Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Morning all. Grey and miserable weather here. DS is still coughing away, I've had another sneezing fit. <le sigh>

I had weird dreams too LetUs - we were on a train and it couldn't go back to where we'd left the car due to rioting and then I woke up, but carried on thinking about what to do (get off train asap; stay on train and then get another to a friend's house...) which was a complete waste of mental energy.

Still, remember you're a womble, etc Grin (Orino.)co was my favourite for reasons that I don't remember any more

Afternoon. Grey and miserable here too.

The battery on DH's car has died, so he had to go out in my car to get another. He had also arranged for a gas engineer to come and have a look at the boiler, so I had to do the school run in my car and oh God, he'd altered the seat position, the mirror, everything and I can't get it all back to how I like it. <sigh>

Love the Wombles.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 30/01/2024 17:11

Still waiting for test result and medical appointment. Work is crap.

Didn't sleep that well last night, might have something to do with watching av documentary about the Hamas attack at the music festival in October, truly horrifying Sad

Feel a bit embarrassed about our Prime Minister, he posted a message on Instagram to Macron about how to behave in Sweden, it was supposed to be funny. I think it's a bit cringy. I wish Magdalena would come back, I was actually proud to call her our Prime Minister.

Sorry about the whinging.

Hope all wenches are well 😀

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/01/2024 20:48

Evening all.

We're watching Doctor Who, DS has lost his voice, and I feel lots better (DH is out).

<cwtch> for Wicked - it's all rubbish Sad and you're allowed to whinge.

FFS at MrA changing your car around Apricot - DH is buying an automatic car, so at least I wont need to adjust to reach the clutch anymore Hmm

Evening wenches.

Wellington was my favourite womble, probably because he liked reading.

Whinge (although it’s not whinging) away Wicked.

Urgh at seat and mirror positions being altered Apricot.

I’ve had quite enough of today with me and NC being given yet more work to help other departments but never ever getting anything in return. Going to bed soon.

LetUsPrey · 31/01/2024 07:41

Morning wenches.

Seems to be dry but really quite chilly. My hip, that I’ve done nothing about, is still hurting. No one but myself to blame. Muppet.

Quite like to just stay at home and sleep.

Have excellent days wenches, you deserve it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/01/2024 08:49

Morning all.

Urgh (still). You know your child is ill when they want you to stay with them while they fall asleep, and that includes being slumped against the bed at 3am because they've coughed themselves awake. Then you go back to bed, can't get to sleep, and then when you do, you wake up every time they cough - even if they don't wake up. So, urgh. #matchsticks.

LetUs - we shall send clones to work, and go back to the hayloft - yes?

Hope everywench has a good day (and MrA doesn't get in Apricot's car again!) and that Wicked gets appointments/news soon.

Fancy - send news of FancyCats - we need some 'Awww' Grin

Evening. Very cold wind and it seems to have got dark earlier today. The sky's heavy.

I've done Lidl, hoovered and knitted. That's it, and been a cat bed.

Oh poor MiniHelen, hope he's better soon.

<cwtch> for WW, and any other wench who needs it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/01/2024 18:55

Evening, it has definitely felt a bit chilly today. Hurrah for cat-water-bottles providing heating.

DS is still coughing with no voice; we suspect Laryngitis. Also, we'd forgotten that we're meant to be out tonight at a pub quiz Hmm DS insists (by typing on his phone) that he will be fine.

LetUsPrey · 31/01/2024 20:08

Evening wenches.

Oh poor MiniHelen and poor you Helen. Hope you get to go to your quiz and that MiniHelen recovers soon.

Chilly wind this morning. Got in from work and the wind was really picking up, then the rain started and by the time I was coming back from the dentist with DS2 it was almost bad enough for full speed wipers. I thought the same thing Apricot about it getting dark a lot earlier tonight.

Watching an episode of Planet Earth II. This has got locusts in it. Fecking hell they’re terrifying.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 31/01/2024 20:19

I’ve been binging ”Lewis” these last couple of weeks and really enjoyed it. I also learned that Laurence Fox seams to be a complete wackadoodle Confused Grin

LetUsPrey · 31/01/2024 20:57

I was watching one this morning Wicked before work. And yes, complete wackadoodle sums it up perfectly Grin

LetUsPrey · 01/02/2024 07:34

Morning wenches.

Dark and whatever but at least it’s stopped raining.

We got through January wenches! All 638 days of it!

Suppose I’d better get going for work
<sidles round corner to Tav craft room>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/02/2024 08:40

Morning all. We came third last night and covered out entry fee. But who knew that Autobots in transformers are the good guys? <le sigh> We should have taken DS and he could have mimed the answer to us (or, less entertainingly, written it down.)

