Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Afternoon. Rain here for most of the morning.

DD is feeling much better today, so we’re going to risk the meal later.

I know Helen, she’s 16, seems no time since I was picking her up from nursery. Shock Hope the new chickens are settling in.

Glad you’re feeling better WW. I listened to your song, it’s a bit busy for me, but I’m sure it will do well.

I’ll have a look for Whitstable Pearl.

LetUsPrey · 10/03/2024 18:17

Evening wenches.

Day went as planned and DS1 and his girlfriend are here now. Cakes (toffee cupcakes with buttercream) have gone down a treat. Has been a full on day though.

Yes, it’s on one of those free channels now. Can’t remember what I was watching when it kept coming up, don’t think it was The Tudors (which is on very shaky ground historically but to be fair I don’t believe it ever claimed to be going for accuracy), or Miss Scarlet and The Duke - which I recommend if you can get the channel it’s on. Oh I know, it was that Marlow Murder Club. Anyway, yes, think I’ll give it a go too.

Hope the meal was enjoyable Apricot and that DD is better.

Our Eurovision entry is Olly Alexander. I know him from Years and Years, but he acts too although I think I’ve only ever seen him in an episode of Lewis.

Most of the way through a vodka so there’ll be no knitting even after DS1 has gone home.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/03/2024 18:29

Evening. Chickens see to be settling in - they've both laid eggs, despite being mid-moult, which is a promising start. One of them also escaped today <eye roll> but was amenable to being herded back on.

Much turf has been laid over dips in the lawn, and to give the chickens something to play with in their run, so I'm a bit pooped.

The Swedish tune is very Eurovision-ish <electro beepity-boopness> and will doubtless outperform whatever it it we're putting forward.

Hope that LetUs enjoys the rest of the Vodka and Apricot has had a nice meal out. Also hope that Fancy has had a nice weekend of pottering and visits from DCs.

How is it Monday tomorrow? <le sigh>

Morning wenches.

Oh look, Monday again, and it’s raining.

Good that the chickens are settling in. Eeek at Houdini2!

Couldn’t get to sleep for ages because of stupid indigestion so I shall wearing the fake smile a lot today in an effort not to snarl at people.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/03/2024 08:13

Morning all. Dull here, but not raining. All chickens safely locked in for now... the new ones are definitely being bossed about through. Ho hum... they did insist on getting in with the rest of them!

Just snarl LetUs - it might keep some of the work fuckwits out of your hair Grin

ApricotCrush · 11/03/2024 18:12

Evening. Bit of a grey day here. Lovely meal with the family last night and DD is much better thank you.

Good that the new chickens are laying, hope they’re not being bossed about too much.

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/03/2024 19:28

FFS wenches. I have been plodding through the day working through a long list <nto, I wish>, and it's been relatively successful. But then I took DS out to sporty things and picked up some milk... which gently leaked over the bag and onto the back seat of my car. I mopped it up and tried using the carpet cleaner on it, but the hand-held attachment has the suction of a gnat so I suspect all I've gone is dilute the bloody stuff and send it deeper into the seat. F.M.L. So now I'm a raging ball of depressed gloom. Joy.
<kicks everything*, hard>

  • not wenches, pets, family (though that's tempting) Don't bother sending emergency Athos - we'd probably just end up in a feedback loop of self-absorbed misery and drain the life out of anything in the vicinity. Do send a huge comfortable bed and a blissful night's sleep...

Evening wenches.

I seem to have scared some people off at work by stern looks. Didn’t put off the one who came in at lunchtime as I actually had my sandwich in my hand (and mouth).

Oh big bollocky bollocks about the milk Helen. Hope it’s not too bad. Grin At the disclaimer.

Excellent news that DD’s feeling better Apricot.

Am all kinds of tired and am fully intending to have an early night.

LetUsPrey · 12/03/2024 07:34

Morning wenches.

Did indeed have an early night. Not much in the way of decent sleep though and not helped by absolutely crackers dreams.

We have all the rain here so hopefully it won’t be raining on anywench else.

Anyway, let’s see what today brings. Hope it’s happy things for wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/03/2024 07:35

Morning. It's grey and dull and a but misty<nto>

Didn't sleep brilliantly - awake at 3am with bonkers dreams. Ho hum. Fingers crossed for a good/better day for everyone.

ApricotCrush · 12/03/2024 16:47

Afternoon. Rain, rain and more rain. I’ve been doing housework all morning and now I’m knackered.

Oh Helen I always dread that when I put milk in the boot, hope you’ve been able to clean your seat.

