I have an ivory bedspread similar to this which means I can get away with not ironing our enormous duvet covers as I throw the cover over and plump the pillows (always white pillow cases and always ironed) on top and it leaves the room looking smart and inviting. I couldn't be bothered with a colour co-ordinated throw at the bottom of the bed and cushions. I always have windows open in bedroom even in the winter so candle prob pointless. I do have scented candle downstairs. I like Jo Malone home candles. And I always have flowers in the kitchen, big sitting room and hall - I can't run to a fourth bunch every week!

shrinkingsagpuss · 18/03/2008 11:12

none of them.....

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 11:12

scented candles smell to me like someone has done a stinky poo and tried to cover up the smell

Next step plug in air fresheners

No19 · 18/03/2008 11:29

Yuck what horrible candles have you tried? Mmmm Molton Brown and Jo mmmmmmm Malone candles are gorgeous.

CountessDracula · 18/03/2008 11:30

have tried both
i just don't like scented candles

cheesesarnie · 18/03/2008 11:30

none.just a bed and aload of crap thats go no where else to live.

fishie · 18/03/2008 11:36

none, of those things, except a pillow on top of old hearth in case ds falls out of bed onto it.

no pictures but do have a wall with big blue and gold flowery poncy paper on. otherwise just bed, chair, trunk, wardrobe and bedside cabinets. most clothes live elsewhere.

No19 · 18/03/2008 11:37

Fair enough, a friend of mine hates perfume, whenever I have something I think is yum she says oh no I get a headache from smells like that! And there am I thinking I smell practically edible...

cheesesarnie · 18/03/2008 11:38

scented candles and those plug in thingys give me migranes.

CountessDracula · 18/03/2008 11:39

I love Chanel No 5 but on a body not in the air

PrimulaVeris · 18/03/2008 11:40

None of those.

Though thinking about it scented candles could be useful for neutralising smell of husbandly fart....

callmeovercautious · 18/03/2008 11:40

Can a bag of nappies double as cushions?

cheesesarnie · 18/03/2008 11:44

im with you callmeovercautious-does bags of clothes and all my crap thats scattered count as scatter cushions???

my room is bright pink with daisys on the wall so its great for giving you headaches-it was dd's but weve not got round to painting

themildmanneredbunny · 18/03/2008 11:45

I've got two tasteful cushions, but they live on the floor, sort of half shoved under the bed.

ChicaLovesHerLocalGreengrocer · 18/03/2008 11:46

Have cushions, but they're not just decorative. I use them to prop me up when I'm reading in bed, then they get slung on the floor. Wouldn't have them if they were just for decoration.

Ditto bedspread. It gets rather chilly here, (no heating) but dh doesn't feel the cold. So, on my side of the bed I have an extra single duvet, which during the day I lay over the end of the bed in 'bedspread style'. Couldn't say it's co-ordinated colourwise though.

Would love to be the kind of person to have vases of flowers etc, but just never get round to buying them.

Blu · 18/03/2008 11:46

None of those.

I don't understand this fad for making your bedroom look like a hotel.

And I hate scented candles in any room, have 'green' issues with cut flowers

We DO have a light scattering of lego in primary colours,

CountessDracula · 18/03/2008 11:47

I'm afraid any time anyone says they have something "tasteful" I just know it won't be

ComeOVeneer · 18/03/2008 11:50

My bedroom is a sort of "baileys" colourI have a dressing room off the side of it so the only furniture is a huge wrought iron bed, bedside tables, dressing table and a rocking chair. I have a creamy quilt similar to www.linenslimited.co.uk/cologne-7pc-comforter-set-super-king-cream-p-1758.html this with an assortment on browny/creamy cushions, unscented candles like these on grey slate stands and a small vase with a single cream rose, or a single stem of orchids on the dressing table (whatever dh buys me that week). Not everyones cup of tea I guess, but I find it a peaceful haven. I do have scented candles in the ensuite bathroom.

AtheneNoctua · 18/03/2008 11:51

I have none of those things. Of all the rooms in the house I care the least what the bedroom looks like. I insist the duvet cover/sheets/pillowcases all match. But happy to have just enough of them to keep me warm and comfy.
