New thread open for reports on local wildlife, the weather, gardening and domestic chores. Plus the never ending hunt for HBFs who stubbornly fail to materialise.

Afternoon. Quite a nice day, but it’s raining now. The app says thunder storms but I haven’t seen or heard any.

That’s very interesting about the eggs Helen. Poor hens.

Hope today has been better at work LetUs.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 30/06/2026 19:55

Evening wenches.

Work, if you can believe it, was worse. Information missing for what I’m working on, email fee earner asking for information and documents, eventually get email back with some of the information and documents but also mentioning and there’s these other things that need doing. That happened a couple of times today. Oh and the deadline’s tomorrow. I’m knackered.

We were supposed to have thunder all afternoon too. Had plenty of rain, no thunder though.

<looks around for anything Helen might have baked>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/06/2026 22:52

Evening all. No rain or thunder here, more's the pity. I was looking at the rainfall radar this morning and seeing the predicted rain moving across the country. Hopefully it will damp down the moors where there have been fires. <sides-eye at the Woodhead Pass>

I have baked fat-free sugar-laden sponges. In a fit of astonishing timing, I had them ready to go in the oven just as tea was coming out!

FFS at work LetUs - it sounds like our Year End fiasco - "Do all this by this deadline, but no, you can't have all the relevant information." [sigh] Tomorrow I will be running all the month-end report and trying to tally everything up so it balances. I feel exhausted at the thought. Doooooooooom.

Hope Wicked is enjoying her holiday and Fancy is managing to get sense out of her clients without being on-site!

Morning wenches.

Much rain overnight. I heard it because I was awake thinking/panicking about work like an idiot.

<helps self to a slice of cake> delicious 😋

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/07/2026 07:52

Morning all. Not the bed night's sleep but ho hey ho. Then I seem to have faffed around this morning (mostly wrangling livestock) and am running late.
DH has had a fit of.. something and decided that the utility and kitchen fridges need to be swapped round`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` (excuse Spot standing on the keyboard) so now I can't find things at home, never mind the supermarket! Apparently he can't see things on at the back of the shelves - how moving rooms will make it easier for him to use that fridge I don't know, but he had a bee in his bonnet about it and it was easier to let him get on with it. <sigh>

Lovely and sunny outside. The kittens are taking it in turns to sit on my lap, and I need to eat breakfast, get dressed etc. argh...

Hope that LetUsWork is less stressful today <watches pigs fly past the window>Sad

Afternoon. I think we had more rain overnight. Sun and cloud today.

Hope you can find everything in the fridges Helen. Hmm Excellent typing skills there from Spot. Grin

I do hope work has been better for you today LetUs, it does sound stressful.

I think there's some sort of football match on, and it's not going well. I suppose I'd better go and have a look.

LetUsPrey · 01/07/2026 19:59

Evening wenches.

Went in to work super early and stayed late but task is done. I’m not saying it’s all done perfectly right, but fee earner approved it (and to be honest I was correcting their mistakes plenty more than once) and it’s done.

Spot has excellent typing skills and is more than welcome to apply for a job. Might be overqualified actually. That’s definitely a “that’s nice dear” moment with MrHelen.

Thank goodness for that re the football. We’re going to have to jolly well pull our socks up though for the next match.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/07/2026 21:50

Evening. Work was a frustrating mix of systems being down and deadlines looming, and spreadsheets not matching. (FFS etc...) Still, home now watching some Glastonbury headliner highlights and DH cooked a v. tasty stir fry.

Morning wenches.

That work crap all sounds rather dreadful and frustrating Helen.

Rain all night, rain now, windy and dreary. We appear to have skipped straight to autumn.

Hoping for a slightly less manic day at work but who knows.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 02/07/2026 16:59

Afternoon. No overnight rain and it’s been a nice day. We sat outside this afternoon and sudokued. The wind was a bit chilly when the sun went in, but better than all that heat.

Phew at the football. I’m a bit torn about the next match because we’ve just signed the opponent’s striker, or re-signed because he was with us for five years. He was very happy here, his children were born here and he is much loved. He also nearly died playing for us. No-one can quite believe he’s coming back. Obviously I’ll support England but I’ll be sad for him if his team goes out.

All your work stories sound so stressful. Hope today has been better.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/07/2026 19:05

I thought I'd posted. Obviously not. All sun here again today and no rain (though I think there may have been a smattering overnight).

DH is out gigging and I have to cook. Arse.

LetUsPrey · 02/07/2026 20:24

Evening wenches.

