Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Evening wenches.

Raaaaaiiinnnnn. Bit bored of it being soggy and we don’t even have it particularly bad here.

Work was mad busy and I’m rather tired now. I’ve knitted too this evening, but still haven’t done any of the catching up with DS2’s paperwork.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2024 19:22

Evening. Lots of dampness today, but not too much in terms of volume. Tomorrow looks like being a different matter Confused

Can’t believe it’s been 10 years! Think I joined in June, never managed to catch up so had to skip a couple of threads Grin

FancyFancy · 21/02/2024 23:20

Evening
I think I was even later to the party apricot!

Happy Anniversary wenches Grin

Another busy week - out at a client's & then have Friday off as DSis & family are down for the weekend. I don't think Chonk & Floof are going to like that! Chonk continues to be a bit pesky but I hope I am learning how to deal with him - fortunately he likes playing so That helps tire him out. Floof is also demanding more attention & standing up for himself a bit, which is good. One night he got himself shut in a room, poor thing bolted for teh litter box when I found him - must have had his legs crossed for ages.

<cwtches ww> that sounds a bit scary, but hopefully this will sort things out for you.

Don't get washed away helen!

<hides away from work with letus>

My tooth got really painful last week - cue antibiotics & a visit to a specialist next week, may need root canal treatment <sighs>

LetUsPrey · 22/02/2024 07:24

Morning wenches.

Raining again/still. Friend in similar area to you Helen says weather warnings today. Hope they’re wrong.

Ohhhh at little Floof having to cross his legs. Well done for holding on though! Bollocks to dental issues. Quite literally a pain.

Where would I be without the wenches and the Tav? Not something I’m going to think about. <cwtches all round>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2024 10:29

Morning all. It was a bit sunny when I fed the chickens, but the rain has started now. Chick has popped her clogs overnight (she was the oldest of the flock, so no surprise. She's a hefty lump still though and now I have the issue of how to dispose of her. ('Bog Chicken' part 2?!)

Well done to Floof for holding on overnight, and for being more assertive. Is Chonk sitting on keyboards and demanding attention?

<cwtch> re the tooth Fancy Sad

Afternoon. Rain on and off all day. Golf course still closed. 😫

Oh poor Floof, getting shut in. We’re always doing that to Misty, not all night though. It’s their own fault, they sneak in without you knowing.

RIP Chick Sad.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2024 17:48

Raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin. There's not been too much, just fairly constant, but it seems heavier now.

(Also, BogChicken#2 has happened, as a gift to archaeologists of the future. I suppose I should have buried her with a little bow and arrow, or something to confused people!)

<cbf> at closed golf club.

Evening wenches.

Rain, and even an attempt at that stuff that’s not quite snow but it’s not hail or sleet on the way home.

Sad Chick. I love the idea of her also being found by future archaeologists. Smile At little bow and arrow.

Still closed Apricot? This is not acceptable. Not at all.

LetUsPrey · 23/02/2024 07:31

Morning wenches.

Nothing to report here except it’s Friday, I think it’s raining, and it’s gone rather cold again.

Have lovely Fridays wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/02/2024 09:52

Morning all. TFI and all that. It's not raining here (there's even some blue sky!) and we didn't get enough rain to flood yesterday. Hurrah!

Friday though - one day to get through, then face-plant...

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 23/02/2024 16:07

Afternoon. Showers here. I optimistically put a bit of washing on the line and it lasted all of 10 minutes. Hmm

I’m sure there was something else to report but I can’t think what it was. Couldn’t have been that important.

Anyway, have a lovely evening all. Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/02/2024 21:25

Evening all.

The rain got here quite late on, so I could have hung washing out, if I'd done any.

Today I have mostly been swearing at finance fuckups. Other peoples, and mine, all combined into one stupid pointless situation which seems to be creating work for it's own sake. FFS and all that.

I have also brushed small dog to the point of mild floofiness, which was satisfying - but a bit annoying for the dog, since I kept hitting the 'itch spot' and sending her back leg into overdrive. Poor pup. But still - fluffy. Grin

Hope that everyone's had a decent day at work without too much fuckwittery.

LetUsPrey · 23/02/2024 21:42

Evening wenches.

Rain, cold, etc.

Awww at fluffy little dog!

