Hi. Just wanted to say that my DS1 has a casting on Monday already and only went to see AK 2 weeks ago!!

Anyone else got castings/jobs coming up?

DD (who's 2.5) has an interview with Boss in Manchester at the end of october. Urban Angels North say they like her but haven't decided yet whether to see her. Has anyone else had that reply? I'm a bit nervous of it all really and winder if I'm doing the right thing.

natnoonoo · 22/08/2008 19:26

people always tell me she's tall but she's the shortest in her class at school.im totally shattered now i got lost on way back must have circled central london for over an hour to end up back near studio, i was so stressed.let us know if anyone heres anything about todays casting your dd or ds are the lucky ones x x x

MelodyDaisy · 22/08/2008 19:27

Only you can answer that one I'm affraid as we don't know your DD, but it does no harm looking at other option's instead of just hanging around to hear from one agency. You don't have to give a yes straight away if you went to see other agent's you know so please don't feel you have to rush into anything

OP posts:
MelodyDaisy · 22/08/2008 19:29

natnoonoo-Did you drive then?! Bless ya cotton socks, just picturing you going round in circle's!! lol
Is cheaper for me to just hop on the train, unless of course it's an early appt then it cost's me more than £50 (angry)

OP posts:
natnoonoo · 22/08/2008 19:41

lol! its not funny really i was nearly in tears when i ended up back near islington... i dnt really like waiting around on public transport when ever i sit on train i just think wish i was in car although i did at one time say to my dd im parking up leaving the bloody car and catching the train!!it was actually easy to get to straight up a40, but nearly everything one way so i couldnt just retrace my tracks i took one wrong turning and that was it i was lost x

MelodyDaisy · 22/08/2008 19:48

This is why tube/train is good!! pmsl
I used to drive around London and while I prefer driving, it really doesn't make any sense now!! lol I was always fine driving in and like you I often got lost coming out! lol Plus you have the worry of if there is anywhere to park round there or not! If I was to get an early job/casting then I will probably drive then as possibly cheaper but that's it.

It's such an anxious thing waiting around to find out isn't it?! My DD is obviously way too small, but I don't think it will be long before who ever get's it finds out if they are filming on 5th and 6th!

christabel · 22/08/2008 19:57

Amummi = Where are you - we are in Leeds and had a reply from UAN saying they like DD and will find out first week in Sept if they want to see her in Manchester. Currently with another agency in Manchester but only had 1 straight job and 1 casting this year so really want to look at changing agencies. Keep fingers crossed for UAN.

liahgen · 22/08/2008 20:07

my ds is 5 but 111cms. Only 3 brownies left when we got there!!

We were the 12.30 slot, but got delayed.

Who knows, good luck all

liahgen · 22/08/2008 20:09

it's photographic, and a commercial they are shooting

amummi · 22/08/2008 21:33

Hi Cristabel. We're in manchester and got exactly same message as you from UAN. Are you able to say which Manchester agency you're with? I've had acceptances from Tuesday's Child and Kidz but not followed it up because of the initial costs. I've arranged the interview with Boss as they seem like they're bigger than the other 2. My concern over all is that as a none driver, I'l have trouble getting to castings? What do you think?

MelodyDaisy · 22/08/2008 22:05

Liaghen- We sort of left at that time so probably saw you walking down the street! There was a little boy just turning up as we were walking out the door. Did your DS enjoy it?

OP posts:
liahgen · 22/08/2008 22:27

yeah he did bless him. He wanted to shout Mini Cooper at the end when they had to say, I did it, but my elder ds told him not to.

Mini Cooper is a spot them game we play when out and about.

natnoonoo · 22/08/2008 23:01

is that like mini pinch and beetle bash? my dd kepy getting me on way there. melodydaisy wouldnt worry about the height thing maybe they looking for a smaller girl for the part. let me know if you here anything? do they call you if you dont get the part do you know

MelodyDaisy · 22/08/2008 23:26

No they don't call you, a shame though, atleast it would put us mum's out of our misery!!

