Morning all. Gig was good but very loud and I forgot my earplugs, so there was much ear-ringing afterwards.

Hope that illing wenches are feeling better soon. I'm keeping fingers crossed that we didn't get anything from last night's outing (which would be just in time for Chistmas!) and we have a family party this afternoon which has already had one drop-out due to a stinking cold.

I've finally beaten DH's laptop into submission and have got my tabs to start loading - hurrah! Also hurrah for Wicked's job being safe, but boo for her colleagues.

Must crack on with wrapping and baking!

ApricotCrush · 14/12/2025 17:25

Afternoon. Not a bad day but I haven’t been outside except to the bin. DS came round with his children this afternoon and I gave them their presents as we won’t see them again until Boxing Day.

Oh Lordy the football LetUs. We score three goals against the top team away and we still lose. Unfortunately two of them were in the wrong net. 😩

Have a good evening all.

Evening all. I have done the family gathering and I'm stuffed with cake and a bit tired. Also been wrapping presents for posting, and realising that I'm short of one. So that parcel will have to wait. Ho hum...

DH has American football on TV. It is the most tedious thing in existence and I can't stand it. FML, etc. (He's left the room and I've changed channel!)

LetUsPrey · 14/12/2025 20:54

Evening wenches.

Rain. So very much rain.

DS1 and his girlfriend came round this afternoon and it was as lovely as ever to see them. They helped with decorating the tree. Girlfriend in particular is a whizz with a good eye for decorating.

It’s quite the sinking feeling Apricot isn’t it with the football? 😔

DS2 has been watching the American football. Completely agree with you Helen.

LetUsPrey · 15/12/2025 06:38

Morning wenches.

Still raining, although we are fortunate we don’t seem to be badly affected by flooding.

Hope both Wicked and Fancy are back to feeling their wenchy best.

Just bracing myself for the Monday ahead.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/12/2025 08:04

Morning All. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaark, headache, general urgh. DS was up beyond midnight doing homework because when he told me he was working on it, actually he was mostly working on his xbox score so I was woken by him traipsing about the place at stupid o'clock and I'm grumpy and tired, and need to have words when he's awake enough to register them. (Next week at this rate.)

We've had no rain over the weekend, so that's something. In other news, we had to take some tinsel down, because the IdiotKitty discovered it and was in danger of bringing it down along with the picture it was resting on. <le sigh>

Fingers crossed for a decent Monday for everyone. I have to finish my tax return today.

ApricotCrush · 15/12/2025 16:43

Afternoon, although it seems like evening. Horrible day, chucking it down and it hasn't got properly light. I went to town this morning with DD for a mooch and we lost each other in Primark when she went to try some stuff on and I went to look at the bags. It's a big store over three levels. Thank goodness for phones.

Hope the tax reurn wasn't too bad Helen and LetUs's work wasn't too annoying.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 15/12/2025 21:16

Evening wenches.

I think we had the same weather as you Apricot. Heavy rain and dark all day.

Three floors of Primark? I have problems finding what I’m looking for in ours (on the rare occasion I go in) and it’s only got one floor.

<cbf> at MiniHelen. Hope the tax return wasn’t too bad Helen.

Work was standard. As apparently is tonight’s football so far 🙄

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/12/2025 21:19

Evening all.

That sounds grim Apricot - we had a day like that a week or so back, when it just didn't get properly light. So depressing! Also urgh at losing each other in the shops. We did that in a local shopping centre where the phone signal is non-existent. I ended up floating around outside the shop we'd been in, DH went off to a different shop, and eventually DS managed to get a signal, report in to DH and then come and find me. Such a faff<nto>, and honestly, why do they build shopping centres in a way that blocks phone signals?!

Anyway. Work has been done. My tax return is submitted (hurrah!) and I need an early night. Also, still no rain here.

Hope that everyone has had a decent day!

LetUsPrey · 16/12/2025 06:55

Morning wenches.

I think it’s stopped raining. Although tomorrow’s forecast doesn’t look fun. Ah well, let us enjoy a day of not raining.

DS2 is being reluctant to get up which to be fair to him is quite unusual.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/12/2025 08:55

Morning all. Daaaaaaark, etc. Though the cloud has broken up/thinned out enough to let some sunlight in - quick, out on the sun loungers everyone!

Maybe if I cleared up the kitchen immediately after eating, that would help. Oh well, I shall stumble through the day...

ApricotCrush · 16/12/2025 16:51

Afternoon. Nice day with some sunshine, but dark now, although sunset was a fraction of a minute later than yesterday. Hmm

I've been sorting out my car insurance. I went all through the comparison sites, and in the end the quote from my current company was the best, so I attempted to renew through them. They don't make it easy. I'd forgotten my password so had to set a new one and they didn't like any of my first few attempts but got there in the end, so that's done for another year.

Had a card from someone I hadn't sent one to, so had to dive to the post box and hope it gets there in time.

Yay for submitted tax return and hope LetUsDS2 got up eventually.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/12/2025 22:03

Evening all. I have cleared up the kitchen already, so now I have no excuse for going to bed later than planned... <vanishes into internet worm-hole>

Posted more presents today, and chased up a missing order that Evri say they might possibly consider delivering at some unspecified point in the future, to somewhere in approximately the same country as appears on its address label. Hmm

Otherwise, nothing of excitement happening (or not that I can remember).

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Oh. There we go - excitement. MN says there has been an unexpected error and I can't post this message. Hmm again.

LetUsPrey · 17/12/2025 06:49

Morning wenches.

I think at this point excitement is overrated Helen 😁

Standard day yesterday of annoying people being annoying, and nice people (yes, honestly) being nice.

DS2 got up in time and didn’t miss his bus.

