kids doing what they really do enjoy and having these chances.

We went in and spoke to my DS1 school headmistress and explained and that it could be really good for him etc(he gets bullied) and she's behind him 100%. Going in to speak to DD school headmistress tomorrow too and DS2 is only at pre-school so doesn't matter. We also went in to speak with them at the borough regarding licenses, the more of a rapport and relationship you build up with these people the less likely they are to stand in your way or make things difficult As soon as you start to not do this the more likely they are to make life difficult in the long run!!

Did anyone else see the Dora commercial this morning?

Was advertising the programme. Little boy doesn't speak, "Dora " does though.

Could have been any of our ds''s, although maybe 3 or 4 by the look of him. My ds is 5.

MelodyDaisy · 15/10/2008 11:32

Didn't see it unfortunately, am alway's too busy with having 3 DC to get ready

My DS2 has been pencilled for the casting he went to yesyerday YIPPEE!! Keep your fingers crossed everyone
He's got his photographic job tomorrow in Streatham, never been there before!

yummymummyno1
We ahve meat lots of really nice normal people and met/seen only 2 parents who I would steer clear off, so all in all no problems.
Pushy mums do not go down well with casting directors but you do need to stand up fro your kids if necesary.
H

MelodyDaisy · 15/10/2008 14:19

I told a 10 year old girl off once on DS1's commercial shoot, the father was there but doing nothing and she was being soo mean and nasty so I told her quite blatantly to stop being such a nasty girl and to leave him alone
Dreadlocks is right, the cd notice it and it doesn't look good at all, you have some parent's moaning alot about waiting around etc, so they should just not do it then if they feel this way!! lol

OP posts:
yummymummyno1 · 15/10/2008 16:49

dreadlocks - thanks, you never know what to expect when you first start out.
Well ds did first ever job today and seemed to do really well (or is that because I am his mum). Met a few other mums and they all seemed really nice so I think I was worrying over nothing.

dreadlocks · 15/10/2008 17:49

yummymummyno1
glad ds's job went well, what was it for?
I am still to meet anyone off this site though my ds is older than most of your children, I nearly met someone once but we were early for a casting and she was late so we missed each other.
One mum i saw at the casting studio was nagging her child before he was called to go in and when he came out she smacked him because he said he did "OK".Poor kid

tinkerbellchelle · 15/10/2008 17:52

Hello everyone, kinda caught up with what people have been up to since being back from holidays

Sent UAN contract yesterday so thats sorted, just waiting for the pictures now maybe that will be once the cheque has cleared?

Yummymummyno1 - glad your DS's job went well - you will have to let us know who it was for and we can keep an eye out
Which agency is your DS with?

Hope everyone is well x

yummymummyno1 · 15/10/2008 18:13

It was a shoot for 'Hasbro' he had to dress up like Indiana Jones and wave a whip around - great fun for a 7 year old! Think it is for Argos catalogue. Was good fun and people were really nice.
We are with SW, was not sure about high start up costs but only been on website a week and got job so hopefully will pay off.

Serenbach · 15/10/2008 19:03

That's great Yummymummy your son's done really well.

Melody - would love to see a picture of your DC as they sound so busy and have had so much work...well done x

Serenbach · 15/10/2008 19:05

Tinkerbellechelle....hmmmm that's a thought I haven't even noticed if my cheque for UAN has gone through, will have to go to my banking online to check !

MelodyDaisy · 15/10/2008 20:01

Serenbach- You can look on my profile to see them if you like, have opened it for a while
They are all pig ugly bytheway, they're unique should we say! pmsl!!

OP posts:
HellFireandDamnation · 15/10/2008 20:44

Melody - they are not pig ugly!

I can't believe that mother who smacked her child - I would have had to say something and at least find out which agency she was with and make a complaint. In fact do you know? - 'cos maybe I will!
