Property Ladder - anyone see it tonight?

Just had to post something about this programme. I watch it every week, and love the fact that Sarah is always right, and the "amateur" is always wrong. But tonight's programme was a classic - did anyone else think "personality clash"? And did anyone else think that Sarah went out of the way to show that she was right? They don't normally show people viewing the house, and they also seemed determined to show that the estate agents were concerned about the roof.

Great prog - I love it! (yet another one! )

Yes, I also love Location x 3 - got a bit of a soft spot for Phil. Although I thought the house they wanted tonight was unique, it certainly wouldn't appeal to me. And why did they want to be near bars etc if they have a child (& now another one on the way? ). Dh always jokes that they never find the people a house on this prog - and it seems he's nearly always right. Still, I enjoy it!

So how long did it take for her to sell???? that's also a way to loose money as she has to pay the mortgage on the property... a good property developer doesn't hang on his property at all... as did the very boring couple last wee... first day of viewing, firt person through the door... asking price !

Demented · 28/11/2002 09:56

I love all these programmes. Yes they almost never find the people a house on LLL, it's hillarious, love seeing all the houses on the programme though. Should be posting about Kirsty from LLL on celebs you would like to slap (or something), she is so annoying!!!

I am disappointed to find out that Sian sold that house for £180k in the end, it was a mess!

What I dislike about LLL is the useless information given to people on what they could do with a property - particularly by that woman (Kirsty?)
She told a couple looking for a house in Edinburgh (previous series) that they could knock down a wall between the Lounge & the stairwell to give them more room (knocking on the wall and confidently stating that is was not loadbearing beacause it sounded hollow). In know these houses and they're timber framed and so is quite likely to be loadbearing, and what's more, it's part of the fire enclosure for the stairwell that's required in 3 storey homes in Scotland - there's no way they should be removing it! How much are these dimwitts paid to give out such "expert advice"? I seam to recall they made an offer on the property.

PamT · 28/11/2002 13:10

Had to add my bit about LLL. Kirsty drives me potty with her 'lets remove this wall and move that wall' every week, you just know that its coming. And why does she wear red shoes when they just don't go with the rest of her outfit? (turqoise top last week I believe). My mum always used to say red shoes no nickers!

Also love property ladder and Grand Designs was brilliant.

Mines · 28/11/2002 13:26

Oooh yes, Grand Designs - the only TV show I have ever vaguely thought I might like to be on. Does anyone know what happened to that woman from the first series who was building an enormous and manically authentic Georgian pile? The programme ended with her about 300% over budget and probably 12 months behind schedule and I always wanted to know what happened next

Demented · 28/11/2002 14:51

Too true about Kirsty's mumsy skirts doing nothing for her, was I the only one who thought she looked pg this week?

Katherine · 28/11/2002 18:24

RE: Grand Designs, they repeated it in the recent "Revisited" series but it was carbon copy, they didn't Revisit at all, we could only conclude that she did have to sell up in the end. Been nice if they'd told us though.

aloha · 28/11/2002 20:15

Oh poo! I wanted her to have to be stuck with her horrible house for years and years.

Tinker · 28/11/2002 23:49

Going back to LLL, did anyone else think that that blue house at the end was utterly vile? Just because it was owned by 'aaarrrrrtists' that somehow made it tasteful instead of bloody hideous.

sis · 29/11/2002 09:58

tinker, yep, the house waas horrible - the couple buying seeming more interested in having a wow factor than whether they actually liked anything about it!

willow2 · 29/11/2002 11:18

Tinker - absolutely. Nice amount of space, xxxxxxx awful decor. It was like a bad acid trip. And where was the garden?

Get out the Farrow and Ball Lime White love!

willow2 · 29/11/2002 11:20

Also, think Phil and Kirsty are an item. She is definitely a fur coat no knickers candidate - her shoe's are pure S&M at times.

Furball · 29/11/2002 11:33

I don't know whether you watched Model Behaviour -there was and 'ugly look a like' version of Kirsty (if you just knock this wall down) and Phil on that!

Enid · 29/11/2002 11:47

I liked the blue house - and even worse, I like Kirsty and always think she looks rather glamorous.

Lizzer · 29/11/2002 12:49

Yes v bad house, and the couple looked like they were despereate to get on telly more than anything else. They just didn't seem 'real' IYKWIM. Maybe just bad editing but I thought they were actors reading a script... The woman looked really familiar too..?

willow2 · 29/11/2002 13:49

Re Model behaviour - that ugly Kirsty lookalike used to be my best friend at Junior School. I nearly choked on my cuppa when I saw her. Also, she's got all Germanic since going into fashion - and added a Von to her name that was never mentioned previously. She was a real sweetie.... but haven't seen her in donkeys and fear she may have begun to believe her own hype...

Demented · 29/11/2002 14:06

Furball, I thought that too! For the first half of the programme I was convinced it was her.

Another vote for not liking the blue house here. Nice house, awful decor.

jessi · 29/11/2002 15:54

OK I'm confused now, the kirsty lookalike in Model behaiviour, was she a model or a booker on it? Was she the one who told them off for getting drunk?
I am so happy to be able to contribute my twopence worth to this thread, we only watched all these property progs last night on video. Did anyone see the one before LLL about buying a place abroad? I Love LLL, quite like Kirsty and her very correct way of speaking. Thought the prog was pointless though as they didn't have a buyer. What was up with the couple who were clearly in their 30's but 'had to be near the bars and brighton scene'? People are so weird aren't they, the Hove house with the gorgeous garden was what I would've liked, sod the artists puce palace. Also, hello, £330K for their green house of hell off brick lane?? No wonder no buyer for that one.
Battle of the blondes was heaven to watch and I though SB was really cool and not too mean to her when she could of been. Hated the kitchen, what a waste of £5K. Dh and I both want to win the lottery and be property developers, it looks so much fun. Does anyone elses dh fancy SB? My dh go's really quiet when she's on...!!

valleygirl · 29/11/2002 16:11

My work colleague wanted to add this to the chat room regarding the character on "Property Ladder" this week:

"I was at was at University with Sian, she went out with my friend and ruined his life with her temper tantrums and flirting with all and sundry. Her nickname was Pyscho. Thought you might appreciate this bit of info"

i guess she wasn't that that mad that she couldn't make some money from that house of hers!!

aloha · 29/11/2002 16:55

I love the insider gossip on this thread - is nobody safe from old schoolfriends/neighbours! (hope not) Doesn't SB have funny taste in clothes? Even my dh has noticed, and he's from Yorkshire.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2002 17:00

My DH is very taken by SBs bust

SoupDragon · 29/11/2002 17:00

(and that's Sarah Beeny, not SB34 in case she reads this! )

lou33 · 29/11/2002 17:13

Unless she is one and the same Soupdragon!!
