Afternoon. Same weather here. We went another walk this afternoon and are now doing sudokus.

Yay for sporting medals and days off.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 04/11/2024 18:57

Evening wenches.

A walk and some sudokus sound a rather nice way to spend time.

Was mostly successful with shopping this morning, came back and made flapjacks and then did the ironing. More knitting this afternoon. Can feel that the temperature’s dropping though.

FancyFancy · 04/11/2024 21:18

Evening

Have had a lazy weekend - sold a few things on ebay, did a few chores but not much else. Am feeling a bit guilty but it was nice.

Have not done too much today either Grin Saw FancyMan for lunch - Floof is getting braver & allowed him to rub his belly - he didn't even need to bribe him with fish first! Both him & Chonk don't seem too bothered by the fireworks which is good.

Highlight of the day was probably putting a minor tweak in the recipe for spicy carrot & lentil soup which we had for lunch. A definite improvement.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/11/2024 21:42

That sounds like nice chilled days all round then. Nothing exciting here either. I need to make soup as well - we have tomatoes that need to be cooked up. Oh - excitement - I bought a new mattress topper. Whoop! (And discovered that my credit card was missing - it's safely tucked up in the safe at SportingVenue Hmm Idiot me. Though at least I tracked it down before I cancelled it.)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/11/2024 07:23

Morning all. It's grey and gloomy outside. IntelligentCat is trying to get comfy on my lap, which won't end well - I need to go and feed chickens.

Have a good day all!

LetUsPrey · 05/11/2024 07:31

Morning wenches.

Also grey and gloomy.

That sounds a most satisfactory day Fancy. Awww at Floof getting braver.

What a relief the card’s safe Helen! Is such a pain when you can’t find your card.

Rubbish sleep and unpleasant dreams. At least I’ve another day off.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 05/11/2024 16:30

Afternoon. Gloomy here too. We went into the big town this morning to do the usual Poundland etc. shop. My legs have caught up with all the walking of the last few days and are now complaining.

Well done on the eBay sales Fancy. I haven’t sold anything for a month, I’ll have to find a new strategy when I get home.

Eeeek at missing credit card Helen, glad it was found. I bought a mattress topper for the bed here. We both have dodgy backs and caravan beds aren’t the best. It’s lovely, I might get one for home.

Hope you get a better night LetUs.

Evening wenches.

Day’s plan went a bit awry because DS2 college start time was delayed so I had to shift things about a bit. Still a good day though.

I remember buying a mattress topper for DS1 for when he was first in halls at university. Made a difference for him too.

Fireworks with a vengeance here tonight which I suppose is understandable for today, but I’m still not keen.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/11/2024 22:14

Evening. We've had fireworks too - IdiotKitty was not impressed. I have also been ebaying... expect I was impulse buying Hmm Oh well... at least one was a present I was looking for. The other one was a present for me Grin
DH is scanning online for a new kettle, but he wants a flat element and nothing online describes the element. <le sigh, etc> The lid broke on ours - stopped opening due to bits of plastic falling off into the kettle Shock speaking of bits falling off, I was meant to be getting someone to look at the washing machine. Oops. Still, plenty of time to look for that, because there's a cake in the oven, still baking.

LetUsPrey · 06/11/2024 07:17

Morning wenches.

The lack of full descriptions on things is so frustrating. Why?! Is the kettle element a secret?

Looks to be turning quite chilly. Back to work and I’m absolutely raring to go.

<hides in a cupboard>

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 06/11/2024 16:01

Afternoon. It’s a bit colder here and more windy. We went for another walk this afternoon, but not as far as before. I’m now knitting although I don’t know where I’m going with it. Hoping for inspiration as I go along. Hmm

No fireworks here thank goodness, although Misty isn’t bothered by them.

Hope MrHelen sorted the kettle and LetUs had a reasonable day.

Evening wenches.

I agree Apricot, definitely turning colder. I am so impressed with your knitting skills! Pattern needed all the way here.

Work is a shitfest, but dentist went well. I’m rewatching Wolf Hall in preparation for the new series starting at the weekend.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/11/2024 21:05

Evening all. Bit of a manic day, apart from the weather which is still gloooooomy.

We have a new kettle. DH used it then immediately said it wasn't the one he'd wanted because it didn't have the feature that I specifically told him it didn't have before we bought it. <le sigh>

Am v. much looking forward to Wolf Hall, though also not because we all know how this one ends...

LetUsPrey · 07/11/2024 07:26

Morning wenches.

