Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Brrr! Hope you've stayed warm Wicked.

I've been out digging up the last of the brambles, and then digging couch grass out of a bed that hasn't been touched for a couple of years Blush The Chickens were very grateful for the fresh ground to scratch over, as were the garden birds. Killer Kitty was also interested for reasons of feathery edible toys (and probably the toilet) Hmm

Afternoon. Nice day. I did a wash load but didn’t attempt to dry it outside so it’s draped over the radiators. My hair needs washing too but I can’t be bothered.

We finished the clearing up this morning and everything is now put away.

That’s horrendous WW. Hope it warms up soon.

FancyFancy · 06/01/2024 19:26

Evening

Looks like I will have to identify as catholic then <eyes still-up decorations> Grin

Went out for dinner with a friend yesterday evening which was lovely. Have been stupendously lazy today - did manage to get into town for fresh food & new contact lenses and have done a small amount of work that I needed to catch up on after taking time out for the dentist. Haven't caught up yet but need to pause to take down the decorations! Tooth seems ok thanks, gums are a bit inflamed around the tooth which the dentist did say was going to be the case for a few days, so fingers crossed that settles down soon.

LetUsPrey · 06/01/2024 21:46

Evening wenches.

Decorations and everything done and away. House cleaned and it looks so much better.

Didn’t attempt to put the washing outside. Hope yours dried Helen.

-20 Wicked?! I suggest staying indoors and burying under many layers.

Other than washing and cleaning, I have knitted.

We’re watching the Christmas Day Doctor Who.

LetUsPrey · 07/01/2024 09:05

Morning wenches.

Didn’t see you all there yesterday evening!

That sounds very productive Helen.

You’ll still look as glamorous as ever Apricot whether you’ve washed your hair or not.

Grin Fancy. Also loving “stupendously lazy”. Hope tooth’s okay.

Usual Sunday - washing, ironing, visiting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/01/2024 10:09

Morning all. It's all dull and grey outside, and damp. meh.

I ought to do more digging but I can't go outside because there is a queue of blackbirds waiting to get on to the feeder, and it wouldn't be right to interrupt their feeding. Grin Fantastic excuse. I also can't get off the sofa because they'd see me moving through the window and be scared off. <settles in for the duration>

Hope that the tooth settles down soon Fancy, and that Wicked is hibernating under a duvet.

(The washing got slightly less damp yesterday, but had to be draped over the airers indoor to dry.)

Afternoon. Dull and cloudy here. We’ve had DS’s DC here all day. DGD has been revising for something but DGS2 is a bit of a nightmare.

Grin at Fancy identifying as catholic because of the decorations.

I’ll now do a bit of knitting although Misty has pinched my spot on the chaise. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 07/01/2024 18:53

Evening wenches.

I think I just nodded off in the bath. No chance of sliding under the water and let’s face it I generally get disturbed when I’m in there.

I have also knitted.

DS2 is back at college tomorrow so he’s obviously started his homework this afternoon.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/01/2024 19:32

Evening.

I quite like bath snoozes, though I usually got from there into bed and carry on sleeping. I'm not sure how well I'd manage with having to wake up properly again!

Gardening/digging had been happening again here, complete with 'helpful' chickens underfoot. It's been chilly outside today, and generally a bit dank and dismal.

DS is meant to be doing homework. Hmm <side-eyes at DS not doing homework>

Morning wenches.

Hope it’s warmed up for you Wicked. Quite cold enough here, and dark and bleurgh.

How kind of the chickens to help you Helen Grin

I must get a move on. Don’t particularly want to.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/01/2024 09:22

Urgh. Morning wenches. It's one of those days already. Had to take DS to school, then take my car to the garage (DH was not up and ready to follow behind/pick me up when I got back from the school run <cbf>) Also need to pick up car later, do supermarket shop, pick up DS, and then take him out to after school club... the saving grace is that I'm meant to be meeting a friend for a quick catch-up while DS is doing the club. But the day feels like one long slog already.

Afternoon. Miserable day and colder.

DGS has had his cast removed from his wrist/arm and they’re happy with how it’s healed, so that’s good.

That does sound rather hectic Helen, hope you enjoyed your catch-up with your friend.

Hope LetUsDS2’s day back at college has gone well.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/01/2024 20:57

Evening.

Yes to cold and yes to miserable. On the plus side, all the to-ing and fro-ing has got stuff done - car fixed, septic tank emptied, etc. etc. And the catch-up was brief but fun.

Good news re DGS arm apricot

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

FancyFancy · 08/01/2024 23:17

Evening

Well that turned cold today - not as cold as it has been for ww <feels pathetic>

In better news, the TfL strike is off, so I can catch the train to work tomorrow - hurrah!

There is a new spin-off series of Money Heist that DD & I have started watching, one of the actors is quite hot, if rather young for me. I'd post a pic but he looks even younger in the ones I found Shock

LetUsPrey · 09/01/2024 07:33

Morning wenches.

Good news re DGS’s arm Apricot.

Booooo to rushing hither and thither and people not being ready to help. But hurrah for cancelled strikes and finding new <ahem> interesting programmes to watch.

Spent all yesterday evening sewing up the knitting I’d done. Took way longer than anticipated and I could barely see straight when I’d finished.

Quite relieved DS2 is back at college and into a routine.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2024 11:00

Morning all. Bright and sunny today which is a relief. More 'life admin' going on today, but for now I'm just chugging away at spreadsheets on my computer .

Hurrah for sewing up LetUs.

ApricotCrush · 09/01/2024 18:25

Afternoon. Lovely sunny day but very cold. We’re back on the school run and I picked up a few things while DH collected DGS.

Apart from that I have done a bit of admin and knitted.

Yay for fixed car etc., strike finishing and sewn up knitting. Hope everyone has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 09/01/2024 20:10

Evening wenches.

Knitted items have been delivered and met with much appreciation.

Fairly chilly but the wind made it much colder. Hope things have warmed up for Wicked.

DH is watching the football. Thrillz.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2024 20:12

Evening all. Yes, bloody cold. Though the washing got mostly dry on the line, and much work has been done.

LetUsPrey · 10/01/2024 07:09

Morning wenches.

Seems to be extra dark this morning. Is like middle of the night dark.

DS2 has an early start today as he has an exam. DH is off today and he’s going to attempt the fix the kitchen tap. I obviously have confidence in them both.

Today I will definitely phone the physio.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/01/2024 08:14

<runs in>
<flails>
<runs out to work>

Have a good day all. LetUs - PHONE THE PHYSIO!!!

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 10/01/2024 16:40

Afternoon. Dark and cold and pretty miserable here.

Nothing to report, just the usual boring day.

Hope the exam and the tap fix went well.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/01/2024 17:02

Is it Friday yet? Confused

LetUsPrey · 10/01/2024 20:34

Evening wenches.

Boring ChezApricot means uneventful and therefore an absolute bonus.

Sadly not Wicked. Almost, but not quite.

I did not in fact phone the physio.

I have been to work, come home, did housey stuff and then knitted.

Will have an early night because I’m yawning my head off.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/01/2024 23:16

Evening all. Nothing exciting to report. DS has brought indestructable nits home from school - le ENORMOUS sigh. Though it turned out that the treatment I had been using on him was out of date, so I will buy a fresh bottle tomorrow. It's making me itch just thinking about it Sad.

Hope that tap and exam went well LetUs, hurrah for uneventful days apricot. Yes Wicked, it's absolutely Friday. <locks Wicked in cupboard with Kylo> Nope - she's not here.
