Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Morning wenches.

Not sure why time seems to have sped up this morning but it has. Need to take DS2 to a nearby town but I’m keeping an eye on the traffic and it’s not kidding when it says “it’s getting worse”. Lots to do at home, which is my own fault, but at least it’s a day off.

Hope wenches haven’t got any storm damage.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2024 08:07

Morning all. No obvious storm damage here, though the bird feeder is at a very dubious angle now. I'll let DH sort that out since he'll be able to push it further into the ground than me.

Good luck with the traffic LetUs and all the tedious house stuff.

The Nit battle is still ongoing here. I think I actually combed out a couple of the little sods last night, so that will help matters considerably. I'm also a bit Hmm as to whether I'm combing out nits or dandruff at times. It's all very tedious.

ApricotCrush · 22/01/2024 16:48

Afternoon. No storm damage here, but the pampas is all over the garden. Hmm

Sympathies with the nits Helen. The treatment is probably better now, but I found that the bodies came out with the nit comb, but the dead eggs are glued to the hair, didn’t wash out and the comb wasn’t fine enough. It’s easier with boys because you can just have their hair cut short, but DD had long hair and didn’t want it cut, so we used to have hour long sessions every afternoon and I stripped them out with my nails (gross I know). 🤢 I found it very therapeutic and DD found it relaxing. It took ages.

Hope the traffic wasn’t too bad LetUs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2024 19:32

Evening. I went out today and the was a twiggy branch in the road Shock. So we are still fine re. storm damage. I even got washing mostly dry on the line without it being blown off. (Then it started to rain so I brought it in again.)

That's been my day. Not v. rock and roll Hmm and no HBFs.

Evening wenches.

Can’t see any damage here but the winds have been at it all afternoon and evening.

Took about 50 minutes to drive in this morning, and less than 25 to come back home the day way straight away. Pick up went smoothly. He seems to have had a good day from what little information I’ve been able to drag out of him.

Don’t recall either DC ever having nits which was extremely lucky. Is the comb the zappy thing?

Other than house stuff and lifts, I’ve done some knitting. Also made some Biscoff flapjacks <wafts smell of flapjacks around Tav>

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 22/01/2024 20:51

It’s very windy here, fingers crossed that there won’t be a power cut or something 😱

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2024 22:09

The comb is not a zappy thing, it's a NittyGritty. I'm thinking of trying him on a different treatment. I don't know. <le sigh>

Did you have a tail wind coming home then? Grin Glad that DS2 seems to have had a good day.

Morning wenches.

<restocks candles in case of power cut> Hope everything’s okay for all wenches. Another storm arriving today. We’ll be at the end of the alphabet before the end of February at this rate.

Perhaps that was it Helen Grin

Gosh today already feels like it’s going to be a tricky one <hides in wing back chair in Tav library>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/01/2024 07:49

<wanders down from hayloft>
No LetUs? She must have left already.

Afternoon. Windy and wet here but warmer when I put the dustbin out earlier.

I’m not happy with the knitting. It’s either get a lot of it undone or Plan B it. <sigh>

Hope everyone’s had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 23/01/2024 20:02

Evening wenches.

<peers round corner of chair>

Blimey it’s a bit breezy. Surprisingly warmer than I expected too though.

Would it be a lot to undo Apricot?

Work can get in the bin but we all know that.

FancyFancy · 23/01/2024 23:45

Evening
Had an extra long weekend which was pleasant - DD was here for a couple of days to see the new Tav cats. Much puzzling was done, and bribery of the kitties with food. Still not decided on Tav names - thinking of BulldozerCat for one, but at a loss for the other as yet as he's so quiet and it's hard to tell his personality. EvenMoreScaredyCat feels a bit rude & is a bit long!

Glad wenches haven't been blown away, it is blustery out there

LetUsPrey · 24/01/2024 07:28

Morning wenches.