That sounds so familiar Helen 🙄. I watch Wolf Hall and when some of the more minor characters are on, I look them up and then think “mate don’t make any long term plans”l

Feels considerably colder this morning.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/11/2024 09:53

Grin LetUs - very much 'don't make any plans', and also 'Maybe just cut your losses and leave the country'?

The weather continues to be dark and dreary. Work continues to be work. Annoying people continue to not reply to my emails and phone calls. pfft. I'm going to put on fluffy socks and another layer - the morning exercise heat has dissipated.

ApricotCrush · 07/11/2024 16:30

Afternoon. After a rather cloudy morning the sun broke through and it’s been a lovely afternoon. I bet there will be a glorious sunset but DH is doing work to shut the caravan up so I don’t think he’ll be up for a treck over the dunes.

Oh I didn’t know there was a new series of Wolf Hall. I’ll do the same as you when we get back LetUs.

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 07/11/2024 20:08

Evening

Work being dull as usual. Am slightly peeved that someone working with me seems to have not completed their share of one project yet - thought they were working on it earlier in the week <harrumphs>

Thanks for the Wolf Hall heads up letus. I should probably also catch up on previous episodes.

Glad Misty isn't bothered by the fireworks either, she is one laid back kitty!

I hadn't seen what comment you were responding to helen and my first thought on 'Maybe just cut your losses and leave the country' was in reference to America Grin

LetUsPrey · 07/11/2024 20:58

Evening wenches.

Urgh it’s felt quite cold here today and it was proper daaarrrkkk when I left work. Plus I am ever so slightly poorly with a sore throat and headache. Woe etc.

Continuing with Wolf Hall.

That work situation sounds very familiar Fancy. 😁 at the leave the country comment meaning America.

Must have an early night.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/11/2024 23:05

I think 'Leave the country' applies in both situations really.

<cbf> at everyone's work and people not doing what they're meant to.

Today I put out the mattress toppers, and shut IdiotKitty out of DS bedroom so the topper didn't get 'catted'. Guess who came home and left his bedroom door open? Guess who was sleeping on the topper when we went up to put it on properly? <le sigh>

Am v. jealous of your sun Apricot - hope you had a nice sunset too.

LetUsPrey · 08/11/2024 07:14

Morning wenches.

Good of IdiotKitty to product test the topper. Any reviews?

Dark and cold, not a fan. My throat still hurts and I’m pissed off. Happy Friday!

Have lovely days wenches.

mechanicalpencil · 08/11/2024 07:37

Good morning
I’ve just stumbled across this lovely, calm thread! May I join? 🤗

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/11/2024 09:12

Morning. Urgh. rinse and repeat really. It's dark and gloomy and I have done the college run and logged into work.

IdiotKitty approves - he's stretched out on the bed again - though he usually is anyway so that's not really any measure.

Sympathies on the throat LetUs - my tonsils have been unpleasant this week. TCP is being gargled.

Damian Lewis was on Radio 2 this morning - he's clearly out on the promo trail for Wolf Hall. I read a very grumpy interview with him in the Radio Times as well where he came across of being overly argumentative and determined to be offended. v. odd.

Morning mechanicalpencil you will need to state you preference in terms of hot men in leather, as per the pictures on the first post, before you can even think about sharing your tales of domestic tedium Wink. Feel free, make yourself at home/pull up a bar stool, don't sit on the chaise (unless you're willing to burn the cover first and re-upholster it).

I need to get back to work. Intelligent cat has just come in to shout at me and install herself on my lap - at least that will keep me warm(er).

LetUsPrey · 08/11/2024 19:31

Evening wenches.

Everything what Helen said mechanicalpencil. Help yourself to bar snacks too.

Perhaps he’s been playing Henry VIII for too long and is still channeling being an unpleasant prat.

I’m poorly sick (a cold but obviously am dramatic) so once I’m back from collecting DS2, I’m going straight to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/11/2024 22:30

Dr Aramis is on his way up to check you over and mop your fevered brow LetUs Grin He will be very thorough. I will get Dr Athos to give me the once over as well, since I've been sneezing a lot today.

Work was workish. I did manage to balance the figures on one particularly challenging project today, which was good. Also found out that a reliably helpful and knowledgeable colleague has been poached by another dept. <cbf>

It's a bit late for a bath isn't it? I might have one anyway - or carry on faffing online. DS wants me to order Cards Against Humanity for pick-up tomorrow, so I'd best do that,

Hope everywench has had a good day.

Evening

Everyone welcome here @mechanicalpencil - as long as you can witter about your day & appreciate hot men Grin
Very empty in the office today as so many people work at home on Fridays - they're mad, best day of the week to be in the office as everyone's in a good mood. Wasted some time speculating on one person's mysterious absence & remembering that now seems good time to resurrect .........
