Brrr - it's a nippy -2 out here. DS has finally deigned to wear another layer (albeit a thin waterproof coat) and fingerless gloves Hmm Better than nothing, I guess. The bolt on the chicken coop was frozen solid, so they haven't been mucked out yet and their food is all outside.

Have a good day all...

ApricotCrush · 21/11/2024 15:27

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day but I don’t think it’s got above freezing as the snow has hardly moved.

I think I’ve slept in a funny position as my back/shoulder hurts and I can’t turn my head much. <moan>

Thanks LetUs, I’ll look into the Eleanor series. I love historical stuff which is strange as I failed my history O-level. Blush I don’t think the syllabus was very good in those days as it never seemed to be about real people, just dates and laws and battles and how they used the land. Or perhaps I just switched off. Hmm

Hope the chickens got sorted.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/11/2024 20:04

Evening, I think the temperature got up to about 4, but there wasn't much thawing going on here either, apart from the roads, which will now be freezing to sheet ice again Confused

I did get the chicken house open though, and haven't bolted it tonight,

LetUsPrey · 21/11/2024 20:45

Evening wenches.

What is it with these children not putting on an appropriate coat? I keep putting DS2’s winter coat over his lighter one on the hook. He just moves it and puts the lighter coat on. Sits in the car (he walks home) rubbing his hands because they’re cold - won’t wear gloves.

There’s a couple of history podcasts on there that I like Apricot - Short History Of… and The Curious History of Your Home.

We had a bit more snow so the smooth paving on the street at work were bloody lethal at home time. Then we’ve had sleet which will probably freeze. Grump grump grump.

<directs Apricot to physio area>

LetUsPrey · 22/11/2024 07:42

Morning wenches.

Running a bit behind this morning as I got up a bit later than I should. There’s a beautiful red tinged sunrise which I’m sure isn’t bad news at all according to that rhyme. Nope, all fine.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 22/11/2024 17:12

Afternoon. Freezing again this morning which made the trip to Lidl a bit challenging, looking out for black ice, potholes and speed bumps with the sun in my eyes. Confused It’s warmed up since though and the snow has almost gone.

I’ll make a note of those podcasts LetUs. I like something to listen to when I’m knitting.

Have a good evening all. Wine

Evening all. Running late this morning, though not sure why. Though I did hit the stepper when I got back from dropping of DS, so that meant no early start to work! Not actually freezing here, but with the wind chill, you wouldn't know it.

Intelligent Cat is currently wandering about like a lost soul because she can't decide where she wants to sit (or who to sit on) and Killer Kitty has just yacked up some ring worms - delightful. They got mopped up and thrown on the fire. Must remember to buy more wormer...

Hope everyone has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 22/11/2024 19:03

Evening wenches.

<faceplants on bar>

That sounds a stressful journey Apricot.

Obviously KillerKitty’s way of saying “put wormer on the shopping list would you please”.

Crap day at work but it’s done now and once I’ve been out to collect DS2 from SportingActivity I can relax.

LetUsPrey · 23/11/2024 08:09

Morning wenches.

It’s still quite dark here. One forecast says don’t worry it’s not going to be very windy anymore, the other says don’t go out you’ll end up in the Land of Oz.

Really must properly start the Christmas prep for gifts and cards. Suggested to DH we don’t bother to get each other cards or gifts this year. You’d have thought I’d gone outside and taken a baseball bat to his car such was his expression.

Usual Saturday ahead.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/11/2024 11:44

Morning all. It's windy and rainy here, so I hope everyone else closer to 'Bert' is battened down safely (Aramis will help, as per...) We seem to have lost a broom bush in the garden which is at a very wonky angle. and now wobbles alarmingly. Oh no - I'll have to go and buy another one! Grin Or actually, maybe that little shrub I have sitting in a pot on the patio would like to move into the spot. When it's not blowing around so much.

Last night's bonkers dream (during a massive lie-in - hurrah!) included losing my credit card, but gaining someone else's in my purse, and finding bags of DS' baby clothes at a cupboard in SportingVenue and nearly tracking down Comtess... It was all very odd and I've woken up feeling very fuzzy-headed.

Hope everywench has a nice day staying in and warm!

ApricotCrush · 23/11/2024 17:09

Afternoon. Rain all day, but not very windy and the weather app says it’s 13 degrees, although I haven’t been outside.

I read that as broom brush Helen. Grin. Weird dream. I dreamt I was cutting some poor woman’s hair with blunt scissors and making a terrible job of it. Confused

Those Strike dates remind me of season 3 of TM, when they were all over the place. Strike is worthy of the Sunday night prime spot. It looks as if they’ve just shoved it in anywhere to get it over before Christmas. Angry

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/11/2024 17:48

I'm fairly sure it was the same last time - the first two episodes on consecutive nights, then the same for the next two, a week later.

