Evening. Quite a sunny day but still cold. We went out for a meal at lunchtime with the family for DH’s birthday, which was actually last Tuesday, so that was nice. Also, I don’t have to cook. Smile

Good that MrHelen had a good day yesterday, hope he’s alright today

Have lovely evenings all..

Evening wenches.

Good news re MrHelen but also hoping he’s not overdone it.

I love finding out where expressions or words have come from. I learned recently that eavesdropping is apparently from Tudor times from carved faces in the eaves of Hampton Court Palace. There was another one too which I’ve now completely forgotten. I feel that loses something in the telling.

A lovely family meal with no cooking as a bonus sound great Apricot.

I’ve mostly finished another knitting project but I need to attach a ribbon as a fastener and I can’t for the life of me figure out how it will work. Ah well, I’ll get there.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2025 21:41

Evening. Sunny but def. cold today - the frost never lifted where it was in the shade.

DH has mostly been ok. Needed a little sit down midday, and was tired again around tea time, but not too bad. He's being a cat-bed at the moment.

I did garden stuff and had a fantastic long chat with an ex-neighbour, and cooked. Must have done other stuff too, but I forget - it was hours ago! Confused Good luck with the ribbon LetUs - just sew it on and then tie the pieces in a bow?

Monday tomorrow - doom, etc. Sad But first I must have a long hot bath'n'book.

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2025 07:19

Morning wenches.

I’ll figure it out eventually Helen. Eventually.

Good news re MrHelen. Hope your bath’n’book was relaxing.

Oh look, Monday. Can’t tell anything outside except dark.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2025 10:36

Monday. Cold. There was a nice sunrise (deep rose pink fading to peach), but then the sun went into the clouds. The frost has gone though, so it must be warmer than yesterday. Tiiiiiiiiiiired.Cooooooooold. <whiiiiinge>

<wraps all wenches in blankets and HBFs>

ApricotCrush · 03/02/2025 16:05

Afternoon. Yes, it’s definitely warmer, nice sunny day here.

Well, high drama at ChezApricot. A few hours after we got back from the restaurant yesterday, DH started to get severe stomach pain. Two hours later he was writhing on the floor in the cloakroom in agony. I messaged DD to see if anyone else was ill, she phoned DS and they were all fine.

I called 111 and they said go to A&E. He couldn’t even stand up and wouldn’t have been able to sit on a chair for 6 hours Hmm, so they called an ambulance, but said it could be some hours. DD came round and we sat with him. A couple of hours later he started to feel a bit better so we phoned 111 again and they said they would cancel the ambulance. DD went home and we went to bed. Half an hour later, the ambulance arrived! Shock. We apologised profusely. Moral of the story, if you want something doing, do it yourself.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

Evening

Blimey that does sound alarming apricot, how id he today?

And how is MrHelen?

Have had a fairly relaxed day so far. Pottered around with FancyMan mostly, although all the sun must be up with apricot as it's been grey all day here.

LetUsPrey · 03/02/2025 19:37

Evening wenches.

Oh Apricot that must have been quite scary. Hope MrApricot’s feeling a lot better. Also hurrah for your DD <squidge> for you

Had to scrape the ice off the windscreen this morning but warmed up quickly through the day.

Pottering about sounds lovely Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/02/2025 21:24

God that's scary Apricot - hope MrA is ok now, but it's a worry about what caused it.

DH is still up and down here.

The frost went quite fast today, despite the lack of sun. Though I ran the engine for 5 minutes to defrost it while I did the chickens. Today's annoyance is losing a USB stick. I had it in the house and copied files onto it, and then... God knows where it's gone. Massive FFS.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2025 07:15

... and then it's morning again. Rinse and repeat, except there isn't a heavy frost today.

LetUsPrey · 04/02/2025 07:18

Morning wenches.

Not a great night’s sleep, stressy dreams etc.

Have the chickens taken it Helen? Is it in a pocket you swear you’ve checked <side eyes at DH>? Disappeared into a wormhole?

<rolls up sleeves to tackle Tuesday>

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2025 15:42

Hurrah! It was not in a pocket that I and DH had checked LetUs (equal amount of side-eyes at the manshapes though>, but it was in a pocket of the bodywarmer that I was wearing, but took off to go out (and then forgot I was wearing when I was looking for the stick)! Fortunately it's still cold so I put it on again at lunchtime, and bingo! Otherwise it could have been up there with the mobile phone that I forgot even existed, and later found in the pocket of a work suit that hadn't been worn for 15 years Shock

<gets back to work>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/02/2025 16:51

That sounds awful Apes, hope MrApes is feeling ok today.