BulldozerCar - excellent. TheCatWithNoName could wear a little Clint Eastwood style hat. Obviously not a poncho because that would just be silly.

Still very windy here. Too dark to see if there’s anything blown down.

Short day but stuff to do on the way home.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/01/2024 07:50

Morning wenches. Was out visiting a friend last night - nibbles and board games and fun was had. No sunrise here yet - or nothing with colour. Yesterday's was a bit undecided a bit of faint pinky lilac, then grey again, then eventually the sun rose all hazy yellow. Today may be similar once it gets going.

Thta sounds like a very nice weekend Fancy. TS Eliot had a lot to say on the Naming of Cats... nothing wrong with recycling ScaredyCat - IntelligentCat used to be StupidCat, until IntelligentCat popped his clogs, and because KillerKitty is an idiot all things are relative, StupidCat is now IntelligentCat. Wenches could knit a poncho for CatWithNoName Grin

I have to go out into the blusteryness...

Have a good day all, and hope that the knitting issue gets resolved with minimum inconvenience Apricot.

ApricotCrush · 24/01/2024 17:20

Afternoon. Very windy in the night but quite a nice day.

I’ve undone the knitting, (45 rows by 104 stitches) and have re-knitted quite a bit of it. I had to do it straight away otherwise I would have just put it away and forgotten it.

That sounds like a lovely long weekend Fancy.

Grin at names for cats and suitable clothing.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/01/2024 21:19

Evening all.

Ouch Apricot - that's an annoyingly large amount to unpick Sad

Work was workish, not much else going on.

LetUsPrey · 24/01/2024 22:05

Evening wenches.

Work was quite stressful so let’s ignore that.

Love the sound of that evening Helen.

That’s a lot of knitting Apricot! Am impressed by your determination in redoing it.

I should stop watching tv and go to bed.

FancyFancy · 24/01/2024 22:12

That is very dedicated apricot

Work. Hmmm. Would be easier if other people would actually do their bloody jobs - mind you, a mistake I'd missed was pointed out to me today, so I should count myself in that 😳

Still undecided on Tav names - BulldozerCat is still a front runner, but he may be ShoutyCat instead as he likes to squawk at me when I'm not making a fuss of him. NamelessCat looked exceptionally floofy today - anyone remember the episode of The Pink Panther when he put himself through the laundry and emerged from the dryer? Yep, like that.

Grin at floofy cat being the Pink Panther Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/01/2024 07:28

Morning wenches.

Loving floofy Pink Panther Grin I somehow feel your one mistake pales next to the ongoing issues with colleagues Fancy.

Rainy (I think) and dark here. Not slept hugely well so not exactly set up for the day (when am I ever).

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/01/2024 07:47

Morning all.

Oh dear - I came down to a small puff of feathers this morning. I have stealthily hoovered them up before DH sees them.

Sunrise committed itself to pink highlights this morning - very pretty, but it's all faded to grey now. I was up far too late last night reading a book, so now I'm tired and it's 100% self inflicted - apart from the bit where I was woken up by DH snoring.

Here's to a better day at work for everyone.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 25/01/2024 16:18

Afternoon. Grey and miserable here.

Nothing much going on, school run, Sainsbury’s, posting a parcel, knitting, that’s it really.

Bad KillerKitty. Sad

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/01/2024 19:17

Evening all. We've been to parents evening. DS doing well, but ought to revise more. DS nodded a lot at his teachers - he glares at us and huffs if we suggest that sort of thing Grin

Weather has been miserable - cloudy, drizzly, generally unappealing. Today's mystery was 'what on earth has happened to DM's knitting patterns?' It remains unsolved, though I had some suggestions where DF could look, and resulted in me doing some hoovering for him while I was trying to find them. That's more hoovering that our house has seen this week!

Raaaaaiiinnnnnn. Worrrrrrrkkkkk. Raaaiiiinnnnnnnn.

Oh KillerKitty that’s a bit naughty.

We’re watching some Ghosts series 3 Grin
