I detest anything by MdF too. Full of not very interesting people having histrionic fits. Depressing watching to say the least.

PS. I once met Costantino, he was the stripper at my friend's addio nubilato in some crappy place at Lentate sul Seveso. He's certainly had a lucky break.

Hi from the UK! Just popping in to say hello. Brangelina, I lived in Puglia for a while, near Lecce-beaches round Otranto and Gallipoli are gorgeous, white sand and really clear sea.Alberobello and Ostuni lovely for visits as well. Dont know Gargano but meant to be lovely.
Can anyone help me-DS's Uncle wants us to help sell his house. It's a huge palazzo in north lazio-5 floors, would be great as a small hotel or something. We want to avoid agents if at all possible-anyone knows any sites/avenues I could explore to sell to the UK market. Would be a great project for someone with loads of money
Oh and whats the weather like now? I am back next weds and we are going to a friends in Viareggio for a few days-any idea what weather is meant to be like?
A presto!

Brangelina · 22/05/2008 21:49

Hi Gio! How is sunny Manchester? Are you a Man U fan?
I am impressed about you living in Puglia, I was supposed to marry my ex pugliese and go and live in a tiny village near Taranto, but I just couldn't see me doing it for all sorts of reasons.

I can't help re the house, except maybe if you want to market it to the UK you might need help from an agency if only to help eventual buyers sort out the legalities of buying from abroad. Either that or you cold try a classified in somewhere like the Times or the Sunday Telegraph, you know, the type of things Tuscany yearning Brits might read. I'm sure someone else will be along with a better idea soon.

Weather here is crap, very up and down, but you need Sputnik to give you the lowdown on Rome.

Am at all your globetrotting.

francagoestohollywood · 22/05/2008 21:52

Hello Gio!
He could advertise it directly on the Financial Times (on a saturday?) or on the Times (on a sunday?)

Evening all. Weather forecast has picked up for next week - let's hope it's right. I see from here it's been really bad. Tuesday in Florence is supposed to be hot and sunny. DH is now moaning about that... Honestly, there's no pleasing us!

Either way, can't wait to be in Italy tomorrow.

Brangelina · 22/05/2008 21:57

Oh good, we were getting bored of all the rain.

It will be hot, although it has been mentioned that over the next few days temperatures will be lower than the seasonal norm, so maybe not too hot. Men always grumble, pay no attention.

Have a good holiday Peagreene!

francagoestohollywood · 22/05/2008 22:00

Peagreene, have a lovely time . Where are you staying exactly?
The weather's been really weird, it rains a lot and as soon as it stops it gets boiling hot

Just south of Florence for the first week, then up in Lake Garda for the second. Mobile home both times. We visited two other parts of Tuscany last year so I know it's going to be lovely to be back there. Am very jealous of you all living there.

Sooooo excited and really need to go to bed (I need to be up at 4am) but just keep thinking about which essentials I might not have packed.

Rosa · 23/05/2008 08:31

TMMJ - it's warmish and sunny here - come to Monza.

Seriously though, the outlook is better for next week, so you might have a bit of rain the day you arrive but you should be OK after that, on the whole.

We're back in long sleeved tshirts here too Rosa. It's a really annoying temperature, yesterday I went out in a short sleeved top, a light mac and a hat. after 5 mins I was too hot in the mac and had to take it off, after 10 mins I was chilly in my short sleeves and had to put it on again, after which I was hot again.

francagoestohollywood · 23/05/2008 11:09

Peagreene, sorry I missed your reply, I was so tired, almost fell asleep by the pc (not sure you'd envy me in particular... we live in Milan... last summer we went for 2 weeks on holiday near Volterra, Tuscany is amazing, I'd love to live there).

Yes, the weather is freaky indeed. Cloudy but hot. Then chilly wind. Then hot. Then pours down. What the hell?

It's dd's 4th birthday today

Did you make mayonnaise???

OP posts:
Rosa · 23/05/2008 13:11

They are now in washing machine with fingers crossed.
Your dd shares birthday with nonno inglese..So its a fab day ! Where did you get marshmnallows from ??? DH loves them ! I can only find those pink and white twisty things which he says are no way near !

Brangelina · 23/05/2008 13:24

Rosa, I have loads of summer maternity trousers from HM and DP. I've got a white and a lback cotton pair and cut off jeans. If you like I can send them to you.

Brangelina · 23/05/2008 13:25

Franca, aren't you making the chocolate cake? Get ye to the kitchen!

Rosa · 23/05/2008 13:31

Thanks Brangelina but I should be ok as long as the sun comes out . This pair are long or short ( they roll up ) so are perfect for now. I have a pair of light cotton 3/4 and a pair of linen drawstring but they are all mega summery. Today is still spring .I was calculating that it would be sumer by now and I would need my spring trousers when I went to the UK !!! Um change that think the rain is coming back !!

Sputnik · 23/05/2008 13:47

Happy birthday to your DD Franca, what did you get her in the end?
My SIL and BIL are doing up a house near Volterra, it's a lovely area, and seems very quiet and unpopulated.

It's stopped raining here, but not exactly warm. I have to admit I quite like it that way, sort of warm but not too hot, the mezza-stagione usually seems to last about 5 minutes here and it's my favourite really.

Gio, can I be nosy and ask where your uncle's house is? I was in the Viterbese before the Sabina so know most of North Lazio (not that I'm in the market)

francagoestohollywood · 23/05/2008 14:07

Hello, chocolate cake is in the oven. I made a simple one, and I'm planning to make Nigel Slater's one tomorrow for celebration at pils.

I got her the wooden house on offer at the Giocheria + a dvd of Charlie and Lola dh brought from the uk. She was delighted.

Mezzastagione used to be lovely and sweet, or at least my memories of it. I remember with fondness the last days before summer holidays at primary school, it was warm but not sickly hot and we were allowed outside to play until late...

Sputnik, yes, the area around Volterra is just beautiful, we stayed in agriturismo on top of a hill, it was just wonderful and people were friendly
