Welcome!

rosa, your poor little mini rosa! Keep us posted (btw dd once was really unwell for a virus, vomit, temperature, sore throat and had puntini. GP didn't seem too worried, and as usual she started to feel better after taking her to see the doctor ...). I hope mini rosa will get better soon.
Gio glad your ds is on the mend. They get very clingy when they are ill and so tiny... I feel very guilty as I forgot to ask fil the brand of his mosquitoes machine, sorry ! will go to pils on thurs and try to get that name for you.

Happy birthday brange!

weather is still crap here as well. I want to wear my springy clothes!

Oh poor little Rosina! How weird about the rash. Could it not be the 6a malattia? (premesso che I have never seen the 6a malattia in action so could e talking out of my backside, but there does seem to be a lot of it about around here and doesn't it have a rash?) At least it's not streptococco but it's the not knowing that's scary, isn't it? I hope she's well soon.

Horrible rain here too. Oh well, at least the weekend was nice. DP has redeemed himself, had a lie in and got taken out for a birthday meal, though someone didn't think to check on internet first so we spent hours driving randomly around l'alta Branza before ending up at a pizzeria we'd been too 100s of times before. Poor DD was so hungry she was chewing her arm off. No wee puddles this weekend either. Bliss!

at Gio on a beach....
I'm sorry, I don't really have any poison free suggestions for the zanzare other than to zap them with a huge zapping machine (whatever they're called). DP has an electric tennis racket thing we found a few years ago and spends many a summer evening practising his strokes. A bit like a mini Wimbledon, DP against the insect hordes....

francagoestohollywood · 21/04/2008 12:14

oh yes, fil has the electric racket too (you can buy it on dmail), works very well with mosche as well

OP posts:
Brangelina · 21/04/2008 12:45

Oh really? We got ours in Coloniale, there was just 1 batch in and they sold out in 2 days. We use it for the mosche too, only il grande cacciatore never picks up the bodies. DD once picked one up when she was crawling and almost put it in her mouth.

I must check the dmail - do they have them all year round?

Rosa · 21/04/2008 12:52

They thought it could be the 6a but as the puntini have never appeared on her face or her chest they are thinking no. Franca I live in hope that after today it will get better poor thing I was nearly in tears at the doc ( hormones as well). I have never heard of this electric tennis raquet and I am LOL at my imagination - I should invest in one for dh - might be better then the giornale or tea towel and leaping off the sofa !!
Glad Dp has redemmed himself - you are forgiving I might have drawn it out a bit longer!!!
Its Cold here as well blahhhh after yesterday I was in a t shirt !!!

francagoestohollywood · 21/04/2008 12:59

well I think fil got in on dmail, but I might be wrong...
Rosa, my dad usually uses the hoover to hoover zanzare... .
I really hope rosina will feel better asap. nasty bugs still doing the rounds. I blame the weather.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 21/04/2008 13:06

Lol, I used to hoover them off the ceiling too before going to bed.
I am too forgiving I know. I would have drawn it out longer had I not wanted a nice present. I think he got the point though, there has been much unprompted filling of dishwasher these last few days....

hotHELL · 22/04/2008 09:40

rosa how many weeks are you now? you will feel on top of the world very soon....

hotHELL · 22/04/2008 09:41

all this talk of mozzies is making me crave the hot weather.....

Rosa · 22/04/2008 12:08

we had a zanzara last night in the bedroom . I hate the things. Of course we couldn't find it and today its raining - every time I open a window to try and passare aria the blessed wind changes direction.I am 11 weeks tom but have cvs first before can think about enjoying anything !!

francagoestohollywood · 22/04/2008 12:55

how's dd rosa?
macche' hot weather, it's cold here

OP posts:
Rosa · 22/04/2008 14:58

Franca she is grumpy but maybe as she can't go out due to the rain. Her macchie are still there stronger in some places less in others. I think overall less but some seem redder. Throat again wierd. She had 1st mouthful of lunch and cried in pain. Then after calming she ate more which was fine. Then it happened again. ALmost like she is catching something in her mouth or throat. She is havning runny easy things but I think she is hungry and wants more but gets scared !! Cold here as well not a nice day!

francagoestohollywood · 22/04/2008 16:06

. I think it takes a while for the macchie to fade, even after temp has gone... maybe. Sounds really nasty. has the temp gone then? I think you can justify lots of ice cream for her.

OP posts:
hotHELL · 22/04/2008 19:46

could it be tonsillite? sounds very nasty, ds never had anything so nasty.....
lovely spring day here, the english of course in summer dresses already...

gio71 · 23/04/2008 07:27

lol at Brits in summer dresses.
How's Rosina?
Had rare night out last night with a mate, stuffed face with gorgeous food and red wine, feeling bit fragile.....

hotHELL · 23/04/2008 09:34

raining here today, reasonably warm, the brits still wearing summer dresses

francagoestohollywood · 23/04/2008 12:17

mmmm nights out sound more exciting in rome than in Milan. I think it has to do with the yummie food

I wonder how's rosina's doing. yesterday a friend's dd stayed with us for the afternoon and couldn't eat for the sore mouth and throat. might be the same thing???

