Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Is that the Nitty Gritty nit comb Helen? I had to get one of those. God nits were a pain. The not shampoo irritated my scalp so I'd be itching for ages, wondering if it was the shampoo or whether the kids had passed the nits to me. Happy days 🙄

In cat news, they are very shy and are being kept in the utility room for a while while they familiarise themselves with us. Poor things have barely come out of the cardboard box bed, so we have mostly left them in peace. They aren't hissing at us, so that's good!

Morning all. I was going to say that there was no interesting sunrise today, but apparently I was too early for it, since the horizon is blazing orange now.

Idiot Kitty is disgusted with his food this morning. Someone ate all of what was left out overnight though (the same flavour of NotThatMuck) and the older stuff that was left out to take down to the chickens . I'm not convinced that we don't have another cat coming in, especially since the cat flap was knocked couple of nights ago when both cats were in. Oh well.

In other news Friday is the 10th anniversary of S1Ep1. where has time gone?!

New Tav cats (hard to give them their MN names until they show their personalities a bit!) are still hiding in their beds, but overnight food was eaten, litter trays used and there was evidence of them having had a little explore of the room, so positive steps.

It's sunny and frosty here so hoping for a walk with FancyMan later.

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day, but cold and we awoke to a layer of snow, but it’s mostly gone now.

Yaaaaaaaay for cats, they’re gorgeous. They’ll soon be exploring their new territory.

Rarely have I walked as quickly as I did this morning when I’m going towards the office from the car park. Flipping parky.

I remember finding a random cat sitting on the stairs when I got up one morning. My cat at the time clearly wasn’t fussed. LetUsCat however did not tolerate other cats coming in when we had a cat flap that didn’t lock. That’s when he spotted that one might be trying to get in

It has been COLD. (Nowhere near Wicked's scale of cold though, obvs.) We had some snow too, but it didn't settle.

We have snow which has stuck. And it’s snowing. I don’t recall agreeing to this.

DS2 sprung it on me last night that he needs a lift to and from a different town next Monday for a college thing. No way I can drop him off and get to work on time and it also finishes at 3. Buses are a no. Guess I’m booking a day’s leave then.

I haven’t slept very well so I’m not really up for today. Blah blah whinge whinge.

Morning. Blue skies and cold (-1 according to the car) so lots of ice but no snow. I have done exercisey things, but just feel a bit tired now, rather than energised, and I need to crack on with work and life-admin stuff.

Nothing much done today, I've been sorting the photos from Christmas. I'm not happy with the knitting and some undoing may be necessary.

The temperature goes up and down here, it's been warmer for a while but now it's getting colder again, -16 at the moment. So sick of this winter. Not looking forward to the electricity bill

Did a mammogram today, didn't realise it also involved a biopsy, so that was a nice surprise, they're just making sure that nothing has changed.

Regarding my other problems I'm planned to get an appointment within three months, I guess they don't think it's urgent.

And also work really sucks.

Two hours to get to work this morning. Two fucking hours. Lots of snow (by our standards here) which thankfully has cleared from the main roads now.

DS2 obviously decided that telling me about a trip to different town wasn’t enough. There’s also a trip to a venue in BigCity. And they’ve to make their own way there. It would mean bus and train each way. He has no experience of doing this and I can tell he’s having a panic but trying to hide it (so am I tbh). No way I can take that day too just to do this one journey with him as there’s already lots of others on leave that day.

LetUs - can you do a practise run with DS at the weekend so he's got more confidence? Does DS1 fancy a day off/out in BigCity?

DS seems to be racking up open days/interviews/extra-curricular courses etc at an alarming rate of knots. Will need to get on top of the diary asap.

I’m sure there weren’t so many trips/appointments when our two were at school/college, but maybe I’ve just forgotten. Hope you can get it sorted at the weekend LetUs.

Re the knitting. I’m using a self stripe yarn and I can’t bear it if the stripes aren’t alligned on the front and the back. It doesn’t help that I’m using two strands as it’s quite a thin yarn. This gives a lovely ombre effect, but it’s not easy to get the pieces roughly the same. I swore after the last time that I wouldn’t do it again, but here I am…

Have been working at home today, with hindsight I should have gone in tomorrow & stayed at home tomorrow as it's forecast to be even colder then.

New Tav Cats suddenly decided I wasn't too bad yesterday evening - after I'd cleared their litter trays! They both enjoyed a bit of a fuss & were very sweet. they still jump at all noises or any movement faster than slo-mo, but it's a big improvement so fingers crossed.

Fingers crossed for you too ww, that's a lot on your plate health-wise.

Good idea to speak to the college letus, sounds like a little more support would be a good thing - even if it's just more notice to help you all plan solutions!

Windscreen cover would help a lot I suspect. I’ll put it on the list of things I’ll never get round to buying or doing because muppet.

Morning all. cold and icy here too. I didn't put the windscreen cover on last night because I don't need the car today until later. Then it was so cold that I decided to give DS a lift to the bus stop, to avoid the standing about in the cold, rather than the walk there. This is the way of windscreen covers. Also, when you take them off they bring damp into the car and it steams up inside (unless you leave them at home when you take them off). There's no winning.

Can recommend deicer spray, is da shit 😀

Good that FancyCats are settling in. Misty is still very jumpy with noises she’s not familiar with after nearly two years but we don’t know her history.
