Ciao, hello, welcome!

Nah, Posh would love Milan, she wanted Becks to come here rather than go to Madrid but Milan weren't interested at the time. I don't know whether she'd ba able to tear herself away from the A-listers though. Who cares anyway, it's not Posh I'm interested in.

Franca, peanut butter is delish, especially with chunky marmalade on dark (pref rye) bread. I also use it in stir fries, mix a teaspoon of pb with a teaspoon of sambal oelek. Don't ever get the sweet American stuff though, it bears no resemblance to the humble peanut whatsoever. Sainsbury's or Whole earth wholenut is the best. Can you tell I'm an afficionado?

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 20:32

Did you have to climb trees and shake branches to pick the olives? [ignorant urban dweller emoticon, but I did see that done in a newsreel thing circa 1938 or something]

PippiCalzelunghe · 22/10/2008 20:35

which one is the sweet american stuff? bet is the one I'm getting. must get sainsbury's tomorrow.

Sputnik · 22/10/2008 20:45

Sorry Franca, I should never have mentioned the peanut butter from the jar thing. I wish I'd never tried it myself!

I was wondering about Tantik too.

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 20:46

There must be some branch shaking involved... is the weather still nice in le marche? still very warm here, but humid and overcast.

I bought Duerr's crunchy peanut butter (made in MANCHESTER) from superpolo in the Britt section. Not sweet at all. I bought it to make a thai curry last saturday. I'm addicted. It's even a bit salty yummmmmmmmmmm.

Well Milan is not that big in celebrities. Never bumped into many.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 20:50

I can't believe I was skeptical of your suggestion sputnik . And now all i can think of is peanut butter....

Yes Tantik hasn't been on for a while, has she? Maybe she is making the most of this gorgeous autumn in the alps

It's the stuff that is usually quite bright yellow, has a ton of sugar in it and is quite sweet. "Proper" pb should be brownish and not contain any sugar at all.

Off for another partita di Scarabeo, DP still hasn't resigned himself that he's never gonna win. Am contemplating having people over for a scarabeo party this weekend, just like in the old days when we used to have Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit parties[serious nostalgia emoticon]. Ah, those were the days.....

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 20:56

Duerr's is the one I buy when I can't get any from the UK, it's OK.

Milan is full of slebs, I used to bump into loads in the old dys when I went out a lot. Mick Hucknall, U2, loads of famous models, Sting, Walter Zenga (yes, I know, not strictly a sleb but he was at the time). Paolo Maldini, Simona Ventura when she was normalish, Laura Freddi (ex-sleb), some famous Italian singer whose name escapes me, plus a few others that have faded into the mists of my memory. Not yet managed to bump into George however, maye I'll have more luck with Becks

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 20:58

We used to have trivial pursuit and pictionary party too in our early 20s. Youth was totally wasted on me

Sat behind Gianni Versace at a concert once, argued about a cab with that talentless American woman with big boobs that was on the telly (Wendy something) and turned down Giovanotti's offer of a drink (didn't realise who he was). Gosh, it's all flooding back, my past life is flashing before me

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:02

Yep, I saw lots of models too, but that was for my job. I once was at the same chinese restaurant as Bettino Craxi and my friend kept saying "penso che ordinero' del MAIALE".

Once me and another friend of mine saw jack la caienna (I bet noone knows who he is ) in corso vittorio emanuele and nearly pissed ourselves laughing! (jack la caienna was a d list celebrity, famous for pretending to swallow tazzine da caffe' on 1970s tv shows

Celebrity wise Pippi has the great matt dillon story.

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:03

It was on me to a certain extent. I also went out clubbing and to parties, but a night in over Pictionary always won hands down.

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:04

Ah yes, Matt Dillon story. That is the utltimate brush with a sleb!

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:04

Did Craxi order maiale in the end?

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:05

Tell us the true brangelina you didn't spend that much time playing trivial pursuit, did you? You were out clubbing with jovanotti and versace, while I was wasting my youth in monogamous and boring relationships playing pictionary and watching heimat

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:06

No it was my friend who kept shouting Maiale, in a subtle way to insult our former PM

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:06

I was always dragged to these events you understand, I'd much rather have played Trivial Pursuit than watch the back of Versace's head

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:07

Didn't he send one of his scorta over to threaten her?

Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:08

Craxi was a real slimeball, wasn't he. His daughter also makes me cringe.

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:20

Yes, his daughter is evil.
Well, don't want to make you but we celebrated new year's eve with family playing TABOO

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:22

Now that's an idea, a NYE scarabeo party. Would have to drug all the children though

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:28

Children??? they can play snakes and ladders or uno, very popular in our household, despite being the cause of huge psicodrammi.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:38

I'd love them to do that, but one of DP's friends has 2 teppisti. They don't "do" sedate games. Otherwise I'd just pile them all into DD's room and let them look after her play together nicely.

What's a UK size 7 in Italian shoe sizes, do you know?

francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2008 21:41

Pay them a babysitter
39?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/10/2008 21:44

Sorry I meant children's shoes. The adult ones I can just about manage.

Nah, babysitter no good, they'd lead her astray, poor impressionable mite that she is.
