Afternoon. Cloudy day, we just went for a walk round the lake in the village up the road and it wasn’t cold.
Boggle no more LetUs. Here are some of the things I’ve sold on eBay:- old tax discs, empty cotton reels, a huge pile of old bricks, accessories from ancient sewing machines, old wine bottles, a ‘60s postal order, cracker novelties, petrol ration book, cabin key from a ‘50s steamboat, ‘40s knitting patterns, I could go on.
The saddest things I sold were a memorial plaque from WW1, often called a ‘dead man’s penny’, and a victory medal. I found them in the garden shed at my aunt’s after she died and I was clearing her house. I didn’t recognise the first name but his surname was that of an uncle-by-marriage, although he was never mentioned. There was no-one left to ask. I researched him and found a photo of his grave in France and his commemorative certificate; he was only 26.
I sold them to a group who collected medals and displayed them and felt it was a fitting tribute to a young man who gave his life for his country.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.