My DD exhausted me on the way home on the train, she just did not shut up and was singing at the top of her voice too, bet all the passenger's loved that!! pmsl

They will normally try and match kids together in height 9 out of 10 so I would assume it's a no no
Make sure you let me know if you hear anything too!! Although it's been great that my kids have been so busy already, I am absolutely exhausted and gotta go back to London AGAIN on Tuesday for DS1's film casting, so gonna sleep ALL weekend!(well, I can dream about that anyway)!! Oh, and back in London AGAIN on 30th for the AK photoshoot, they not even on their website with proper pics yet!!

Liaghen-Please your DS enjoyed it too.

Hi all. Glad to be reading this very useful thread! DS1 (12, 13 in a months time) has just been accepted with SW (awaiting result for DS4 - 14 months).

I see SW are a sole agency, and, as they have fees (and I may have TWO kids accepted!) I'm worrying whether we should have gone for a non charging agency instead. We have 10 days to decide! Any ideas?

DS1 wants to act really, and we saw these agencies as a way to start him off and get a portfolio. He's done newspapers work (interviews and photos) and two tv slots (filmed for news items).

brooke77 · 23/08/2008 13:04

hi thenewstead.. SW are a very good agency. AK get a lot of acting work, may be worth trying. If your ds really wants to act it may be worth looking at acting agents such as A&K, Younguns etc. With some of these you can join another (non sole) agency as well for strictly modelling jobs such as MOT (which have low fees). Also BB, UA very good agents with little of no start up fees. and KL but i think they get more photographic work. Always good to take your time and see what offers you get before deciding on an agent.. good luck !

MelodyDaisy · 23/08/2008 13:09

AK I can certainly recommend for acting side of things.
I have just joined my kids into AK, as their main sort of interest was in this work area and AK do seem to be at alot of castings.
Obviously with any agent, it also depend's on your child as to what work they may get, or be put forward for. I know Younguns are good too, not seen them out yet but know of people who have had work through them

OP posts:
thenewstead6 · 23/08/2008 14:27

Thanks for those replies! I've emailed MOTJunior, and am sorting photos to send to KL. I can't find AK's details anywhere - is someone able to give me the link?

Still not sure what to do about SW.. may well depend on whether or not DS4 gets in too! I'm thinking that KL might be better for him as he's 14 months - their fee for a baby seems more reasonable/sensible.

brooke77 · 23/08/2008 14:49

alphabetkidz.co.uk
and my typo before should have been acting agent A&J (management)

marymay · 23/08/2008 15:35

thenewstead6..My two children are older 10 and 12 and are with u/a.Most of their castings over the last year have been for television work.
sw are good but i think over the last three years we have only meet children from the agency a hand full of times at castings and my ds has been quite lucky and had a few.i would say if you dont want to wait untill u/a do the next intake try mot bb or kl
good luck

christabel · 24/08/2008 10:05

Hi Amummi
DD with Nemesis but think Boss are bigger in terms of getting kids work. I do drive but tend to go to Manchester on train as most castings near train station so shouldn't be too much of a problem if you don't drive.

MelodyDaisy · 24/08/2008 21:02

For those of you who went to the Dora casting on Friday, can you remember who the casting director was?

My DS1 has a film casting at Twickenham Studio's on Tuesday, is anyone else going to be there? If you are then let me know

OP posts:
ichef · 25/08/2008 11:43

Just got a call for a casting for dd tomorrow, finally !

Have also decided to wait until ds2 is a bit older to join an agency, have told dd's agency about him and they said they'll keep a photo just in case.

Anyone seen bb's new website?

MelodyDaisy · 25/08/2008 11:54

Ichef, whoo hoo !!
Bet you are really excited now!! What's it for? How old is your dd? I bet she's really excited too!

For the people who's little ones were shortlisted from UA has anyone heard yet?
