New thread open for reports on local wildlife, the weather, gardening and domestic chores. Plus the never ending hunt for HBFs who stubbornly fail to materialise.

Evening all. No rain here today, had a nice each walk at the beach though. And cooking.

LetUsPrey · 31/08/2026 07:11

Morning wenches.

Beach walk sounds so nice.

Nothing out of the ordinary planned for today, just hopefully quiet pottering.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/08/2026 13:52

Afternoon all. I have spent the day so far feeling tired, and slobbing out on the sofa in PJs doing very little!

Afternoon/evening. Nice day with a bit of sunshine and the occasional shower. I haven't done much either, just general pottering about.

Weird dream deparment: I dreamt we were at a wedding and the venue was a petrol station. Hmm There was a nice garden at the back and the meal consisted of a bowl of soup and cake which we ate on our laps. We didn't know anyone there, not even the bride and groom, and as we were bored we made our excuses and left. Now what was that about? Confused

Hope everyone's had a nice day.

LetUsPrey · 31/08/2026 20:39

Evening wenches.

That’s a weird one Apricot! Cake though for the win 😁

A pyjama day of not doing much sounds like it was needed Helen.

Cleared the kitchen worktops off this morning and gave them a good clean (because gosh they were disgusting behind the small appliances we have on there). Don’t know where that burst of cleaning energy came from but it wore off very quickly. I’ve crocheted some baby hats, not too happy with the last one but hopefully someone will like it.

Watched Brave this afternoon which I’ve not seen for ages. Love it. I’ve got The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on now because apparently I’ve turned into my dad.

FancyFancy · 31/08/2026 21:56

Evening, have had a couple of productive days, did a bit of deep cleaning as it's been too showery to get much done in the garden - plus the dead grass looks more depressing than ever, if that's possible, as now it's dark brown rather light brown! I was looking forward to a relaxing evening, but Floof had other ideas and threw up on my bed. So have had to strip that right down, do two loads of washing and try washing the affected bit of duvet as he had waited until after any dry cleaners had shut. Little furry fucker. No spare bedding as that was in the wash, so will have to sleep in DDs bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/08/2026 22:00

Evening all. I have done a tiny bit of work today, but it was well worth doing because it has saved me a headache later in the week. I have also had an actual headache but it seems to have gone - no thanks to sodding Booking.com who have sent me a request for more details, inc. card, for an upcoming booking - "Do this in 12 hours or we'll cancel your booking", but then their screen hangs. There is no response from either of the live chat options which cheerily say "Let us know if you have any queries!" FFAS. The fact that I booked it months ago for a Friday night - I'm not convinced how easy it will be to find a replacement. <sigh>

Anyway - excellent bonkers dream Apricot - I had one recently where my car turned into a van and I had a go at a random woman for just getting into it. Odd.

I'm sure that all your baby hats are lovely LetUs.

Argh Fancy - fecking cats! Speaking of which, we've had a couple of radiator cat beds donated to us, which the Slinky in particular loves.

Sending positive growing thoughts to your grass Sad

And finally. Arghhh. Think the booking.com thing was a scam - apparently quite common and their security is shite. I got suspicious and googled it. Have just cancelled my card online. Website says
Next steps
A new card has not been ordered...
Immediately I got a text from the bank saying
"You should receive a new card within 5 working days..."
FMAL. I'd like to introduce their right hand to their left hand and then smack some heads together.
Better change password on Booking.com as well. FML again.

Morning wenches.

Epically bad timing there Floof. Hope Floof just overate or had a hairball or something. Cat before LetUsCat ate too quickly and was sick quite often, but not as much once I stopped the gravy food.

Oh blimey Helen, why do things have to be so difficult? Hope you’ve got everything sorted out.

I can already feel that for a short week this is going to be a long week.

Have super days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 01/09/2026 17:48

Afternoon. Nice morning but clouded over later. I ferried DH for a car service this morning and as I've said before I hate driving with him. I feel like I'm taking a test. Hmm He's got an MOT tomorrow at another garage, so I have to do it all again.

Oh dear Fancy that wasn't very considerate of Floof, but when are cats considerate?

That sounds like a nightmare Helen. Everything is so hard these days. I think it was easier and a lot less stressful when you had to go into an actual shop or a bank to do things.

Hope LetUs's day wasn't too bad.

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2026 20:47

Evening wenches.

I agree Apricot. Some things are easier face to face and I’m finding more clients are saying that too.

Work can get in the actual bin.

Car service tomorrow so at least I’ll get some steps in walking to and from work from the garage.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/09/2026 21:58

I did that 'forgot to post' thing again. This would be because I had a headache, went back to bed, and then got called out of bed for a phone call. Then the day just progressed without me going near my laptop.

