Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Morning all. It's dry here, though cloudy.

I had plans to toddle out to the nearest National Trust place and have a quiet few hours of doing not much. Then DH came home last night with a flat tyre and he's taken my car to SportingActivity, so there went that plan. I don't think it's worth me even trying to get the tyre off his car, but I might give it a go. The local type place shuts at 12:30 anyway. The garden will get some attention instead.

Afternoon. Not a bad day but it’s raining now and getting dark already. We spent the morning vacuuming the landing curtains (velvet with swags) and cleaning the window. I say we, but it’s really high and it involved two ladders on the stairs with a plank across with DH balancing on it while I stood on the bottom rung to keep it steady. Shock

The washing machine performed perfectly well but it took three bloody hours. I can’t live with that. <returns to instruction booklet to read it properly> Hmm

I’m in trouble with my knitting again. The stripes on the sleeves don’t match. Urgh! I am never, ever buying self-striped yarn again. Glad you sorted your problem LetUs.

Crikey Helen I wouldn’t know where to start with a flat tyre.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/02/2024 18:51

Urgh - stupid flat tyres. I could barely get the jack underneath the car, let alone jack the bloody thing up. I was feeling very grumpy and feeble until DH came home and agreed that it was a sod. I'd already called out the AA, who also couldn't get their jack under the car until the leaky tyre had been re-inflated. This car may not be with us long - we had no idea the sills were so ridiculously low - once decent pothole and it'll be grounded [horror]

I got a bit of garden tidying done while waiting for AA - the chickens were happy, IdiotKitty was disgruntled (chickens are scary and shouldn't be allowed out in the garden when he wants to play outside!).

Sympathies on the washing machine apricot - mine thinks it take about 3 hours, but never actually does. The dishwasher is even worse- the 'eco' setting take 5 hours!

LetUsPrey · 17/02/2024 19:20

Evening wenches.

3 hours for a wash?! Although having expressed my surprise, I bet there’s a setting on mine that takes that long.

Oh bloody hell re flat tyre Helen and ensuing difficulties. That does sound like one over-enthusiastic pothole would do serious damage.

That yarn issue is what my brain woke me up about the other morning Apricot. Doing a teddy’s onesie and was going to use a pink/grey/white variegated yarn but then realised that I’d do one leg, then do the other leg and then join them to then do the body and the colours would be all over the shop, so I’ve gone for a solid colour.

LetUsPrey · 18/02/2024 07:58

Morning wenches.

Dreary and rainy. Usual Sunday with additional flapjacks. Must also go through DS2’s various sets of medical and dental paperwork and note what needs chasing, ie everything.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/02/2024 08:18

Morning all.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin.

<pinches a flapjack> Yum Grin

Afternoon. Nice day but next door neighbour has a bonfire in his garden for the second day running and it’s all blowing our way. DH has been round to complain. Shock

I think I was on an eco cycle with the washing machine, but I’ve found one that’s only 45 minutes. That’ll do, none of our stuff is really dirty.

Awwww at a onesie for teddy. I currently have DGS’s teddy booked in for an operation. I am just waiting for some surgical equipment kapok to arrive from the suppliers Amazon. We’re daft.

Are there any flapjacks left?

LetUsPrey · 18/02/2024 19:05

Evening wenches.

There are always flapjacks available for wenches, though these are just standard ones this week, not Biscoff. Hopefully the sugar perked Helen up.

What an arse of a neighbour Apricot. Good on MrApricot for going having words.

Awww at the teddy surgery!

Haven’t done much today. Steeling myself for Monday.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/02/2024 22:23

Evening. Lots of rain here, waterlogged/underwater garden from surface water this time rather then flood walls being breached. Le sigh. Flapjacks were nice though. Grin

Teddy (and toy surgery) is v. important stuff(ing) Grin

<cbf> at the 2-day bonfire arse.

Didn't get out anywhere exciting, but did have a walk up the road. "Take chocolate" suggested DH. Wenches, we forgot about the chocolate. I've just extracted two melted wrappers from my fleece pocket. I'm must remember not to do that again.

Morning wenches.

Grin At important stuff(ing). Whoops at the chocolates though.

Rain and rather breezy here.

DS2 is on half term this week so he has of course just got up instead of me trying to drag him out of bed at 8.30.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2024 09:30

Morning. Grey and cloudy here. We're expecting more rain later - doom.

DS is still asleep, lucky sod. I ought to do worky things...

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 19/02/2024 16:51

Afternoon. Grey and dull here too. I did a few errands and went to Lidl this morning, and this afternoon have been trying to sort out the knitting, with a cat on my lap. Hmm

Hope it hasn’t rained again Helen.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 19/02/2024 19:37

Had a lovely time at the hospital today getting a thorough examination of my rectal area with among other things a rectoscopy Confused Turns out that I need surgery so that’s another thing to look forward to. Completely exhausted so an early night for me.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2024 21:15

Oh wicked <gentle cwtch> - at least they're doing something about fixing it (silver lining?). Did they give you any timescales?

We had a bit more rain, though not a lot, and I got some washing (on the shortest/least water possible wash) mostly dried outside. The flooded flower bed is still gently lapping against the house Confused.

I have a cat on my lap just now. #inconvenient

Evening wenches.

Another gentle <cwtch> from me Wicked. Hope it’s dealt with quickly for you.

Tried something with the knitting that sort of worked but mostly didn’t but I’m not undoing it so it’ll have to do. And I don’t have a cat to blame Grin

Does that mean you’ve got a moat Helen? Ready to repel invaders!

Rather tired so I shall go to bed soon.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2024 22:12

I'm thinking of digging one LetUs Add some crennelations to the roof maybe... Grin

Morning wenches.

Mother Superior would be excellent at helping with suggestions for any defences Helen Grin

Doesn’t seem to be raining which is about the most exciting thing I can muster up to say so far today.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2024 07:42

Morning. Today's Most Exciting Thing is a drop in the water to just below ground level. Other than that it's grey and damp and uninspiring out there.

Have a good one all.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 20/02/2024 17:33

Evening. Quite a nice day. It’s so lovely to see the snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils on all the road verges round here. Smile

Oh WW, I’m so sorry you’re having a rough time and hope it will all be sorted quickly. <cwtch>

Yay for drop in water level Helen.

LetUsPrey · 20/02/2024 18:29

Evening wenches.

Hopefully the rain we had this afternoon isn’t making its way to you Helen. I believe the expression “piss wet through” best describes the state of me after walking between the office and the car park.

Today I did the work thing and tonight I shall do the knitting thing and hopefully I will later do the sleep thing.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2024 20:58

Evening. No rain yet... There has been much pumping out today - hopefully that will help the garden dry out a bit. I did see something about potential rain this evening. Hopefully not to much or (even better) none.

Other than that - worky, work work.

What you need, LetUs, is an umbrella.

Morning wenches.

Happy 10th wenchiversary!

Probably wouldn’t mind it raining with a reliable umbrella. Ahem.

Speaking of rain, plenty of it today and it’s brought its friend the wind.

Stay inside if you can wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2024 07:51

Morning all. It's grey and dreary out there, no rain yet. IdiotKitty is boooooooooooored. IntelligentCat is going to hide upstairs and keep well away from him.

Have a good day all.

ApricotCrush · 21/02/2024 16:41

Afternoon. Rain all morning but it's brightened up a bit now. I've been attempting to tackle the pile of admin today, together with a bit of knitting.

Yes, happy 10th wenchiversary. I started lurking in the March and didn't join in until May. It took me that long to catch up. In those days we were filling up a thread in a few days. Shock

Hope everywench has had a good day.