Hope MrHelen also is doing ok.

I know all about stressy dreams Letus, hope you get a better night's sleep tonight ❤

Hope all is well with Chonk and Floof Fancy.

ApricotCrush · 04/02/2025 16:58

Afternoon. Miserable day, rain this afternoon.

DH is fine now thanks all, although he didn't play golf yesterday. It must have been something in the meal we had out. They asked for feedback and I did tell them, nicely, so that if anyone else reported a problem they could look into it. It's a lovely place and we go there regularly and have never had any trouble before.

Good that you found the USB stick Helen but Grin at the phone found 15 years later.

Also sympathy with the stressy dreams, they're horrible.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 04/02/2025 18:30

Where was the pain located in the stomach? I've had epigastralgia with pain mostly on the top part of the stomach, I was on the floor in pain, it was awful. A long time ago since I last had it thankfully.

LetUsPrey · 04/02/2025 19:18

Evening wenches.

Not heard of that Wicked and I hope never to experience it, or that anyone else I like has it. Hope MrApricot feels well enough for golf soon which will mean he’s properly recovered!

Quick Helen - check all other pockets, especially stuff that’s not been worn for a while.

It’s been a particularly busy day at work so perhaps I’ll be so tired tonight I’ll sleep with stressy dreams etc. Yeah right.

ApricotCrush · 04/02/2025 19:58

Oh, that sounds awful WW. <googles> No, it was lower down and in his back, but everything seems to be back to normal now so hopefully it won’t come back.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/02/2025 20:58

Oooh, that sounds nasty Wicked. Glad that MrA has been ok today Apricot, and fingers crossed for a speedy return to the golf course - for your sanity if nothing else Grin. DH has had a fairly good day too.

Stressy dreams can FTFO. My latest ones include having to use super-narrow staircases with no bannisters, which I end up bum-shuffling along Confused.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/02/2025 07:10

Morning all. Clear start with a vaguely orange sky which is just back to grey now - might change when the sun actually comes up. There's a couple of pretty pink vapour trails though.

BoringOfficeJob today - spreadsheets ahoy!

LetUsPrey · 05/02/2025 07:15

Morning wenches.

No stressy dreams! Very weird ones but not stressy. The staircase one sounds awful Helen.

Here’s to the continuing recovery and no relapses of ailing husbands.

Still dark here. Short day with lots to do when I get home.

Have good days wenches.

FancyFancy · 05/02/2025 12:56

Afternoon
Had to go into the office earlier today. Which reminded me of why I don't normally go in at that time, whichever way I turn out of my road I hit school traffic <sighs>

Lovely & sunny here <gazes out of window>

Chonk & Floof are fine thanks - in need of losing weight Grin They had their check ups & vaccs & were very well behaved at the vets, always a relief after some of ScaredyCat's vists!

ApricotCrush · 05/02/2025 17:04

Afternoon. Nice day, I've been out to do jobs locally and it's quite pleasant.

DH went to golf but it wasn't peaceful round here. Our footpaths are being dug up to lay pipes to take cables from a transformer box at the end of the road to a new development of 200 houses a mile away. Shock The disruption's going to be shocking when they get onto the main road. In addition, next door were having a flat roof resurfaced, so our house which is on a corner, was surrounded by vans, lorries and various pieces of equipment making a horrible noise. Poor Misty hasn't been able to get her 18 hours sleep in. Hmm

Hope everyone's had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 05/02/2025 18:32

Evening wenches.

What’s the feline equivalent for the court of human rights? Misty should definitely look into that, poor love. Bet she was all perturbed and everything.

Needing to lose weight shows just how well Chonk and Floof have settled in clearly!

DS1 and his girlfriend have just got a couple of kittens. I’m going visiting this weekend ❤️

Lots of visits at work from people these last few days along the lines of either “I can’t be bothered to think for myself and figure it out, so just tell me what to do” or “just going to drop in for a chat even though you’re clearly both busy”. Complicated task today for senior partner (not much older than me) which involved copying a block of text from one document and pasting it into a blank document and then saving it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/02/2025 20:44

FFS at being asked to copy and paste LetUs - how do you hold back from screaming and hurling office equipment at them/ramming their faces into the keyboard? My work was workish and busy, but not massively irritating.

Shocking levels of sleep deprivation for Misty. Is there a 'CatLine' she can phone to complain and get support? (She should be more like WobblyCat - deaf and able to sleep though anything!)

Awww at kittens and sedate vet visits!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 05/02/2025 20:53

Fräsan sends thoughts and prayers to Misty in this difficult time Grin
