Morning wenches.

My “WTF time to cut out so,e snacks” moment was putting on something for Christmas Day that I’d worn six months earlier and it didn’t fit.

Usual Saturday with added Olympics today. Meeting BestFriend at craft barn for tea and no cake.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2024 10:04

That sounds like an absolutely lovely day LetUs - enjoy!

We have DIY things planned, and olympic watching, but DH has declared that 'This weekend we must XYZ'. We will see... At least the weather is still good for DIY-ing.

Hope everyone has a love day.

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2024 21:56

Evening wenches.

Tea and no cake became tea and cake because no willpower.

Lots of Olympic watching. Just been watching the artistic swimming which was incredibly impressive. Am baffled as to how they stay underwater for that long whilst being very active. Also enjoyed the taekwondo during which I could be heard shouting “go on Caden, kick him in the head!”

Put two loads of washing out and then it lashed it down for ages. Couldn’t even be bothered bringing it in.

Keeping an eye on the clock as I have to pick up DH soon

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2024 23:00

Evening. We've had hot stuffy weather with a smidgeon of drizzle. (I did lots of watering this morning.) Hope that Apricot had has better weather than you LetUs. <sends HBFs with umbrellas to Apricot>

DIYing got done, though not finished. My bit got done, obvs. <polishes Halo - nae> Also hauled the mower about because we finally remembered to fill up the fuel can.

Now it's late and I want to go to bed.

LetUsPrey · 11/08/2024 08:08

Morning wenches.

Sunshine! Washing is out and a more or less usual Sunday beckons.

Well done on finishing off your DIY <nae> Helen.

Hoping to get ironing done early then I can get some quiet time knitting.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/08/2024 09:23

Morning. I don't know if it's just because it's warm and sunny, but I'm a convert to the idea of getting up and doing exercise first thing (after feeding/watering everything) I've used the stepper first thing and now I feel like I've achieved something with my day already (there was also the slight matter of half an hour spent typing up tomatoes which had flopped over - that was quite productive too).

But still. Whoop! What else can I do...? (Or, to re-phrase that in a Tav-appropriate way - Who else can I do <eyes up HBFs...>) Grin

Have a good day all!
<sends out search party for Wicked and Fancy>

Morning wenches from sunny Wales. The weather is lovely today although we have had some rain. It’s really quiet here which is unusual for the summer holidays. No noisy children or barking dogs which is bliss. The internet for the site has been down since we got here so I’m on an enforced break from everything which is alarming but at the same time refreshing. I’ve just managed to get on through DH’s phone but it’s very patchy. They say it’s alright because someone from Birmingham is coming to fix it ON WEDNESDAY! 😡

DH is doing loads of DIY, he’s had the radiator off in the main bathroom, fixed the shower door in the en-suite which wasn’t shutting properly and he’s now putting up a new privacy screen round the decking because the other one has degraded. He never bloody stops.

We’ve been watching some Olympics. The sport climbing was amazing, the synchronised swimming beautiful and the taekwondo a bit weird. A gold medal for kicking someone in the head. Hmm. Also the breakdancing, how come that’s an Olympic sport. Our number of golds is disappointing, we usually do much better. Not taking anything away from those who won silver and bronze, of course, I know they all work really hard.

Anyway, I hope this posts and hope everyone’s having a good weekend.

ApricotCrush · 11/08/2024 09:41

Edited because it posted twice, aaarrrgggghhhh,

LetUsPrey · 11/08/2024 20:57

Evening wenches.

No noisy children or barking dogs sounds blissful indeed Apricot. You’re not breaking things a bit are you to keep MrApricot busy? Grin

I think we had a few unexpected golds, other events where gold might have been expected, but also silver and bronzes where people have got personal bests. Loved watching Emily Campbell in the weightlifting.

Went to LovelyMIL’s this afternoon where six adults in total took forever to build a garden swing, not helped by shitty instructions, people accidentally moving a required part which the rest of us then thought was missing, and it being very bloody hot.

Downside of the up early and busy Helen is, like me now, rather knackered by early evening.

Watching the closing ceremony. It’s a bit hmmm so far.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/08/2024 22:52

Yes, closing ceremony was very... 'interesting'? Avant garde? Baffling?

I've got the American anthem now for the handover. She's making the most of her vocal range. <warble, warble, etc> Grin

I have been very must today, though no swing building required. <snort> - Tom Cruise has just appeared at the top of the stadium. Well that was a good ending to the ceremony anyway.

Anyway - long, busy day, but productive. (Also <snort> at Apricot 'accidentally' breaking things to keep MrA busy Grin) Unfortunately it is Monday tomorrow. <le sigh>

LetUsPrey · 12/08/2024 07:30

Morning wenches.

I recorded the last hour or so and went to bed.