Anyway. The sun is up, the sky is clear (ish). DS didn't wake me last night, so hopefully the cough is clearing up.

Very good assessment Wicked - much politer than I'd have described him as well Grin

638 days LetUs - surely not? I think you've miscounted. It lasted 1,731 days at least! (Or 'All 2,000 days of it', which is how I described January in a work meeting yesterday.)

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 01/02/2024 16:42

Afternoon. Not a bad day, but still rather chilly. Thank goodness January is out of the way. I can see tiny buds on the lilac outside our bedroom, the bluebells are well through the ground and I think the magnolia over the road is getting a greenish tinge, so spring won’t be too far away.

Well done with the quiz Helen, I wouldn’t have a clue about the transformers. Glad that DS seems to be improving.

FancyFancy · 01/02/2024 20:50

Evening
Agree with helen that is a polite assessment of Laurence Fox!

It has been mostly work this week, progress is slow <sighs> Did go out to a comedy gig with FancyMan earlier in the week which was marvelously funny.

Tav cats are getting bolder - well mostly BulldozerCat, who I think may actually be ChattyCat, I'm getting a running commentary this evening. He has started to get playful too which is sweet - not so sweet is his occasional picking on EvenMoreScaredyCat, who remains very shy. He is sloooooowly exploring more though and will climb on my lap & be fairly snuggly. Hoping he will be SnugglyCat. He may be KlutzCat - today he headbopped my hand a bit too solidly and spooked himself <facepalm>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/02/2024 21:30

Aww at ChattyBulldozer and ChattyEvenMoreScaredy cats.

I have spent the afternoon running about exchanging a toaster and shopping and picking up school stuff for DS (who is going back to school tomorrow, even if he can't actually speak). And I've got three new freelance jobs at once and a forth looming - argh! <flails>

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/02/2024 23:06

Morning wenches.

Squeeee at TavCats update! They sound so sweet. Perfect.

Well done on the quiz Helen. <instructs clones re the work>

Your garden <nae> sounds beautiful Apricot.

Work was shite, the evening was spent helping DS2 get some homework typed up and then I had an early night as he and DH watched The Apprentice.

Work can already get in the bin for today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2024 08:53

Morning all.

Woe is me, etc. Monday's sneezing misery was not DS's cough in a different variant. Today I have DS's cough, and just hope it won't translate to laryngitis too.

Our garden is also showing signs of spring, In fact, there's a deluded daffodil out already. Everything else is just buds, or bulbs starting to grow. (Winter honeysuckle doesn't count - it's supposed to be flowering at this time of year!)

I'd better get ready for work (accompanied by my bowl of porridge & honey - comfort eating).

<Paddington Bear Stare> at LetUs work which will have no effect at all, but it's the thought, yes?

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 02/02/2024 17:02

Afternoon. Quite a pleasant day, but overcast now.

Lovely update on FancyCats. Smile

Oh dear Helen, hope the cough doesn't turn into anything nasty.

Also hope LetUs had a not-too-bad day.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/02/2024 18:52

TFIF 🍷

LetUsPrey · 02/02/2024 21:01

Evening wenches.

Definitely the thought that counts Helen. Thank you. Here’s hoping the cough doesn’t develop. I think if I was a flower I’d be a deluded daffodil.

Couldn’t agree more Wicked Wine

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/02/2024 21:09

Evening all.

Can I just FFAS at DS? I've tried not to nag and to let him take responsibility for things he wants to do. So he's failed to register for the taster sessions at the college he wants to go to - "I'll do it later" - it's fully booked now, and he has completely missed a session of an after-school online course that he wanted to do. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Angry

Tonight we have watched The Man in the Iron Mask ('That's not my Musketeer', etc) which did eventually manage to be entertaining once it got going (about half way through). Was v. amused at the Musketeers being Irish/French/English/American and no-one bother much about the accents they spoke in. Though also baffled by some of the changes, and the rather awful saccharine sweet narration at the beginning and end. Still, it passed the evening.

Hope every wench has had a good day. We had actual sunshine, which was nice. Though still rather chilly.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 03/02/2024 09:02

Morning wenches.

You have my every sympathy re MiniHelen. Totally understand. Film sounds entertaining.

I was up late last night helping DS2 again with his college work, typing things up for him as he told me what to put. He’d have been there all night otherwise and it had to be sent in by 11.30. I’ll have to have words again about structuring time better etc etc.

Nothing much planned today. Dishes already done and a wash nearly finished. Will hopefully finish off all the doll’s clothes knitting today so that can all be handed back to niece for her school.