A mercifully less stressful day but not without the challenge of hassle trying to do something on the computer system that should be straightforward but now needs many additional steps. Like changing everything round in the supermarket. Just makes everything that bit more of a pain. I think everything like this can now be compared to supermarket changes.

I know what you mean Apricot about being a bit torn with the football. We potentially play one of the teams I’ve got in the work sweepstake if they both get to the quarters (doubtful) and I like the other team too. Will obviously support England.

<sends emergency fish and chip delivery to Helen’s>

LetUsPrey · 03/07/2026 07:10

Morning wenches.

Seems to be dry here. I could get a wash on to take advantage as we have a rainy weekend but that would involve stripping the bed which I feel is a no.

Hurrah for Friday though!

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/07/2026 09:07

Morning all. Bit tired from picking up DH late last night - he was going to get a taxi, but I was still up so I just went to fetch him.

It's sunny here with no hint of rain for the foreseeable.

I'm running late and spreadsheets await. (Be still my beating heart, etc etc)

Afternoon wenches.

Have done absolutely nothing today, except ordering four jigsaws online, but at least it's not drugs, right?

Went to a greek restaurant on Tuesday and to a wonderfully quiet café after that for a cappuccino.

Fräsan is doing ok at the moment, doesn't seem to be in pain or something like that, but I will keep an eye on her.

Hope work was better today Letus and Helen.

I also hate when they change the layout of the store Apes Hmm

Hope everything is well with Chonk & Floof Fancy.

ApricotCrush · 03/07/2026 16:10

Afternoon. Nice day, I haven’t done any washing either and feel I’ve wasted the weather. I’m sitting outside with iPad, DH is on construction videos now. Hmm

That sounds like a nice relaxing holiday WW. Glad that Fräsan is well.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 03/07/2026 22:06

Evening wenches.

Work was much quieter today thankfully.

That’s good re Fräsan. Jigsaws are an excellent purchase. I’m making good progress with my current one.

Also feel like I wasted what turned out to be a dry day re washing, especially seeing as rain’s forecast most of the weekend.

These broken nights have really caught up with me. Feel like I don’t have much energy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/07/2026 22:32

Evening all. I have just finished work (fixing finance stuff for a meeting on Monday), and am eating an exciting meal of beans on toast.
<face plants on keyboard>

Glad to hear that Frasen is doing well, and the holiday is suitably chilled.

<pours drinks for everyone>

Morning wenches.

<tiptoes past Helen>

Very breezy here which should help to dry the washing. Lots of housework this morning, then out to a nearby village carnival/fair this afternoon.

Have lovely days wenches.

FancyFancy · 04/07/2026 11:58

Morning, just! Am away with DC for a gig. Has been a busy week and am still knackered!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/07/2026 12:20

Not-quite-morning all. Ooooh to village carnival - fun! I saw something on facebook recently for a local event and was keen to go. Of course, I have somethign else planned that weekend. <sigh>

It's sunny and windy here as well. I have watered plants and fed cats (and myself). I need to go out and go garden stuff again... On the other hand, I'm on the sofa and there's a book next to me. (I really do need to do the garden stuff though.)

Hope everyone having a lovely weekend, gigging or otherwise!

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 04/07/2026 16:52

Afternoon. Cloudy day but still quite warm. Still haven’t done any washing but I have cleared the ironing.

Nothing wrong with beans on toast Helen. Smile

Hope LetUs has fun at the carnival and Fancy enjoys the gig.

LetUsPrey · 04/07/2026 20:51

Evening wenches.

Carnival was fun. Very stuffy even though it was outdoors. Won a really good prize on the tombola and it was lovely to see an event be so busy. Got home and finished a jigsaw. The wind has just about died down.

Sofa and book sounds the best plan Helen. Someone else can always see to the garden but can they read your book for you? No, no they cannot. Logic.

Enjoy the gig Fancy/hope the gig was good.

<passes new sudoku book to Apricot>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/07/2026 22:24

Evening all.

I did get some gardening stuff done - slapped fake creosote on the chicken shed and then dug out some weeds later. The ground is so dry though - plants keeling over and everything Sad I need to plant some out still, but it seems a bit like making more work for myself - not that they don't need watering already in their little pots, but I'd still have to water then in the bed. <le sigh> Tomorrow...

Hurrah for the tomobola prize LetUs!

Morning wenches.

Perhaps our rain is on its way to you Helen. We’ve got plenty.

Was asleep last night and got woken up by DH and DS2 having a “discussion” about the football. I was not best pleased with either of them. And then it took a while to get back to sleep. Harrumph.

Usual Sunday ahead hopefully.

Have super days wenches.