Woke up in the night - rain. Woke up this morning - rain. There is not supposed to be rain. Perhaps it’ll brighten up.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/08/2024 08:53

Morning all. Bright sunshine and windy here. Are there meant to be stupid hot temperatures today? <turns on air blades>

Work calls. Also breakfast and I need a quick DIY-trip out to get something we needed at the weekend, but don't have. Might nip out now and get that done before I log into work...

Have a good day all, finger crossed for Monday playing nice. Or more accurately, work colleagues and people in general being nice.

FancyFancy · 12/08/2024 12:10

Morning wenches. Very warm here, would gladly have some of your rain letus.

As usual I am feeling tired just reading about MrA's productiveness!

Thank you for the tomato-reminder Helen, must check mine.

Went out for dinner with the DC yesterday evening - free cocktail at DD's work and then on to a Korean restaurant. All very nice. Am therefore catching up on the closing ceremony. A bit underwhelmed so far - highlight for me so far is Matthew Pinsent's criticism of the IOC, but as that's not actually part of the ceremony, it probably shouldn't count 😂

LetUsPrey · 12/08/2024 20:16

Evening wenches.

<diverts rain to Fancy> although it’ll probably evaporate before it reaches you.

Monday behaved itself in parts, not so much in others. One colleague in particular was an absolute arse but nothing new there from them.

I liked the Matthew Pinsent bit too Fancy Grin. I recorded the last hour of the closing ceremony. There will be much to whizz through.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/08/2024 21:00

The ceremony is worth it for (or made more entertaining by) Andrew Cotter's commentary Grin

Do you have enough rain to spare for all of us LetUs?

Work was workish. Tomorrow I'm off to foreign parts (well, overnight to a different county), so hoping for decent travelling weather.

FancyFancy · 12/08/2024 22:27

Oh yes, Andrew Cotter has a definite Terry Wogan at Eurovision vibe that makes it bearable Grin Finished watching it and remained underwhelmed, although the stadium in LA is iconic & it was nice to see that.

Still warm and no rain in sight so have been out watering. Hoping that leaving all the doors & windows open this late will not result in me being being eaten by mozzies.

Have a fab trip helen

LetUsPrey · 13/08/2024 07:26

Morning wenches.

Just checked the forecast and we’ve heavy rain due from 4pm. Get your buckets for collection ready.

I’ve heard that Andrew Cotter was something of a star so I shall watch properly.

Safe travels Helen.

Suppose I’d better get on with the day.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/08/2024 09:19

Morning. It was cloudy and cooler, but the sun's burnt through now and it's heating up outside.
<dispatches HBFs with fans and umbrellas as required>

ApricotCrush · 13/08/2024 16:26

Afternoon. Lovely day yesterday but we have rain today.

We watched some of the closing ceremony, but switched off when some rapper came on. We don’t have the facility to record here.

Grin at me breaking things to provide DH with jobs to do, but he is perfectly capable of doing that himself. Yesterday he Karchered the outside of the caravan, then we found that we had no hot water. He said it could be that water had entered some pipework outside or it could be from him removing radiators to paint them. Hmm Anyway, after reading the instructions for the boiler he’s managed to sort whatever the problem was. He did explain, but by that time I’d switched off.

Hope you’ve all had a good day.

ApricotCrush · 13/08/2024 16:27

Dammit, it’s posted twice again, I’ll be glad when we get the proper internet back again 🙄

LetUsPrey · 13/08/2024 20:35

Evening wenches.

It started raining at 3.30 or thereabouts and hasn’t stopped since.

He did explain, but by that time I’d switched off - Apricot, you and I are as one Grin. Hope you get the internet fixed tomorrow.

Have been watching a bit more closing ceremony. IOC President chap “seine-sensational” - Andrew Cotter’s “urgh” was epic Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/08/2024 23:10

I am in foreign parts <ntl>
They have weird grey stuff up in the skies and water keeps falling down. Odd. I have brought a skirt, shorts and sandals. No coat. Hmm

He did explain, but by that time I’d switched off - New wench motto. Grin

LetUsPrey · 14/08/2024 07:19

Morning wenches.

<passes cost and/or umbrella to Helen>

Is allegedly dry and sunny today. Washing will be going outside soon. DS2 is very good at bringing it in if it rains.

Don’t particularly want to do the work thing but I suppose I shall have to.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2024 10:30

Morning. We have woken to blue skies and sunshine, so my (lack of) clothing choice is justified Grin

ApricotCrush · 14/08/2024 17:28

Afternoon. The internet is back, thank goodness. Glorious day here, we’ve been out on the decking sudokuing.

Apparently we had Northern Lights visible from up the road last night. I did look out after they said it was a possibility on the local weather forecast, but saw nothing. Sad Will look again tonight.

Hope the weather remained good for you Helen and work wasn’t too bad LetUs.
