Welcome!

Same here Rosa, I now have to read thrillers and total page turners otherwise there's no chance I'll get past the 3rd chapter. I used to be a much more prolific reader, now I spend too much time on mn instead.

Franca, I will concede that Dom Matrionij is actually quite readable, it's the longer stuff that gets me. I read Cancer Ward, Ivan Denisivoch, plus some Gulag Archipelago (partly in Russian, partly in English) and they made for some pretty depressing reading. I still managed to read 3 of this books though, so it can't have been all bad I suppose....

Are you guys planning anything nice for this long weekend?

francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 12:57

I see. I don't really discriminate on subject matters, as long as it is a good book, so I'm ok with depressing if the book is good.

We are going to my pil's house in the country. They are away, so we are going there with friends.

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:01

That's nice of your PILs leaving you their place when they're away. I hope the weather is good.

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:05

On another note, I saw an interesting article on Berlusconi in the Economist today. They really don't like him, do they?. And did you know that if Berlusca goes full term he will have been governing for 11 of the last 19 years?

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:07

Here you go if anyone's interested

francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:10

Yes, they are very kind, they always do that .

God, yes. One of the thing I like about the UK is that Berlusconi would have no hope there. Even the Conservatives, who might share some of his political ideas, can't see his point. 11 yrs yes. After all he has made 50% of the country believe that Italy has always been run by the Communist Party

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:10

Thanks. Che faccia che ha.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:13

This was actually the one I read this morning
Che faccia indeed!

Rosa · 24/04/2008 13:17

Well See Alitalia is going well another 300 mil down the pan !!
Just got time and date for villio and cost we both went green - dh for the cost me for not 1 not 2 but 3 needles- 1 for villio, 1 for o neg , 1 for I have a slow mitral valve - discovered in dd preg -yahooooo.
Think I had better butter up dh - mind you I am hoping that we get a bit in nero !
Oh Franca if it is cold with you then it will be with us tom - and I got dd out of trousers today !
We r doing nothing special - but we have a busy May ahead and will be trying to go to Gardaland for a day as well !!

francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:22

depressing

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:24

3 needles . I'd be very scared.
Gardaland, I'd love to go!

OP posts:
Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:26

Don't you think it's odd that no one wanted to touch Alitalia with a barge pole and now Berlusca has his cordata di imprenditori? Many of whom were quoted only a few weeks ago as saying no way???? Hmmmm, what did he promise them, I wonder? State aided tax evasion for the next 20 years?

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:28

Rosa, I'm 0 neg too and had the 2nd needle as well. Luckily I didn't have to have the third (slow mitral valve - that sounds scary).

I'm planning to go to Gardaland sometime soon as well, with a friend and no children, so we can do all the scary stuff. DP went a couple of years ago but took his ds (dd was still tiny so I couldn't go, so now it's my turn. Ha!

Rosa · 24/04/2008 13:29

LOL Dh and I said the same thing this morning and all the cabin crew will be wearing geox shoes. Its the Aeroflot bit that gets to me . Father was in airline industry for many years and said worst company ever for techical stuff.BUt papers said that there will have to be staff cuts FFs Air France said that and they said no now Belusca said it its ok ... Mind you did you see the ex communist leader 8thousand a month pension and the kids in Africa are dying of starvation. Disgusting.

Rosa · 24/04/2008 13:31

when I had second needle after 1st one I sort of fainted ( funny now) seeing as had had a 1ft one in belly for 15 mins !!
I will be on little one duty at Gardaland - you should bring dd there are loads of little things to do as well. Apparently as well a yummy Mcdonalds !!!!!!!!!!!!

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:33

You mean Bertinotti? I've never figured out why all these parlamentari get a pension when it's palese that they're working. I mean, it's not as if they're paid in nero and no one sees them. What are these pensions for, anyway?

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:37

McD's nooooo......

I'm sure there are plenty of things for the littlies, but I want to do the scary grown up stuff without having to worry about anyone else, not even for one second. If I go with DP and he doesn't go on half the rides because he's scared (yes, really!) I will still get grumbled at for leaving DD with him all the time. Not to mention that DD will want to come on all the scary things with me and will tantrum constantly. This way, I get to go with someone who will come on the rides with me and no one has to get grumpy or left out. It's a win win situation, no?.

francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:40

Yes, Aeroflot has the scariest rates of accidents, but Putin is Berlusconi's best friend so he prefers doing business with his russian friends rather than the French (double ). ANd Ligresti has been inquisito more than once.

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:40

I want to go to the scary ones as well!

OP posts:
Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:42

I think Berlusca is aiming for a presidency style like Putin's, only he won't need to censor the press because it's his anyway.

He is not used to having to bow to opposing opinions, having always been the boss of his companies.

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 13:44

I vote we all organise a day out at Gardaland to do nothing but go on scary rides. We'd have to do a day midweek outside holiday periods to avoid everybody else's children, but I'm sure I can wangle a day off for that....

francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2008 13:45

I'm in!

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/04/2008 13:59

Well I can manage the tea cups and mini roundabout !! I will send you dh who does all the scary stuff. I can handbag watch !! I love just about everything but I hate head banging rides..meaning when you go on them your head bangs on the head rests etc. DH and I had one of the best holidays doing Islands of adventure and Universal in the same day no queues for anything and some superb rides.
Think it was Bertinotti and another its in Espresso - I only saw the stampa thing at 7.45 on Can5! ( Oh no I was watching belusca channel )

Brangelina · 24/04/2008 14:06

OK, organizziamolo.

Rosa, you can handbag watch if you like, we will buy you succhi di frutta and ice cream to keep your strength up.

gio71 · 25/04/2008 07:15

that Economist article makes for depressing breakfast reading! So by 2020 Romania will have overtaken Italy! -not because is Romania - but wtf!
