Evening all. DH has been out this evening, so DS and I binged the last two episodes of Wolf Hall, and then hit the internet playing "What happened to...?" Now we're watching Grizzy and the Lemmings Grin. Followed by mopping up DS' spilt drink Hmm I am looking forward to a lie-in tomorrow.

Glad that the exam went well, and that MrA's car was retrieved without Apricot needing to to out. [brrr] at Wicked's storm.

FancyFancy · 10/01/2025 22:54

Evening

Well work has been work-ish, glad it's the weekend.

Fingers crossed WobblyCat continues to be happy with the litter tray and yay for having the cars in working order apricot.

Am jealous that it's only -1 with you ww, was -6 here last night. Was already -1 when I left work tonight & was -3 by the time I got home. Which is quite impressive as its only about a 15 minute drive! Still, was just relieved to get home to a warm house - there was a power cut last night, so I had the joy of being woken at 5.15am by a beeping alarm and then the added joy of getting up in the cold at getting up time. Decorating is going well, but all the bedrooms are in a state of upheaval, still will look lovely when done so I just need to suck it up for a bit longer.

Hidders is on Graham Norton, am watching so far but am finding the campness of the other male guest a bit irritating, I may not last much longer......

LetUsPrey · 11/01/2025 08:07

Morning wenches.

Hope you managed to power through the show Fancy.

Ah Wolf Hall, I’d forgotten about that. It’ll be in the stack of stuff to watch somewhere.

Flipping cold again. Not planning on going out this morning so will just be house stuff. Out for a meal tonight.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/01/2025 16:16

Evening. I meant to post this morning, but then my laptop was busy rolling back an update for some reason, and I forgot. Have had a busy day of roofer coming to see the leaky window (not convinced about his explanation, I'll be getting a second opinion) and pruning back the rambling rose in the hedge (so it's in the hedge now and not the road) and just general stuff. Hoovering as well.

We saw Hidders on TV as well - I was reading so not paying 100% attention, but it seems entertaining enough. (I may not have been paying enough attention to be irritated by bloke cosplaying Wicked <nto>)

Off out this evening = brrr! Hope everyone's had a good day and not got too cold.

ApricotCrush · 11/01/2025 16:51

Evening. The fog has returned but not as bad as before. It was -4 this morning; I had to go out to post a letter and was glad to get back.

Eeek at power cut Fancy. We seem to be getting more of those lately, though the ones we've had haven't lasted long.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Am back, have done daft sporty things. I think I need a long hot bath now.

Evening wenches.

Been out. There was food. There was drink. There was chat.

<faceplants on bar>

LetUsPrey · 12/01/2025 08:18

Morning wenches.

Can already tell it’s nowhere near as cold as it has been. Looking forward to the ice starting to clear, probably tomorrow when we have a balmy 6°.

Usual Sunday today. Could do with it being a bit longer though 😁

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/01/2025 09:58

Morning, things thawed yesterday, a bit, where the sun hit it, which means that how everything is sheet ice because it's frozen again. <le sigh/eek> I know it's due to thaw again, so hopefully all will be well.

I'm still a bit achey, so have no plans to do anything, other than get dressed before DS' girlfriend arrives for their regular Sunday snog'n'x-box session Grin (I know the latter part, I'm assuming the former because I always make plenty of noise in the vicinity so that I don't walk in on anything embarrassing).

I like the idea of longer Sundays - or possibly just more of them. 'A month of sundays' as a measurement must exist for a reason - perhaps we could request an additional month's worth LetUs? To be spent in a spa where our every need is catered for and we don't need to do any housework. Speaking of which, I have washing in the machine after I (get ready to laugh at me) picked up an egg from the chickens and put it in my coat pocket. And forgot about it. Blush

FancyFancy · 12/01/2025 14:58

Afternoon.

Very slightly warmer out there - some of the snow has melted and the forecast is to be just above freezing tonight ahead of a balmy day (4 degrees) tomorrow. Have a busy day of shifting furniture today as the decorator will be starting on my room early next week. One room is already done, another is nearly finished & am very pleased so far. Chonk & Floof are tolerating the upheaval better than expected so far, although frankly Floof probably doesn't have the capacity to worry about it as he must be spending all available energy shedding fur <side-eyes fluffy house>

ApricotCrush · 12/01/2025 16:37

Afternoon. I bit less cold here too, most of the frost has gone.

Usual Sunday, DS visited this morning with his DC, I cleaned the fridge and have knitted.

Yes Fancy, Misty is shedding fur too. Why do they do that at the coldest time of the year? Confused

Grin at Helen and the egg.

Evening wenches.

Oh dear Helen 😁. Not laughing at you, honest. I do like the suggestion of a month of Sundays. Very much.

The decorating seems to be going at a good pace Fancy. I bet it’ll all look wonderful and make up more than enough for the upheaval. Awww at Chonk and Floof coping well.

Have also been knitting. Clothes for the dolls are all done but I’ve several projects something else planned.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/01/2025 18:20

Awww, Floof is just trying to keep you warm by sharing his fur with you Fancy Grin And also helping with decorating - it will be embedded in the newly painted walls, for that 1970s hairy hessian wallpaper look! Good luck with the continued furniture shifting.