They really don’t make it easy do they Apricot? Look, I want to give you my money! Take it! Wellllllll okay but only after you’ve jumped through all these hoops.

Have said to DH I’ll make something for LovelyMIL for Christmas, except I can’t get the yarn until Saturday. Gosh I’m full of good ideas.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 17/12/2025 16:55

Afternoon. Horrible day, rain all day, cold wind. I did a Sainsbury shop this morning and was forced to listen to a screeching Mariah Carey et al on repeat as I went round. On the positive side though it was a free shop as I used the points I've collected over the year.

Lol at Evri Helen. They do seem to get in a mess but I must be lucky as I haven't had any trouble, although I do avoid them with selling.

Oh LetUs, you are putting yourself under pressure with LovelyMIL's present. I hope it isn't anything complicated.

Have a good evening all.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/12/2025 21:35

Evening all. Foggy this morning and a dreary grey day. Fortunately it burned off and then I don't remember what the weather was because I was inside most of the day swearing at spreadsheets. Though I did go out at lunchtime is it was cold - with added wind chill.

I hope it's a very simple/small project LetUs Confused

<arf> at Mariah Cary screeching in Sainsburys, and sympathies on the car insurance tedium. DH has taken that one over, since we're on a multi-car policy now which was originally just his. I'm very much not missing that. Though I'm still in charge of house insurance.

Hope all wenches are well <peers under blankets for Wicked and Fancy>

FancyFancy · 17/12/2025 22:05

Evening
Did you do the tax return just to stop HMRC from spamming you with reminders helen? They are relentless!

<passes earplugs to apricot> you have my sympathy, every time I hear her I find myself muttering 'pick a note & stick to it FFS'

My apologies to all wenches who experienced deluges today - all my fault. I remembered to bring washing in off the line as rain was forecast here all afternoon, consequently setting up a force field around my area & keeping the rain over everyone else.

LetUsPrey · 18/12/2025 06:58

Morning wenches.

I was going to say the exact same thing Fancy re the warbling 😁

Much rain here also and awful traffic. It’s not very festive.

Pattern is very simple and it’s crochet which (in theory) should be quicker. On the plus side, I’ve told DH that I’ll need quiet to be able to make sure it’s finished 😁

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/12/2025 09:29

Morning all.

<snort> at washing-induced weather. We had rain overnight from the look of things. The only washing quandry here at the moment is 'where did DS's hoodie go after he says he put it to be washed'? The answer is 'nowhere obvious'. <le sigh>

That's a cunning plan on 'I need quiet to do this' LetUs - I bet it doesn't work though. Nothing will silence a DH with a full day of activities to tell you about. Hmm Though as you say Fncy - you can silence HMRC by doing your tax return - for a few months anyway. Doubtless they're still banging on about 'Make Tax Digital' though (or whatever fresh hell it is that they want us to do.)

Today is 'last exercise before xmas' and I think that mince pies are planned, plus taxi-ing DS as normal and trying to fit some work in.

ApricotCrush · 18/12/2025 16:40

Afternoon. Horrible day, raining, wind, cold. One of the daaaaark days before Christmas as my Mum used to say.

I think I've finished with the photos so I've just got to transfer them from one external hard drive to two others. Not sure how that will go but I think it will be laborious. DH is working on DS's Lego table extension in the garage, so I'm sure I'll hear aaaaall about how it's going over the evening meal. Hmm

Hope everyone's had a good day.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/12/2025 21:03

Evening all. I have found you a more acceptable version of Mariah Grin
The weather here has been miserable since lunchtime - wind and rain in abundance. The road is in full puddle-flood mode.

Well done on the photos Apricot - that's been a job and a half for you! Hopefully copying to the hard drives will be seamless and no hassle!

DH has Sport Personailty on TV - Thierry Henri has just appeared, so I was contractually required to pipe up with 'Va-va-voom!'

Swagger Inn 179 - It's looking very Autumnal out there, time to get the winter coats out...
LetUsPrey · 19/12/2025 07:02

Morning wenches.

Straight to the top of the charts for that one Helen!

Your mum was spot on with that assessment Apricot. It’s really not pleasant.

Quite enjoyed SPOTY last night even though I hadn’t intended to watch, but I found myself rooted to the settee. May have had something to do with the work Christmas lunch. Thought I was going to need a seat belt extender in the car for the journey home.

Friday hurrah! Only two more work get ups hurrah!

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 19/12/2025 16:45

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day but cold with an overnight frost. I’ve done one of the hard drives, easy but time-consuming. There are nearly 25,000 photos.

We didn’t watch SPOTY, didn’t know it was on. For some unfathomable reason I can’t stand Rory. There’s someone in every sport that I take a dislike to, no idea why. Love his mate Tommy though.

Lol at alternative Mariah. Grin

Have a lovely evening all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/12/2025 19:42

Evening all. I thought I was beyond the stage of last minute "I need something Christmassy for school tomorrow" but no - 6:60pm and DS and DH tell me that DS needs something Christmassy to wear over his sporting gear tomorrow. Think of me kindly wenches, I have raided Mum's stash of material, I have a sewing machine and there will be festive-themed carnage...

LetUsPrey · 19/12/2025 21:55

Evening wenches.

That’s a lot of photos Apricot! Although I suppose if I added up all the ones I’ve got in the loft, on disc, etc etc, there’d be a few. I get what you mean about the unfathomable dislike for someone. Not Rory - no particular feelings either way really - but I know what you mean.

Oh good grief Helen that sounds like panic stations. I can crochet some sprigs of holly? So helpful.

Muppets at work as per usual have suddenly realised we’re heading into the Christmas break and there’s stuff they should have done but they haven’t. NC and I are muttering “your lack of planning is not my problem” over and over. Except it is. Pillocks.

I have vodka and am watching TOTP: Christmas 1990.