The day was mostly me trying to get work done whilst also helping set up a village event. Which reminds me, I'm meant to be doing a Facebook post for it. <wilts>

FTFO to LetUs work and Paddington Bear Stare at MrA for being a lousy passenger. It must be that time of the year - my car is also off for a service and MOT this week.

Morning wenches.

My work can take your headaches with it Helen. Hope you’re feeling better today <squidge>

Fairly gloomy here this morning. Met Office say heavy rain all morning, including when I’m walking to the office, BBC weather says possibly light rain so I’m choosing to believe the latter today.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2026 07:43

Morning wenches. Sunny here with maybe some light rain later. KillerKitty has been out and about overnight - no evidence lying about (that I can see), but he hasn't moved from his box, so I think he's sleeping something off. Spot is asleep on me, and Slinky is outside somewhere. I need to get ready for work. Poor Spot.

Have a good day all, fingers crossed for cars!

Afternoon. Bit of a miserable day with showers every now and then but not cold. DH’s car passed its MOT. I think men drive more aggressively than women and he expects me to drive like him and I don’t. Anyway it’s over for another year.

Hope Helen’s headache has gone and it didn’t rain on LetUs.

We’re going to the caravan tomorrow. The weather doesn’t look good but DH can’t play golf because of the shoulder injection so we might as well have a break.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2026 20:36

Evening wenches.

The rain was jolly considerate and saved itself for just gone 9 and stopped not long after lunch. Car is serviced and clean.

I thought “I’ve a cat asleep on me” was a valid excuse for not working?

Hope you get some good weather Apricot and enjoy your break.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2026 23:11

Evening all. Busy day of work and more work. The heavens opened at about 5pm, but fortunately I was stuck trying to reconcile a spreadsheet, so it had blown through by the time I actually left. Then home and more work.

We have a few days of logistics coming up over the next few days. My car is in for a service, DS needs a lift, I need a lift, someone needs to pick my car up, DS needs a pick-up, I need a lift home, the manshapes are going to a gig, DS wants to go clubbing and needs a lift home... I feel quite exhausted contemplating it all, but I'll be away from tomorrow lunch to Friday evening with a friend, so that will be fun.

Glad to hear that all cars behaved themselves today - hopefully a good omen for mine tomorrow.

Have a lovely break Apricot, fingers crossed for the weather being better than the forecast!

Morning wenches.

Oh gosh Helen that sounds like you need one of those murder suspect boards with the red string except for working out lifts and cars. Enjoy lunch and visit with friend.

It’s proper gloomy this morning. Seems quite breezy too.

We’re back to the usual early evening traffic already. And oh look, roadworks just as the schools go back. I realise it’s not deliberate etc etc but I can still glare at the temporary traffic lights (unless they stay on green for me 😁)

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2026 10:31

Morning all. First SNAFU of the day - the garage said it wasn't booked in for a service, just a MOT. Hmm I beg to differ, but the MOT is due and we'll just have to hope the car goes through ok. The friend I'm travelling with has 'gone dark' so now I'm opening a book on there being a last minute cancellation from her (I'll phone her to check). At least the trains are running ok (so far)
<sigh> Never mind, all will be well, one way or another.

It's cloudy and threatening rain outside, though there's none forecast until tonight.

Have a good day all - may the lights ever be in your favour LetUs Grin

Evening wenches from a cloudy and windy Wales. It’s warm though. Misty was good in the car and has slept all afternoon in the little bedroom.

Gosh Helen you do take on a lot. Hope the car passed and your friend turned up.

Also hope the lights were green for LetUs. They always seem to change to red just as I get to them.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2026 20:59

Evening wenches.

Not an ideal start to your day Helen. Hope the car got sorted and your friend appeared.

😁at may the lights be ever in your favour. Perhaps NC and I should start doing the three finger salute (rather than the currently popular two finger salute). Traffic isn’t too bad on the way in, but home time traffic is crap already. Ah well I get home eventually and I’ve got another Peter Wimsey to listen to. I’ve done this one at least twice before and could not tell you whodunnit.

LetUsPrey · 04/09/2026 07:01

Morning wenches.

Gloom rain etc. Checked the forecast for the weekend though and it’s rather nice so it’ll be washing city.

Must set myself a sort of timetable for going out for a walk. Not really practical during the week but I’ve got to get moving somehow.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2026 09:12

Morning all. Fab night out, friend did appear, and all travel and entertainment went smoothly. Also, the car passed it's MOT - hurrah. It's just started tipping down with rain though - Soggy London!

Glad Apricot is safely in Wales

Afternoon. It rained all night and there was a very cold wind this morning, but the sun has come out now. We went to do the usual Poundland/Savers shop earlier and I also got some yarn from the little shop there to do a modification on a winter jumper, which I’ve started.

Glad the car behaved and friend turned up Helen.

Hope the weather is fine for the washing LetUs.

Have a good evening all.