It’s so annoying when that happens Apricot. I’ll think oh I’ll just look that up, open google and then can’t remember what it was I wanted to look up.

Just waiting for the washing to be done and then I can go to bed. Rocknroll Friday night.

LetUsPrey · 24/02/2024 08:52

Morning wenches.

Brrrrrr cars are frozen over but it’s lovely and bright.

Meeting BestFriend this morning but I’ve time before I go to do something useful like tidying or washing up or putting laundry away. Haircut later and then I’ve got knitting to do.

Have great days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/02/2024 16:12

Morning
Afternoon. I have been busy. My lie-in got cancelled after a phonecall from DS - "I've forgotten SportingEquipment" So muggins had to go and deliver it, then I helped out with hedgecutting and tidying and bonfiring. Not even my hedge, but it was that or leave Dad to do it on his own. I am flomped on the sofa with the back massager.

The floodwaters are up in the garden again, marches under water, etc etc <le sigh>

Hope everyone has had a good day - the weather's been lovely here.

Afternoon. Lovely day, heavy frost overnight but very springlike.

Excitement of the day, a visit to Aldi. Hmm I’ve never been there before as Sainsbury’s and Lidl are much closer but one of DH’s mates said they had some cheap booze. I also did a small shop which will save me going out on Monday.

I do that too with Google LetUs, very annoying.

Aww at fluffy pup Helen but oh dear at flooding. Some of the roads round here have been closed and another car has been caught in the ford up the road. It was a Ford too! Grin I don’t know how they do it, there’s a water level sign at both sides. Confused

LetUsPrey · 24/02/2024 20:41

Evening wenches.

<swishes hair>

Successful trip to craft barn and also to bookshop. A good haul of secondhand books and a new one. Have done housework and knitting.

Ford in a ford Grin

I like the Aldi fruit cider but I don’t drink it anymore because calories.

Nothing like a good flomp with a back massager Helen. I’m sure he was very helpful. Those water levels can do one.

I’ve been watching The Tudors whilst I’m knitting. There seems to be a very very flexible approach to historical events and people.

LetUsPrey · 25/02/2024 08:45

Morning wenches.

It’s not raining! And the sun’s out!

DS1 and his girlfriend are coming for dinner so I’m looking forward to that. Lots of stuff to do today which explains why I’ve not moved for the last 45 minutes or so.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/02/2024 12:44

Morning all. (Started posting, got distracted.)

Another ground frost this morning, and blue skies so I've got a load of washing out on the line (and chickens wading scratching about in the garden).

Ongoing revision (or lack of) shenanigans with DS - not helped by his physics teacher set half term homework of 'teach yourself this entire topic' Hmm So as far as DS is concerned, he's done lots over half term (and he has) - but he hasn't done any revision, or done the plan which he said he'd do. I despair.

ApricotCrush · 25/02/2024 17:04

Afternoon. Frosty here too first thing but it brightened up later.

I haven’t done much but it doesn’t really matter. DGD and DGS2 have been here today but they went to DD’s earlier.

I do wonder about the pressure put on young people (and parents) these days with school Helen. I’m sure it wasn’t like this when our two were there and certainly not when I was.

LetUsPrey · 25/02/2024 20:59

Evening wenches.

You have my every sympathy Helen. DS1 was quite lax on the revision front for GCSEs. DS2 would get something like the stuff MiniHelen’s been given and not have a clue. He needed it to be very specific. And Apricot’s right, the pressure is so much more than when I was at school.

I’ve knitted and visited and then we had a lovely late afternoon and early evening with DS1 and his girlfriend.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/02/2024 00:15

I have stayed up far too late, reading. Am an idiot.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 26/02/2024 07:30

Morning wenches.

But a good kind of idiot Helen.

Monday again. January lasted for about 12 weeks but I seem to have blinked during February and it’s almost gone.

Very much can’t be arsed today. DS2 back at college so obviously not getting up early like he did last week.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/02/2024 08:44

Ah LetUs, I'm a tired kind of idiot.

I have phoned DS in sick and emailed the GP (earache and temperature). "I will do revision tomorrow." he said, last night, as he trudged upstairs. Hmm We'll see.

Not raining yet, but the clouds look like they're about to. Quite windy too.
