Evening wenches.

That’s so annoying re the unnecessary day off for DD Apricot.

<raspberry> at extra traffic lights Helen. That does hopefully sound like progress for MrH.

Work happened. Been carrying on with the knitting and now just waiting for Silent Witness to start.

LetUsPrey · 29/01/2025 07:21

Morning wenches.

Wednesday is it? Short day at least.

Looking forward to the lighter mornings because getting up in the dark is just boring now. Suppose I’d better get a move on.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/01/2025 07:39

Morning all. Yes, Wednesday. <flails> Better get dressed and out the door...

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 29/01/2025 16:34

Afternoon. Quite a nice day. I went to do some jobs locally this morning and <whispers> I think I may have detected a bit of spring in the air. It's still cold though.

We've got Silent Witness recorded but we're still ploughing through Shetland.

Glad MrHelen seems to be on the mend.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Evening wenches.

Today was distinctly below average but it picked up after getting home.

<whispers back to Apricot> it did feel a bit warmer didn’t it? And it was sunny too this afternoon which definitely helped.

I’m watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. Bizarrely on the information thing it says it was made in 1981 which I simply refuse to believe is right.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 29/01/2025 20:09

Been out for indian food tonight and then to a café for a cappuccino. Otherwise I just work, eat, watch TV and sleep.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/01/2025 21:10

Evening. Tired. Meh.

Spent half my day sorting out a financial SNAFU of my own making. Then a couple of hours sorting out an FOI request, only to send the reply to be told 'actually, we don't need most of this'. <le enormous sigh>

DH is 'meh' as well. Spent most of the day feeling like he has a hangover, without the prior enjoyment of a drink!

I did go out for a walk at lunchtime though, and bumped into a cousin, so we had a quick natter, which was lovely. The weather felt warmer as well - probably because the sun was actually out as much as anything!

FancyFancy · 29/01/2025 22:08

Evening. Seems to have been a hectic week so far.

DD's appointment was uneventful - for her. Couldn't park at the hospital as a new clinic has been opened - yay! On part of the car park. So more staff, more patients, but less parking. Lots of cars just milling around trying to find a space. I dropped her & buggered off until she needed collecting. The increased emissions from all the cars circling around make me seethe.

Chonk & Floof are fine - Chonk has lost a bit of weight but needs to lose more. Floof has actually put on 30g Shock

Was out at the theatre with FancyMan last night, was very entertaining and had the bonus of a drive past of lots of the works for InfamousLargeInfrastructureProject en route. Otherwise it's just work, peppered with calls about parents. I will get the bedrooms back in order sometime.......

LetUsPrey · 30/01/2025 07:23

Morning wenches.

Your usual routine sounds just fine and dandy Wicked.

Sounds similar to hospital where I’ve had to take DS2 a few times. Look, we’re building lots of new things! We’ve closed off loads of parking to do it! Good news re Chonk and Floof.

That sunshine’s definitely making a difference l

Finished knitting the hat. I’m so disappointed with it. It’s too big and doesn’t look right so I’m sulking about it. Had a shit night’s sleep too so I’m well set up for the day.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/01/2025 08:48

Morning all. It's chilly here, but sunny and that just makes it all so much better. Apart from the hat - how frustrating. Can you unravel and knit a smaller pattern LetUs?

I don't think hospitals ever have enough parking. Ours had one of the access roads shut for several weeks as well, so that was fun - though I do know lots of back routes now, which is always handy. Gas and Electricity are digging up different parts of DS' college bus stop location and causing utter carnage. At least electricity is due to finish today, then there's just the one road closed Hmm

Can you throw in some walks and sudoku/reading Wicked? Then it all sounds very civilised. (I suppose the days are a bit short for fitting in walks around work.)

I'm sure there was something I was going to say to make everyone laugh, btu I can't remember now. Oh well

ApricotCrush · 30/01/2025 16:56

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day. It was streaming through the window this morning and was quite hot.

My days are all the same WW. I must get some exercise; although I’m over the shingles, it’s left me feeling low.

Hospital parking is awful. DD has terrible trouble where she works in spite of the staff having designated car parks for which they pay for the privilege. It often takes her fifteen minutes to find a space and if she’s late getting there for any reason she can’t park on site and has to go to a pub down the road.

Shame about the hat LetUs, but good that Chonk and Floof are fine.

Hope MrH has got rid of his ‘hangover’.

LetUsPrey · 30/01/2025 19:38

Evening wenches.

Re the hat, I think I can run shirring elastic through the base of the hat to sort of pull it in a bit. I’m confident it’s not anything I’ve done as I did the cardigan from the same pattern booklet and that’s turned out to the measurements given on the pattern. Same needles, same yarn for the hat but it’s come out bigger so I’m blaming the pattern.

That’s ridiculous re parking for your DD Apricot. Hopefully the lighter days will bring more cheery weather for you to go out for walks. Mind you, I always intend to do that at weekends but haven’t ever quite managed it.

