Does a grubby spaniel count as a decorative throw?

ComeOVeneer · 18/03/2008 11:53

Likewise the cushions aren't decorative but used for propping up whilst reading.

castille · 18/03/2008 12:12

Only a throw. And only because I always have cold feet

I don't like fussy bedrooms. Ours is calm and simple, and I like it to smell freshly aired, so no flowers or candles.

Only yes to one
3.Decorative cushions on the bed

mainly because when the dd's come in during the night I end up laying horizontally oin the end of the bed so make spare pillows for me

artichokes · 18/03/2008 12:26

I have big comfy cushoins on the bed. They are attractive and therefore may be perceived as falling into the category of decorative, but in fact they are just there for the comfy factor.

I have a flowering lily plant on the chest of draws. But is is a living breathing plant.

mrbojangles · 18/03/2008 12:27

none

DrNortherner · 18/03/2008 12:28

All of them except vase of flowers.

bozza · 18/03/2008 12:39

We have one cushion on our bed so whoever gets in bed first gets it to prop themselves up with because we only have one pillow each. We also have a choc brown fleecy throw over the end of the bed. I find it useful for keeping my feet warm. Also can be pulled up on cold nights.

And can I get extra marks for poncenastic tastelessness by pointing out that both my children also have throws on their beds?

ComeOVeneer · 18/03/2008 12:41

Bozza both my children have throws too and cushions (but ds's are car related and dd's are fairy related, to co-ordinate with the decor of the room) - and they both have their own bathrooms. Shall I get my coat

BexieID · 18/03/2008 12:42

None, lol. Thought you were going to say computers, dvds, tvs!

lentengrrl · 18/03/2008 12:43

2 & 4

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 12:45

But only because they were the ones with the thickest base when we last had a power cut (didn't want them falling over and setting fire to the house )

Ordinarily.... none.

ComeOVeneer · 18/03/2008 12:47

Belive me I could do without it, as ds (3) currently has a thing about toothpaste art on the mirror/floors/side of the bath.

Maidamess · 18/03/2008 12:48

I only have a throw..but thats because I get freezing at night. I do have 3 huge piles of clothes waiting to be put away (my worst job), and several used tissues (yuck) .

I do have my own bathroom, which has candles, and flowers! Don't quite know how I managed that.

rey · 18/03/2008 12:49

In an ideal house I would have all but our rooms are too small to sleep in never mind cope with those things and not knock over/burn the house down. Also the throws and cushions where do you put them at night without tripping over them in the middle of the night?

Maybe we should put the size of our bedrooms down and that might show why some do and some dont

TheHonEnid · 18/03/2008 12:49

2 and 4

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 12:50

if my bedroom was anything other than the slum it is i may consider having some of these things in it. quite like the idea of flowers.

i do need some new curtains though. had the ones that are there made specially and i hate them.

Do decorative and smelly dogs count?

BoysOnToast · 18/03/2008 13:09

i have big cushions and a bedspread thing. from white co.

but then, im posh. like pph. innit.

Othersideofthechannel · 18/03/2008 13:15

We have a big scented candle which was a gift. It is very decorative but I would never burn it because I have heard that the fumes of scented candles aren't very good for you. Is that right?

None of the rest.

EricL · 18/03/2008 13:15

I know people who are like this.

Some people do spend a lot of time making their house look like a showhome.

we say ours looks 'lived in'

BoysOnToast · 18/03/2008 13:18

i do not spend a lot of time making my home look like a show home.
i designed it well, with an unimaginable budget.
and i pay other people to keep it looking like a show home. with added lego.

EricL · 18/03/2008 13:18

Yes Otherside......

It has been pointed out a lot recently that smothering your house in lots of different man-made chemicals maybe isn't such a good idea after all.

My DW has also given up anti-perspirant/deodourant type things under the arms and has found that she no longer sweats as much.

Doens't make sense does it?
