Afternoon
Some chores done, a final small bit of work to do and then I have to tackle the wrapping mountain and do baking. Chonk has been turning his nose up at wet food for the last couple of days, otherwise seems alright in himself so hoping he's doing that cat thing of changing their minds on what food they actually like.

Is it rubbing it in to say that our IT people are very lovely people to deal with letus? they can even explain things in non-IT speak so I stand a chance of understanding what the fuck is going on.

Afternoon. Usual weather, dark and dismal. Had a shocking night. First I dreamt my wallet had been stolen and DH had to wake me up because I was making a noise about it. Then I went back to sleep and dreamt Misty had gone missing (although she was a rabbit ) and we were searching the streets for her.

I’ve wrapped what presents I have and done my nails. They’ll probably need a touch up next week. We’re going out tonight for a meal with friends.

Hope Chonk is just being picky and there isn’t anything wrong.

Shopping was okay and I think everything is bought. And then I’ve been wrapping late morning and all afternoon. Just have DH’s and DS2’s to do but I ran out of steam.

Going to have a bath after dinner.

Some wrapping has been done, though DS is in the room with me now, so those parcels have been hastily hidden

I think what I might do is take my knitting upstairs to where I’m wrapping presents and then every time DH knocks and says can I come in, I can pretend I’m wrapping his stuff and say no. Wonder how long I can keep that going for?

I have to brave the shops because we're low on milk. This will have to count as the pre-Christmas top-up shop because, barring emergencies, I have no intention of going into the supermarket again. (Though DH did talk about doing a late afternoon Christmas-eve shop and seeing what bargains were to be had.)

In good news, the Christmas cake is in the oven. Oh, which means I may be stuck here until it's baked. Oh well.

Braved the supermarket, well for petrol, and it was ok so fingers crossed for any wenches also going near shops. Baking was done yesterday & about half of the wrapping, will finish the rest this afternoon. Then it's some cleaning - mostly hoovering as Floof's winter coat seems to be surplus to requirements - ironing & packing. DC are arriving tonight, so hoping for a drama free morning tomorrow. Two presents are due to arrive for different people tomorrow, what are the chances of them arriving before we go?

Chonk says thank you for the well wishes, his appetite appears to have recovered today - possibly it was one flavour he objected to.

Evening. Raining and very windy here. I've been generally doing odd jobs and sorting the year's photos for the CDs for the DCs. I try to do it as I go along but there's always a lot to do at the end.

Evening all. No shopping was done because I discovered that we had more milk that I thought. I was going to plant bulbs in the garden, but ended up only getting as far as digging up loads of ground elder to be incinerated. (It was a bit breezy, but no rain until after dark). The Christmas cake is baked now though, so that's good.

Glad to hear thank Chonk's appetite is back. Fingers crossed for the presents arriving before you go Fancy, and safe travels.

Phew at not having to go out anywhere near shops Helen. I have to go in Sainsburys tomorrow as my dental clinic is in there, hopefully it’ll have calmed down a bit by the evening.

Very much enjoyed episode 1 of IBH. DH fell asleep for a bit and then was a bit confused as he’d missed a crucial conversation. I kept nudging him and saying “DON’T FALL ASLEEP YOU’LL MISS SOMETHING ELSE”. Such a good wife.

Anyway, Monday again. At least the school’s have finished so the roads in will be quieter.

Morning all. I crashed out early last night with a headache - woe is me, etc. The wind arrived here last night along with the rain, it's fine now though, just a bit breezy.

Evening. Dark, wet and cold, although I did put the duvet cover on the line this morning and I think it dried a bit.

DS has been round to borrow our hostess trolley for Boxing Day, he’s taking this all very seriously.

Hope Fancy’s presents arrived in time and that they had a safe journey. Also hope Helen’s headache went and LetUs’s dental appointment went well.

We’ve finished IBH, ep 2 had to be rewatched because of sleep, DH not me.

I'm off work until 2/1 2025 (part from a half day of work on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve). Plan to at least try to be a bit productive during that time Will visit mum on Christmas Day for lunch and a bit of shopping. I'm trying to get in the holiday spirit by watching some classic Christmas movies like Alien and Jaws

Remember there being lot of characters in Ink Black Heart, not sure when the TV show will air here.

I should have rearranged my hygienist appointment. The retail park car park was absolutely rammed. Never been as pleased to wait for ages in a dental surgery before. Had calmed down a little by the time I left but still had to queue to get off the car park. Bit tired now.

Journey was smooth, stopped at a friend's near our destination for a brief catch up. Gave the DC a potted tour of the village where I grew up and went to the cemetery to leave some flowers for DM. Neither package arrived before we left unfortunately, but otherwise the day went well so I'm not complaining. Now in bed, feeling full and we haven't even started Christmas eating proper yet 😁
Chonk still seems fine, but I think it's the fish flavoured food he objects too as he wasn't keen on breakfast this morning but tucked into some dry food just before we left.

Awful night featuring me being downstairs from probably before 4am as I couldn’t sleep. Watched some tv and crocheted for a bit and went back to bed about 5. Did eventually get some sleep. However, I look like I’ve woken up next to the bins behind a shop in a retail park so thank goodness we finish at 1 today.

Evening. Quite a nice day. Also flailing even though I’m not cooking tomorrow. DS arrived in a panic because he’d washed a tablecloth he’d bought from Ikea and couldn’t get the creases out. I had to give it a rinse and spin and iron it straight out of the washer. They don’t make things easy these days.

Sympathies LetUs, it’s horrible when you can’t sleep.

Work was quiet and we were allowed to go a bit early. Have done a few bits at home, watched a film with DH and DS2, then had a bath. Rather tired now but everything I need to do for tomorrow is done.

Going to watch second episode of Strike tonight.

Evening. Still flailing here. Need to unearth the sofa from beneath piles of rubbish, and also the dining table. I could just throw a table cloth over the lot to hide it - wouldn't matter if the tablecloth was creased since it would all be lumpy anyway. DH is fading, so looks like I'm about to make stuffing for the turkey tomorrow.
