Luce2006 · 04/09/2008 08:42

Thanks great Tink!!!
I am sure your ds will be a little star!!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Luce2006 · 04/09/2008 08:55

sorry that was meant to be : That's great news Tink!!

3kids1cat · 04/09/2008 09:32

Steph my dd is 5 and ds is 7. Dd is already with UA south, and will be on the books for both north and south as we are in the Midlands. They have already said they want ds on the books after seeing his photo's so luckily I wont have to do that waiting by the phone thing again.

For my dd they only did head shots so I wouldn't worry about jeans too much.

jojosmaman · 04/09/2008 15:54

Hey, just noticed this thread so thought I'd say hi! I applied to UAN for my ds and had the consultation this morning in Manchester but I don't think we will get any further, I didnt get the impression that they were keen on having him on their books. I thought that they might have spoken to me about the process and what is required but they just did a couple of shots so I guess he's not what they are looking for. Having said that ds was well behaved and I didnt have to chase him round the studio so it was a nice little adventure for us. They were really nice though so good luck to the others who have consultations coming up!

JeanGrey · 04/09/2008 15:58

Hi everyone. You can get plain white tops in Primark in the children's section. They have a set of two - one pink and one white.

Luce2006 · 04/09/2008 16:26

Hi jojosmaman
I had the same impression as you. They didn't look interested in my ds at all.No chat about the modelling world as stated on the email...thay took 3 picturs of my ds and that was it.I really thought that it was going to be a no but I was wrong and we did receive a phonecall from them after 10 days circa saying that they were offering him a contract. Nothing has come our way yet but I am in no hurry so we just wait.
Fingers crossed you'll get the phone call

jojosmaman · 04/09/2008 17:05

Hi luce2006- Yes that's what I thought, I expected a chat about how it works etc but it was really informal. Maybe they wait for you to ask the questions if you have any but we'll see!
ps your ds is gorgeous, your pics are great, I'd book him!

puffling · 04/09/2008 17:37

Hi Jojosmaman. DD and I have our consultation tomorrow. I've got 6 white tops in front of me trying to decide which. How did the photographer encourage your ds to smile? Did they have any toys/distractions there?
Good luck!

3kids1cat · 04/09/2008 17:42

Hello all, dd has a casting monday and tues, hopefully something will come of these ones!

jojo, they were pretty similar with my dd and she got offered a contract too, so don't rule it out.

yummymummyno1 · 04/09/2008 17:54

Hi, am new here but would be grateful for any advice - my son has just been offered a contract with Scallywags, does anyone know if they are any good and do they have many models at castings?? Thanks

tinkerbellchelle · 04/09/2008 18:14

Hi
Had my consultation this afternoon - DS enjoyed himself - they did some shots with " natural " hair and then used some gel to ruffle it up a bit.

Had DS is stiches as the photograper made a fart noise and said it was me, and of course DS thought this was hilarious.

They said they had a lot of good shots and the few they showed me which they said they liked were gorgeous ( but of course Im biased ) but maybe they were just being poilte, so to be honest even though DS enjoyed it and I loved the few pictures I saw I have no idea of how they felt LOL! Just a case of waiting now and if its like last time when he was a baby it will be a no oh well he enjoyed himself and having lunch out so nothing lost

Puffling - there was some toys in the downstairs waiting area - and some upstairs before the photo's - DS was playing with a noisy thing with the 2 ladies while I was filling in his form and then they measured him and off he went.
They were all lovely and made both me and DS feel at ease.

Good luck to all those who have consultations

jojosmaman · 04/09/2008 18:49

Puffling- The photographer made some noises and peepos to get ds to smile but he was not having any of it and preferred this face !

Tink, your consultation sounds like it was much more encouraging than mine, we just had natural hair (not a good look on my ds, it can get bit wild!!) and then they didnt bother with gel or anything so must have thought they'd seen enough.

Good luck to others though!

jojosmaman · 04/09/2008 18:50

Yummy- sorry I can't help, this is all new to me too! I am sure a pro will be along soon

brooke77 · 04/09/2008 19:29

Hi, wonder if anyone has any advice, I have a 15 month old son who I think is gorgeous (doesn't everyone), however I also get told at least a few times every week that he should be a model as he has such stunning blue eyes. I haven't really done much about it but I think maybe I should, for one I think he would really love it as he is very confident and loves to meet new people - and just loves the camera! Any advice on where to start, what agencies to go to??? Are there any good websites out there? I just don't want to get conned and want to make sure he has a good time doing it. Thanks

yummymummyno1 · 04/09/2008 20:09

brooke77 - thanks for that. Start up costs with SW quite high so needed a little reassurance.

Steph8880 · 04/09/2008 20:22

Hiya Ladies,

3kids - congrats on the castings hope they go well.

jojosmaman - sounds like it doesn't take them long to decide if the lo's got what they are lookingfor so hopefully you will still get a yes

Tinkerbellechelle - sounds like your DS had fun, hope my DD enjoys hers on Sun, bit worried about the natural hair though, hers is wild!!

Puffling - good luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes.

tinkerbellchelle · 04/09/2008 21:01

Good luck to all that have there consulatations coming up

JoJo - Im sure they had the perfect shot with the ones they took of your DS How old is he? I thought they were all lovely weren't they.

tinkerbellchelle · 04/09/2008 21:03

Steph - yeah he had a brill time, and I have no idea as to how they feel it went - but the main thing to me was that he had fun Good luck for Sunday

Grumpalina · 05/09/2008 09:36

I am after a bit of advice. Went to the UAN casting in Manchester today. They were v enthusiastic re DS2 (he's 4) stating he would get 'loads of work'. However I am very new to all this and naively (it appears) thought most of the work/castings would be out of school hours (ie holidays, weekends, after school). Could someone give me an idea of how much this is the case and how much I would be expected to take him out of school (which I really don't want to do,apart from the fact I know in advance that the school won't be keen).

totallyfloaty35 · 05/09/2008 09:43

most castings are out of school hours but most jobs are in school hours.
agencies to try are kl,bb,u/a and mot ,also nc,ak,bk.

totallyfloaty35 · 05/09/2008 09:44

sorry agency info was for lisa

brooke77 · 05/09/2008 09:46

hi grumpalina.. most london castings (I imagine will be the same in the northern counties) are after school although sometimes it is necessary to leave school early depending on if you have a specific casting slot and what time school ends for your child/where you need to get to etc. On occasion I have had to take my ds out of school early for a casting. Jobs can be during school hours and then you need permission from the school for a licence etc. We've been to jobs during school hours, but also at the weekend and school hols. So very difficult to gauge exactly how much school your ds may miss.
Sounds like you've had some wonderful feedback from UA.. they are a superb agency and you have nothing to lose really to go ahead with them if offered a place and see what castings/jobs come your way and how it works out for your ds. Personally I think at 4 yrs old, to miss a little school is not such a bad thing if he enjoys the modelling world.. he'll be getting some super experiences !
Good luck!
