Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Evening wenches.

Oh Helen you poor poor thing and MrHelen too. Really hope you got some help if it’s appropriate from the GP.

Sounds a good day Apricot (apart from the hand washing).

Dentist turned out to be hygienist. I can never remember which one of the two I’m due to see. Anyway she was very impressed with the flossing I’m doing very regularly (which I don’t do as often as she thinks but ssshhhhh) and my gums are in good condition and much improved.

Very tired though, just for a change.

LetUsPrey · 13/02/2024 07:25

Morning wenches.

Not dark in a morning! Looks quite chilly though.

I shall be doing pancakes tonight. That should be fun.

Have excellent days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/02/2024 07:28

Evening/Morning. I have drugs! Not that they seemed to make any difference yesterday - the cough was worse than ever yesterday afternoon/evening. Touch wood though, this morning doesn't see quite so bad.

Still very tired too <hides in hayloft with LetUs

Sunrise is in progress - purply grey clouds on the horizon and lighter fluffy jobs higher in the sky. I'm going to go back to bed once DS is off to school...

ApricotCrush · 13/02/2024 17:05

Afternoon. Raaaaaiiiin.

Well, the washing machine has been written off. Sad I'm gutted, it still looks new. The thing is, the tumble drier which matches it is cream, as is the freezer and everything else in the utility. We've been to Curry's and they now only do black, white or grey washers. We've ordered a grey one, but it won't look right and I'm not paying another £400 for a tumble drier to match it. <cries>

We've also had DGS here all day as it's half term and he's brought the noisiest films imaginable with him. I feel worn out.

I know what you mean about the hygienist LetUs. Mine keeps asking me if I'm using the little interdental brushes and I tell her I do very occasionally.

My pancakes are ready made from Sainsbury's, they'll have to do.

Hope Helen's drugs are working by now.

LetUsPrey · 13/02/2024 19:18

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for drugs Helen! Hopefully they’re having a proper effect by now.

Apricot I can relate to the disappointment re the cream coloured appliances. Went through it with mother and her cooker. <moment of silence for the passing of the washing machine>

Nasty drizzle on the way home which wasn’t fun to drive in.

DH is away tonight with work so I’ve done dinner for me and DS2, and have made pancake batter. There’s also a wash on. About to go and make the pancakes. Any minute now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/02/2024 21:37

Evening all. Drug may or may not be making a difference. Obvs I'm not massively improved. <le grumpy sigh with side order of cough>

Lots of rain going on here too.

Sympathies on the washing machine Apricot, and the destruction of your colour coordination (and the exhausting DGS).

We have had pancakes. DS managed to mostly flip one, with a bit of manual help.

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2024 07:30

Morning wenches.

We had the pancakes and they were jolly nice.

You need that most elusive of things Helen - even more so that an HBF - you need rest. But for now let’s hope the drugs do their thing.

Raining and dreary. Urgh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/02/2024 11:05

Morning, cough, splutter etc. No rain here, but def. grey and dreary. I'm working, sort of. <taps keyboard in a half-hearted way>

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 14/02/2024 16:59

Afternoon. Grey and dull here with a bit of rain thrown in for good measure.

I have mostly knitted today along with the routine stuff. The new washing machine is coming on Friday. I’ll try to hold out until then without doing any more hand washing.

Hope Helen is improving now.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 14/02/2024 17:23

Hope the drugs works and you're feeling better Helen.

Mmm, pancakes 😋

Sucks about the washing machine Apes.

Any more news about Chonk & Floof?

Can't wait for the weekend, I plan do to absolutely nothing.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/02/2024 18:53

<whispers> I might be feeling a bit better <immediate coughing fit>

LetUsPrey · 14/02/2024 20:43

Evening wenches.

Here’s to smooth delivery and installation of new washing machine on Friday Apricot. Only managed one row of knitting but it’s a lot of stitches and it’s quite a dark purple, and I think my head torch needs new batteries.

Helen <points to sick bay> what did I tell you? Are we going to have to tie you to the bed? Stop nodding!

Chonk and Floof. That sounds like a 90’s dance music act Grin

That is an excellent weekend plan Wicked.

FancyFancy · 14/02/2024 23:39

Evening. Thought I'd posted a couple of days ago <eye rolls at self>

<checks helen is properly tucked up in bed>

That is proper annoying about the washing machine apricot.

Arggh interdental brushes - I like them but must have used one too vigorously over the weekend and I've had terrible sensitivity of the tooth I had the filling replaced in recently <winces>

Chonk & Floof Grin had their complementary vet check & don't seem to have held it against me. Chonk is still being a bit attention seeking - keeps climbing on the bannisters & it's scratching them Sad I think he needs the stimulation of going outside, so I'll have to tolerate it a bit longer! (He is very sweetly lying next to me at the moment though & will now sleep on my bed ) Floof is getting more confident & can be quite snuggly at times - he snuggled up to me as I went to sleep last night.