Stern looks LetUs? Surely not. Hope you’ve had a reasonable day.

LetUsPrey · 12/03/2024 20:20

Evening wenches.

Rain, not rain, rain.

Barely stopped all day and am now rather pooped. Grin Apricot. I think my stern look has escalated to “be grateful I don’t have anything sharp to throw to hand”.

Here’s to early nights and decent sleep for us all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/03/2024 20:41

Evening all. We've had a bit of rain today, but not a lot, or all day. <sends umbrellas to those in need, with HBFs to hold them>

Today I have had fewer urges to kick everything. This is a good thing. Work has gone well, though I have just remembered a new job that I have completely failed to look at. Oops. Oh well. I suppose I could have a quick look tonight so at least I've made a start.

I'll know the car/milk status in a few days, depending whether or not I open the door to get in, and have to fight the urge to hurl due to revolting stinkiness. It feel cold enough at the moment that it might as well be a fridge.

LetUsPrey · 13/03/2024 07:33

Morning wenches.

Bit miserable today, and so’s the weather <badoomtish>

I seem to remember something about bicarbonate of soda to combat milk odours but can offer nothing further than that. Hopefully it won’t be noticeable anyway.

One staff member whose work we’ve been covering is back today. Let’s see if they get straight back into the swing of things and get on with it.

Have lovely days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/03/2024 07:48

Morning all. High cloud here and the sun's making an effort to break through - all silvery haze through the clouds. Birds are birding, cats are catting, etc etc. I have scrubbed the sink clean (that periodic clean when wiping round isn't working any more) and now I need to head out the door. Give me a mo to control my excitement.... or to find some to control.

Have a good day all.

<pushes LetUsColleague vigorously on the swing>

ApricotCrush · 13/03/2024 16:41

Afternoon. Aaaaaaand it’s raining. Hmm

Well, we thought we had escaped DD’s cold but now DGS has it and he’s been here this afternoon, so…. <sigh>

We watched True Things last night and it was fine to start with but turned weird about half way through and then ended abruptly. Very strange.

Hope work has been easier for you today LetUs.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 13/03/2024 18:38

I'm a bit worried now, just listened to your entry to Eurovision and it's really good! What the hell?? Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/03/2024 18:43

Evening. No rain here yet, but it's been cloudy and dull all day.

What a pain re, the cold Apricot - I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't get it too badly (Obviously it would be better not to get it at all, but chance would be a fine thing!)

When is Eurovision if the songs are all chosen? I could google, but I am too lazy and have to go out shortly.

Hope that work has been painless Fancy and LetUs!

Evening wenches.

Returning colleague unfortunately seems to be continuing as before. Le sigh.

Ooooo scared Wicked? GrinGrin

<squirts dettol everywhere at Apricot’s>
<restocks vitamin C supplements>

Eurovision is 11th May Helen. (I think)

Rain arrived this afternoon and hasn’t really gone away since. Proper chucking it down now.

LetUsPrey · 14/03/2024 07:29

Morning wenches.

Doesn’t seem to be raining. I think that’s the most exciting thing to report.

I suppose Thursday beckons. May it be good to wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/03/2024 07:40

Morning wenches. We have <gasp> sunshine! Not actual blue skies/blazing sun, but still sunshine though the clouds casting shadows.

Had a stupidly late night last night because FB was being an arse and I was trying to update a page/settings/sort out why it simultaneously insists I have an unread message and also that I don't. Nothing got resolved, I just got more tired than I was to start with. FFS, etc.

Here's to peaceful and pleasant days all round. Or at least no extreme fuckwittage from colleagues and customers.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 14/03/2024 16:28

Afternoon. No rain all day, but it’s just started. Not cold though.

We’ve started walking round the road a couple of times when we’ve cleared up from the evening meal. I thought it might help me to sleep a bit better but there doesn’t seem to be any improvement yet. 😔

I haven’t heard the Euro song yet, will have a listen.

LetUsPrey · 14/03/2024 19:40

Evening wenches.

Work is the usual.

Rain all afternoon. Oooooo Apricot a stroll after evening meal sounds lovely - also lighter evenings!

I’m absolutely knackered so my do bath’n’book and then bed, or may just do bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/03/2024 22:10

Evening all. Also tired and heading for bed. Today's excitement was putting on two loads of washing on the line and it mostly drying. Tragic.

On the other hand, DH has just put Pointless on, so now I'm trying to be cleverer than the contestents.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 15/03/2024 07:27

Morning wenches.

Two loads almost dry on the line would thrill me Helen.

Day off today but it’s for a funeral, so not the funnest reason. It’ll be fine though.