I realise all these roadworks and gas and electricity works are necessary but aaaarrrggghhhhh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/01/2025 20:50

Evening all. I've spent the day doing the work thing, in-between taxi-ing. DH is slightly improved.

That's shit about DD's parking Apricot and also <cwtch> re. the post-shingles meh. Hopefully you'll shake that off as the days get lighter.

Stupid pattern LetUs Grin There is a dress I really liked which sold out, and I've found it available in the sale - size 18. So I've bought it with the idea of unpicking the seams and re-making it in my size. I suspect I may be over-estimating my skills, assuming I ever get round to doing it, and it doesn't just sit as yet another unfinished project Confused

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/01/2025 07:10

Morning wenches. Urghhhhhhhhhh. DH woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep (until he did, and then so did I eventually). So I got to share the experience, which I really could have done without. <crawls to bar and grads a handful of matchsticks>

LetUsPrey · 31/01/2025 07:19

Morning wenches.

I have no doubt you have the sewing skills required Helen, it’s the time you don’t have. That’s rubbish about the disturbed sleep.

Urgh stop being so dark still in a morning. At least it’s Friday.

Have good days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 31/01/2025 17:02

Afternoon. Miserable day here, drizzly and cold. I’ve been catching up on some jobs that have been lying around for ages.

Good ideas with the hat and the dress, wenches’ skills know no bounds. Smile

Have a good evening all. Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/01/2025 18:59

Evening all. I have had my nose pressed firmly to the grindstone today, but it's been productive so that's good. The small amount of attention I've paid to 'outside' makes me think the weather has been similar to yours Apricot. Though I'm not sure if we've had drizzle.

My tent dress has arrived. DH is very Hmm at whether I can alter it myself. tbh, so am I! Also, yes re. the lack of time LetUs!

LetUsPrey · 31/01/2025 20:46

Evening wenches.

Work was quieter than usual for most of the day until about 3.15 when loads of stuff came through. I’m sure that happened last Friday too.

Think it stayed dry here. Seeing as you tackled jobs that have been around for a while Apricot, I reckon you should be feeling justifiably smug 😊

<passes tape measure, scissors and pins to Helen>

LetUsPrey · 01/02/2025 07:58

Morning wenches.

Meeting BestFriend this morning. Think I’ll see if we can arrange an evening out together. Plan for rest of the day is housework, washing, etc. Obviously knitting.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/02/2025 09:14

Morning all. Currently at SportingActivity but will be abandoning DS later to have a 'historic building tour'. Weather is uninspiring, but as long as it stay dry all will be fine.

I def. think you need to arrange and evening out LetUs

FancyFancy · 01/02/2025 12:27

Afternoon

I have faith in your sewing abilities helen

Hope you've had a lovely morning letus

<looks around> hmmm, jobs that have been hanging around........I need to follow your example apricot

January seems to be a month for that ww, very monotonous. Still now it's February - yay! 83 more minutes of daylight since the shortest day and over 3 more minutes every day this month <peers outside> still pretty gloomy out there. I am catching up with some work from earlier in the week and then need to collect some purchases from town and off out for dinner later with an ex-neighbour.

ApricotCrush · 01/02/2025 17:06

Afternoon. Damp and dreary today but I haven't been out. I've just been trying to help DGS and DD with his maths homework via WhatsApp; hell's bells it's complicated, but I think we got there in the end.

Yay for BestFriend meet up and 'historic building tour'..

That's interesting about the daylight Fancy, we're getting there. Have a lovely meal out.

Evening wenches.

Lovely meet up with BestFriend but forgot to ask about an evening out. I shall message her. Have been knitting. Also helping DH with some DIY. He was getting cross with something he needed to use and I offered to see if there was a YouTube video. No, it’s fine, he insisted, getting crosser. I looked it up. He had part of it upside down. All sorted now hopefully though.

Historic building tour sounds just lovely Helen.

Oooo at the getting lighter information Fancy! Hope you have a delicious dinner and good evening.

Dread to think what maths is like at school now. DS2’s was enough of a nightmare at times.

I’m drinking Pimms and watching Miss Marple.

LetUsPrey · 02/02/2025 08:27

Morning wenches.

Usual Sunday beckons. Here’s to a day of no stress and over-excitement.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2025 09:08

Morning all.

Watched a film last night with DS and DH then crawled into bed. Nice sunny start to the morning, but cold - there was a picturesque ground frost last night and it's cold, though the sun is melting it now.

Yesterday's tour was quite interesting - the building wasn't as impressive as I'd been led to believe, but there were some interesting facts and now I (allegedly) know where the expression 'skinflit' comes from - someone who saved money by leaving the white 'skin' on flint when they were building with it.)
Today is usual Sunday - DS' girfriend coming round, probably some gardening, shopping and cooking, and, judging by the noise, we have mice galloping about in the roof, so I'll be up there with traps. Hey ho. Also wood-splitting. I might just go back to bed for now though.

DH also had a really good day yesterday, so I'm slightly concerned he'll have overdone things and knocked himself back a bit, but we'll see...