Dark and windy and rainy now... the fire's lit and the cats are curled up snoozing

LetUsPrey · 23/11/2024 18:05

Evening wenches.

Raaaaaiiinnnnn, daaarrrrrkkkkk.

Mondays and Tuesdays seem a bit not exactly rubbish for the new Strike but you know what I mean. Apricot has it right that it’s worth a prime Sunday slot.

I dreamt the other night that Aljaz from Strictly proposed to me, down on one knee and everything and a lovely diamond ring. And to top it off DS2 was there with a tray of chips.

FancyFancy · 23/11/2024 19:04

Fabulous bonkers dream detail there letus 🤣

Am away with the DC visiting ex-PIL, having a lovely time, although the weather is a bit wild out there.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2024 08:44

Morning all. It's windy outside but not cold at all - I suspect I will be gardening today when I've been released from Cat Bed duties (and had breakfast/got dressed). The sunrise that I saw was silvery-gold between the clouds - it's all high cloud now though, with lower ones scudding along at speed. (The wind has pushed the broom over even more now.)

Love the random dream LetUs - especially the tray of chips - every proposal should have one Grin

I hadn't twigged the actual day-of-the-week that Strike was on. Yes - a bit odd. But then who has time watches stuff live these days anyway? <Side-eyes backlog of TV viewing on that's recorded on the sky box.>

Hope you're having a lovely time Fancy and haven't been blown away.

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2024 08:55

Morning wenches.

Rain. In fact quite a lot of it.

Hope you’re having a lovely time Fancy.

True about not watching stuff when it’s on Helen, but a Monday and Tuesday just seems rude 😁

Usual Sunday ahead.

Have great days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 24/11/2024 16:12

Afternoon. Rain alllllll day. Not good news for the golf club which will no doubt be closed tomorrow. Hmm It's not too cold though.

No, we never watch stuff when it's on either, although we may watch Wolf Hall tonight.

Hope Fancy has had a lovely time and everyone else has managed to avoid the weather.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2024 16:52

Evening. We have the wind, but the rain hasn't reached us. Being late November, we spent a lot of the afternoon splitting wood... and mowing the lawn Hmm in a T-shirt. Hmm Hmm Hmm The weather is mad. It was -2 during the week, and 18 today. Still, it was a productive afternoon, just not doing what I planned to do (cutting back the rose in the hedge),

DS had some of the horde round, so all is good in his world.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/11/2024 18:03

Hope all wenches are well.

Warmer here now and raining so all the snow will be gone soon and it will be daaark.

Yesterday I went to dinner and then The Nutcracker with people from a FB-group. I've met two of them before but still a bit anxious before. Never been to the ballet before but I was fun to watch. The men's tights are really tight aren't they? Confused

Today I vacuumed but part from that nothing at all. Just some jigsawing and watching telly.

Plate of chips sounds fabulous Letus Grin

Yuk at ring worms Helen Confused

Hope you have a great time Fancy Smile

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2024 18:09

Evening wenches.

Washed, ironing, visited, etc. Continued knitting the doll clothes.

The difference in the temperature from a few days ago is quite something isn’t it? I’m back sitting in the back room at home (where I like to be) but it’s been too cold to do that this week in the evenings.

Jigsawing and watching telly is NOT nothing Wicked. Look on it as self care.

Watched last week’s Wolf Hall. It’s very very good.

<sends giant sponge to golf club>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2024 20:40

Jigsawing and TV sounds like a wonderfully civilised and relaxed way to spend the weekend.

Utter LOL at the giant sponge for the Golf Club Grin

My legs ache and I don't feel I've done enough to warrant that level of tiredness. Plus my neck feels a bit stiff - really hope I'm not coming down with something else - that would be extremely annoying.

In other news, I have an annoying sudoko which I can't finish off, but Dh is also huffing at it now, so I feel less stupid.

LetUsPrey · 25/11/2024 07:38

Morning wenches.

Monday. Sigh. At least I can tackle the week feeling rested after a good night’s sleep. Ahahahahaha only kidding!

Hope it’s just aches and pains from all the gardening work Helen and you’re not coming down with something.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/11/2024 09:47

Morning all. Feeling ok this morning, so fingers crossed! Weather is meh, much like my thoughts on it being Monday. Actually, I have stronger thoughts about it being Monday (especially as it started with a steaming pile of cat vom Envy ), but hey ho.

<pours caffeine into LetUs>
<knuckles down to work>

FancyFancy · 25/11/2024 12:54

Afternoon. Had to stay for another night as the trains were completely screwed yesterday. Lots are still screwed today but we are taking a different route back and are on the move. Should get home mid-afternoon, am hoping Chonk and Floof aren't sniffy with me!

Glad you are ok today Helen.

No apologies needed for lazy winter days ww, sometimes they are just what is needed.