OP posts:
Rosa · 23/04/2008 15:21

Hello well now she is just spotty . Her throat is fine seeing as she ate toast this morning ! She is however being extremely difficult so somthing is still in there or this is being re nominated the terrible 2 virus. I think she still has a fear of things hurting her in her throat and she won't touch even her favourite things but you say the word chocolate and she is all ears! She wouldn't nap for dh either and she was sleeping over 2 hrs these last few days.
Went to doc Cvs will be May 5th so another 3 weeks to keep quiet about it all . 2 til test and week for results.Saw the bean!!
Gio good for you I am out with friends tom night but I think I will be on a pizza bianca and aqua ! How is your ds is he suffering with peeling ?
OH how I want a spring roll / decent mexican AHHHHH well this summer !!

francagoestohollywood · 23/04/2008 16:03

Glad she had something to eat today. The tend to be difficult when unwell, don't they?
I should go and make sugo, as we have friends coming tonight with their dc.
I long for good avocados to make guacamole, but for some reasons they are not very nice here. I want marks and spencer's avocados.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 23/04/2008 16:18

Glad your DD's better Rosa, I hope the marks fade soon too. Did you ever find out what it was?

I also have peeps for dinner, have made this Indian aubergine dish and lots of meze and verdure. I'm so crap at menu planning, I thought about what to make last week but totally failed to buy the necessary ingredients (despte 150 euro food bill!) and had to scrabble around with what's in the fridge. Luckily it's someone who will eat anything.

Agree avocados are not very nice here, most of them are totally tasteless and smell of chicken for some reason.

francagoestohollywood · 23/04/2008 16:31

mmmm sounds delicious brangelina, I wish cooking Asian food was "natural" to me, instead, I always end up making pasta . how boring. but hei, you could invite me for some exotic meal .

I find meal planning impossible to do. I'm a crap housewife.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 23/04/2008 16:34

I always end up making pasta too, only I have no Mutti left and I can't possibly go down the sugo pronto route. Oh he shame!.

I will invite you one day and make lots of curries if you like. I will have to menu plan for weeks first of course (weeks of returning to the shop to buy what I forgot on the previous visit(s))

francagoestohollywood · 23/04/2008 16:45

Gosh yes, Mutti, tis a must have (though I find esselunga polpa fine is quite nice).
Yes, I'd love a curry .

OP posts:
Rosa · 23/04/2008 19:00

Bragelina just say when and I will be there. Will bring the beer ! We are great Mutti fans here . We scan the supermarket volantini and head over when we see Mutti and buy in silly quantities. Tonight I have bought chilli crisps / nacho kind of things. MAde a chilli sugo with fagoli rossi , guacamole dip ( yes its in a jar as I agree with all you have said on avacados I only eat here with worcester sauce!!)and made my own sour cream - well cream , lemon heaps of black pepper.
DD has had an unidentified virus we think. Re the mouth / throat
We are now thinking towards growth of back teeth as tonight she was obviously hungry attacked the pasta with gusto and then screamed out - This repeated itself. When moved onto frutta she was cautious but when she realised that teh pear was so soft she could swallow straight away it all went. and ( HURRAH ) she ate a mouthful of a Kinder penguin thing and said no.......I did not buy it !!! Full of latte and roba buona (dove ???)

Brangelina · 23/04/2008 20:30

La partita is on so I've come here to refuge. Uffa

Lol at the Kinder Pinguino! I refuse to buy kinder because of the marketing of their products as nutritious (where?) So, it has milk in but it also has refined sugars, corn syrup and grassi raffinati. Yet people buy this shite because they believe the hype. Rant over.
Glad your DD's well on the way to recovery. It might be the molars, although I don't remember DD being like this, but then every child is different. Is your DD doing toxic poos as well?

You're all welcome for a curry party - Rosa, Cobra beer please. My aubergine dish wasn't as nice as it should have been, mainly becasue I forgot one of the aubergines, found it in my sink about 1/2 hour later, dozy bint that I am. Oh well, managed to remedy with a spoonful of hot lime pickle stirred in very quickly.
Am very impressed by the chilli sugo. We just get the bean and green chilli burrito filling in a tin and mix it up with lots of salad veggies and salsa in a flour tortilla. I take it you didn't find the sour cream then. Sometimes half and half cream and greek yogurt can work.

Franca - interesting about the Esselunga polpa. will keep that in mind for the next Mutti shortage.