LetUsPrey · 15/02/2024 07:26

Morning wenches.

Squeeeee at Tales of Chonk and Floof and cat snuggles! Not squeee at sensitive tooth.

Physio appointment today after work. Just as well because it was bloody sore overnight and when I woke up.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2024 12:34

Aww at Chonk and Floof settling in more and doing snuggles.

Got DS up this morning (no sunrise, everything grey and dismal), then went back to bed again. Woke up just before 12 and feel a very woolly headed rather than nicely refreshed. FFS and all that. Need to catch up with work now.

Oh, speaking of chonk, social media has been showing me pictures of the next Strike starting filming - TB looking suitably chonky in character.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 15/02/2024 16:22

Afternoon. Nice morning so I did do a bit of hand washing after all and pegged it out. It mostly dried and then got a bit rained on before I could get to it. Hmm

DH was doing some housework and the bottom dropped out of the hoover! It’s only about 40 years old but it’s much better than our other one which is about 12 years old and which I hate. It was mendable fortunately. I’m scared to touch anything for fear it will break. Grin

Love Chonk and Flook. Smile Glad they’re feeling at home.

I’ll join you with a weekend of doing nothing WW. I’m knackered with everything.

Yes, I saw the Strike pics. I don’t like him with a full beard; I don’t think he’s ageing well. <mourns Athos>

Hope the physio is able to help you LetUs.

ApricotCrush · 15/02/2024 17:51

FLOOF, not Flook! Grin

LetUsPrey · 15/02/2024 19:50

Evening wenches.

Physio asked me to walk across the treatment room. About three steps in she went “oh dear” with accompanying face. Lots of manipulation etc has helped a lot.

Urgh Helen. Not enough sleep - rubbish. Too much sleep - rubbish.

Apricot on no account go anywhere near MrApricot’s golf clubs!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/02/2024 20:49

Evening.

Oh dear LetUs - it's never good when your physio reacts like that! I've hardly done any shoulder exercises recently. I tried last night and just triggered a coughing fit Sad

I have worked, and mooched round the garden a few times. The local floodwall has been breached again and water's starting to come into the garden <rolling eyes>

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 16/02/2024 07:33

Morning wenches.

Oh Fucksake Helen at more rain and flooding. And more coughing. None of this sounds fun.

Started a small knitting project yesterday evening. My brain has realised there could be a problem with it so it very kindly woke me up just after 5 to tell me about it.

Happy Friday everywench.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2024 07:49

Morning all. How thoughtful of your brain LetUs Hmm Mine woke me up to have a coughing fit at 5:30. I was going to go back to bed for a bit once DS was off to school, but he's missed the bus, so I've got to take him in instead, then BoringOfficeJob will want me attention.

It's grey and wet silvery and bejewelled with shining water droplets outside. Hope that Apricot's washing dried indoors yesterday, unless it stayed out for extra rinse cycles - and what a pain about the hoover. (Phew for fixing it.)

I must go and do the school run. <le sigh>

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 16/02/2024 16:56

Afternoon. Quite a nice day, not cold.

Well, the washer has arrived and has been installed. I’ve done an empty wash as advised and now have some of the mountain of washing in it. I haven’t a clue what I’m doing, the old washer was all dials and buttons but this has a screen for instructions. Confused <hopes for the best>

Hope it’s stopped raining for Helen and LetUs can sort out the knitting problem that her brain identified at a ridiculous hour.

<wraps the golf clubs in bubble wrap>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/02/2024 19:33

Evening. The weather, once it stopped raining this morning, was quite pleasant. Went out of a gentle walk at lunchtime and sploshed through puddles (without falling into anything this time). Saw a local barn owl several times which is always nice. Not much else going on.

Fingers crossed for the new washing machine and not destroying any clothes apricot Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 16/02/2024 21:26

Evening wenches.

Good luck with the new washer Apricot. SIL chose LovelyMIL’s new one. It can be operated from an app on her (MIL’s) phone. Completely unnecessary as she doesn’t even text from her phone and barely has enough washing to do more than a few loads a week. But SIL chose it so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Knitting problem is sort of sorted.

Rain and drizzle all day. Urgh. Was lucky I wasn’t on a drop DS2 at college this morning as there’d been an accident and road closure about 1/4 mile from home on our way, so I ended up doing a u turn and going on a “slight” diversion.

LetUsPrey · 17/02/2024 08:04

Morning wenches.

Rather damp outside but it’s Saturday in February so I’m not that fussed. Usual household shenanigans today. How exciting.
