Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Afternoon. Nice day but there’s a cold wind. DD came round and we walked two laps of the road, not much but better than nothing. Apart from that I’ve washed the bedclothes and knitted.

February does seem to have gone quickly, very strange.

Evening. I have not been outside very much today, but it's been dry.

There's been a meme that's been doing the rounds with piglet and pooh, complaining about it not being Summer yet. Some rummaging later, here it is... I identify with this.

DS has been deemed 'rather pale' and having 'a virus'. He has done a bit more in the way of school stuff today though (in between x-boxing). Hopefully he'll feel a bit better tomorrow.

DS2 this morning “oh shit I’ve two assignments due tomorrow”. This is after a week of half term where he claimed to have no college work. Expected to see him getting on with them after I got home from work. No, he’s doing them tomorrow you see because they’re due at midnight. And what will happen if, for example, there’s a power cut tomorrow evening? I’ll blame you. Alrighty then.

Shitty shit day at work with NiceColleague and I being told we’re covering even more work. People have got sick notes, so sorry it can’t be helped but you can just do all of it can’t you. The response was either burst into tears or say oh just fuck off, so I didn’t do either.

Afternoon. Bit of a grey day and very cold. I went to the dentist this morning, routine check-up and hygienist. He wants to see me again in three months, because my gums are a bit inflamed; they’ve been like that for years.

Yes, much to my surprise, DS did get the bus.

Hurrah for lots of tea LetUs, and boo to dentists trying to empty Apricot's bank. Huge sympathies on the cold Wicked - there are some horrible ones doing the rounds here at the moment.

Todays excitement was a visit from Environment Agency to look at the flooding. We all walked down the garden and agreed that there was water there (and that it has been worse last year).

Currently booting idiot kitty outside into the rain, repeatedly, for bringing a mouse in - repeatedly.

I need to go and sort out packed lunch (not including a mouse)

Evening. Has been rather hectic here. Lovely visit from DSis and family until I went down with some godawful D&V on the last night (luckily after all the planned events, so the only thing I couldn't do was provide breakfast and wave everyone off on Sunday morning.) Spent the day between bed and the toilet. Have been slowly recuperating since. Stomach still tender but churning less and feeling better for being dehydrated. Chonk and Floof have been quite sweet and not too pesky, which was a relief.

To be fair to our dentist, we have insurance which costs a bloody fortune, but we can get an emergency appointment within hours if we’re in trouble. On one occasion he came back from down south earlier than he had planned on a Saturday because DH was in agony. (Of course it was worth it to him because he could charge the insurance company for it.) I’m terrified he’ll retire because my teeth and gums are complicated and no-one understands them like he does. I’ve had a lot of work done, to the point that I’m a bit phobic about going now.

Honestly, if NiceColleague and I didn’t have each other at work, we’d have given up long ago. It’s okay though because we’re “appreciated”. Gosh thanks so much! That means a lot! Please please give us even more work so we can be appreciated even more! Alternatively employe some decent sodding staff who do their job properly instead of letting some of the existing ones pick and choose what they do and take the piss.

And to put the mouldy cherry on the cake of shite I’ve just gone wrong with my knitting and have unravelled it all. Couple of hours’ worth.

Afternoon. Tipping it down this morning but it’s brightened up now. I did Sainsbury’s earlier and managed not to get wet.

The golf club has been open LetUs and DH has played twice this week but he didn’t go this morning because rain. Commiserations about the knitting, it’s soul destroying. I swear I’ve knitted this latest project twice already.