It's been sunny here today, so I pointlessly hung out the washing. There was sod all in the way of wind - just a wafty breeze so it all came in again, ever-so-slightly less damp than it went out - though free of egg now anyway! I have spent the day in the garden clearing up prunings, cutting down all the dead tomato plants from the greenhouse and ripping out brambles from the woodpile. Also found a disconnected downpipe which is a pain in the arse. Ho hum...

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/01/2025 07:31

Morning all. Sunrise is in progress - a dark red/orange strip on the horizon underneath dark purple clouds, fading to gold and grey. Also - no frost - hurrah!! (Though it doesn't look remotely inviting out there).
DH has been illing all night - layered up with fleeces in bed and still feeling cold. Doom :(
<props eyelids open with matchsticks>

LetUsPrey · 13/01/2025 07:43

Morning wenches.

Am also convinced there will be a couple of cat hairs as extra decoration.

Still dark here but most of the ice has gone so hurrah!

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 13/01/2025 17:13

Afternoon. No frost but I went out this morning and it actually felt colder than last week. My fingers went dead in Lidl. DH confirmed that it was colder on the golf course. Must be the wind chill or something.

Nothing going on here. Hope MrHelen gets better soon.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/01/2025 19:41

Evening. I don't think we've had much in the way of wind here, so I'd say the weather's not too bad. Though I've really not been out other than a quick couple of trips out to the chickens, and then a quick library trip.

Spent most of today trying to cost up a series of new freelance projects. Many spreadsheets were created and emails drafted and re-drafted. Have also had a headache most of the day, so planning for an early night tonight.

Hope everyone's had a good day.

<finds selection of nice warm coats (and their occupants) for chilly wenches.>

Evening wenches.

Oh look, people who clearly listened when their mum said “put your big coat on” <side eyes at DS2>

Traffic was horrendous, particularly on the way in which made me late.

Tired now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/01/2025 07:29

Morning all. <tiptoes out of hayloft so as not to wake LetUs> I got an early night last night and was pretty much asleep when DH came crashing in with a fit of the shivers (having been fine all evening) Sad. So another night of interrupted sleep.<tops up basket of matchsticks on the bar>

There's the smallest sliver of colour in the sky - otherwise it's just steel-grey clouds this morning. No frost though - yay! Today will be rinse and repeat of yesterday I think, with added supermarket shopping.

LetUsPrey · 14/01/2025 07:32

Morning wenches.

Still dark here which is unacceptable. More rubbish traffic again today no doubt. Some genius thought it would be a super idea to have three separate lots of roadworks on the same stretch of road, which also includes a large junction with usual traffic lights, so people are coming through a temporary green at one end but then get to the junction which is on red which stops the traffic going the other way when their temporary lights change IYSWIM. Anyway, it’s fecking awful and what do they think will happen if I run out of things to listen to? Dreadful.

Hope MrHelen starts to feel better because your uninterrupted sleep is going to make you ill Helen <not science>

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 14/01/2025 16:58

Afternoon. No frost and perhaps a little warmer. DH has my car up on the jack again. He's been inspired by his success in sorting out the rust on the sills and is now touching up the odd scratch and and bump nothing to do with me, oh no.

I've been eBaying before the dreaded changes come in on 4th February.

What the hell are they playing at LetUs, don't they realise they're causing chaos? No they probably don't. Angry

Poor MrHelen, hope it doesn't last long.

LetUsPrey · 14/01/2025 19:48

Evening wenches.

MrApricot is a proper busy bee! Funny how dents and scratches mysteriously appear 😁

I’ve no idea what was going through their minds when this was all put in place. Throw in the main road in and out of town being closed again in one direction for another few months and the diversion going along this road but just on a different stretch and it’s a proper sodding nightmare.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/01/2025 20:37

< cwtch> LetUs Traffic hell is shite Sad Have you been letting people dent your car to make MrA happy Apricot? Grin Hope that Fancy has been getting on ok with the decorating disruption today.

Today has been worky, and cold/dank. I didn't manage to do the supermarket shopping, so that has to be done tomorrow. MrH now has a temperature, so I'm hoping that his body is now actually fighting off whatever he's got. (Not Covid, and he's had a flu jab, so that seems less likely. Though who knows.)

I wonder what research ebay have done to make them think that removing selling fees and putting them on buyers will make it a better site. Confused

LetUsPrey · 15/01/2025 07:38

Morning wenches.

Poor MrHelen, that does sound fairly awful whatever it is that he’s got. Here’s to a swift recovery and it not being passed on.

Day off today as DS2 has an appointment this afternoon which I deliberately arranged because it’s my early finish at work. However, the traffic shenanigans have rather thrown a spanner into the works and I can do without the stress of having to leave even earlier and still worry about being late. So day off it is which I shall spend - after taking DS2 to college because I’m a nice person - tidying up and then knitting and watching tv. No doubt there are more useful things I could do but nope.

Have lovely days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 15/01/2025 16:32

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day. It’s amazing how much I get done when I’m not cold and miserable.

Lol at letting people dent my car. Hope MrH soon feels better.

Apparently eBay tried this in America but had to change back. Why they think it will be better here I don’t know. There’s also talk of having to buy shipping through eBay but I prefer buying from the post office as you can be caught out with weight and size. Oh well, I’ll just have to see how it goes.

Hope LetUs enjoyed her day off and the appointment went well.
