Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Still waiting for those HBF's Helen Grin

My very traditional Christmas so far consists of work between 7-12, then char (?) for lunch with chocolate mousse for dessert and then some apple glögg and a saffron bun in front of the telly. I have a turkey in the oven at the moment, so I will have food for weeks to come Confused Currently watching "Emily" on the telly and it's an ok movie.

Will visit mum tomorrow and we will look for Christmas decoration bargains. Then lunch and exchanging of gifts.

I done that towel thingy also Apes used to work quite well with Corinne but she was a tiny bit of fluff but Fräsan is an absolute beast Confused She's asleep in "my" spot on the couch at the moment, looking so innocent ❤

Hope all wenches have a lovely day and a wonderful Christmas tomorrow 🎅

LetUsPrey · 24/12/2023 17:45

Evening wenches.

That sounds very like every big family trip we ever make Helen. If there’s not someone getting in the car saying “I might as well not come then”, is it even a proper family trip? Hope you got everything sorted and got away in time.

Sounds a lovely day Wicked (except for working). Like the sound of apple glögg. Have a super day tomorrow.

Usual Sunday with additional Christmas preparation activity today. Went wrong with my knitting which I tried to salvage but I couldn’t. Wasn’t a great deal but still annoying.

Christmas film tonight of DH’s choosing.

ApricotCrush · 24/12/2023 17:49

Happy Christmas Eve wenches.

That all sounds lovely WW.

Hope Helen’s journey wasn’t too stressful, MrLetUs wasn’t too annoying and Fancy is alright.

We’re at DD’s tomorrow and then here on Boxing Day.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/12/2023 19:51

Just got invited to New Years Eve by nice landladies, they’re so nice 😍

FancyFancy · 24/12/2023 22:56

Happy Xmas Eve everyone, today went pretty well considering, thanks. Currently drinking, snacking and playing games.

Hoping Helen hasn't been washed away and that Misty hasn't shredded anyone else.

What was the film letus?

I baked a large gingerbread ww <drools>

LetUsPrey · 25/12/2023 08:22

Morning wenches and HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Hurrah for ace landladies and spending Christmas with family and drinking, snacking and playing games!

The film was The Heist Before Christmas. I went for a bath.

Just waiting for everyone else to get up. Have excellent days wenches.

ApricotCrush · 25/12/2023 11:34

🎄Happy Christmas wenches🎄

Hope you all have a lovely day! 🥂

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/12/2023 18:47

Evening all. It's a rather damp and dismal Xmas, but all has gone well so far, though DS is being rather teenagery Confused

I enjoyed Emily Wicked - that's the Bronte one with TM Queeny as Anne, yes?

We have just started doing a crossword, must pay attention and be sociable again.

Hope that everyone is having a lovely day!

Evening wenches.

Today I am grateful for stretchy jeans because they are very much needed after that delicious dinner. Visiting has been done, presents have been exchanged, parents and uncle turned up at least 15 minutes early as expected Grin

I’m on my third, possibly fourth vodka, and we’re watching Morecambe and Wise.

Hope all wenches have had the Christmas they wanted and have had the happiest of days.

LetUsPrey · 26/12/2023 07:41

Morning wenches.

Still very dark here but the evenings are already getting lighter. Hurrah!

Tidying and not much else today, then family party this afternoon but I have to bear in mind I’m back in work tomorrow.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/12/2023 09:39

Morning wenches. Hope that everyone had a good day yesterday.

Urgh to 'back to work tomorrow' LetUs. I wish I could magic up new jobs and lovely workplaces for you and NiceColleague (or even the same workplace without the twats).

We have some blue sky and sunshine here, it's a lovely change. We will be having a family meal and not doing much again today. I might try to suggest a game of cards, of some sort.

Morning wenches, hope you’re all having a lovely time.

Our dramas continue. Yesterday DH realised he’d forgotten to collect his prescription from the chemist and he had no tablets, so before going to DD’s we went in search of the only chemist open in town. He pulled up to check directions, in the process kerbing his wheel and taking a chunk out of the tyre. Shock The chemist wouldn’t give him an emergency supply without a prescription, so he had to phone 111 and get them to send one electronically. This took ages, but worked in the end. Hurrah!

When we came home we laid the table for today and half an hour later heard a crash in the dining room. For some reason a picture over the fireplace had fallen down onto the hearth taking with it a clock and a vase. Shock

Anyway, we carry on and DS is currently Gordon Ramsaying in the kitchen while I try to work round him. It will all be fiiiiiine.

Have a good day all.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/12/2023 16:26

Oh my goodness Apricot Shock what a catalogue of stuff!

DH also forgot some medicine, but we could get an over the counter 'it will do' substitute from a corner shop. Honestly, you'd think they'd be more organised about medication.

It's been a remarkably nice day here - no rain, and not baltic cold.

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 26/12/2023 21:14

Evening wenches.

No rain forecast so it tipped it down all afternoon. House put back straight after yesterday.

Flipping heck Apricot. Perhaps there’s a massive stroke of good luck heading your way to balance it all out.

That sounds like you’d need some epic magic levels to conjure that up Helen.

Family party this afternoon and evening went well and I had epic baby cuddles Smile Tired now but I’ll watch a bit of tv first.

LetUsPrey · 27/12/2023 07:41

Morning wenches.

Back to work but at least the roads should be a bit quieter than usual. And it’s a short day so whoop for that.

Best get on with breakfast.

Have super days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/12/2023 09:28

Morning. Daaaaaaark and gloomy and much rain forecast today, which will make for a lovely drive home Confused Will be nice to be back home to our own comfy beds and idiot cats though.

Hope you have a decent day at work LetUs (and anyone else who is back to work - hopefully Fancy is also having a break between Christmas and new year.)

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 27/12/2023 14:35

Afternoon. Horrible day, dark, rain, wind, cold, but I don’t mind as we’re on the right side now.

Well, dinner was for 9 yesterday and it all went well, but I swear I’m not doing it again, although I’ve been saying that for years. Hmm DH now has a cold and feels rotten. I think he’s caught it off DGS who has been coughing all week.

Hope work hasn’t been too bad for LetUs and Helen is safely back home.

FancyFancy · 27/12/2023 17:34

At Dd's work waiting for her - we are going to watch a film together.

Christmas went surprisingly well thanks, little drama and parents seem to have enjoyed themselves which was good. Got home yesterday and saw FancyMan which was lovely. Now for a few days with DD, then DS arriving, so more booze and food!

Hope work wasn't too worry for those already back and that those not working that you are able to relax and avoid any further trials <looks at MrA> 😁

LetUsPrey · 27/12/2023 19:54

Evening wenches.

Work was much busier than expected which was just rude. Traffic was quiet though which was nice.

Hope the journey home was okay Helen and you’re back with the cats who I’m sure have missed you terribly as only cats do.

Here’s hoping the cold doesn’t make its way to you Apricot. <increases stocks of vitamin C>

That sounds like a very full but enjoyable few days Fancy. Pleased there was little drama. Enjoy your film with DD.

DSis has given me a lot of her knitting patterns including the ones that belonged to our grandma. Just spent an enjoyable time organising them into plastic wallets and files.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/12/2023 22:22

Evening all. We got home after a journey whose conversations went along the lines of:
"We'll take this road, it's all looking... oh. OK, well if we go... no, um, Well.. no. Er... No. Um. Ok, this way there's only a small traffic jam and then, not NOT that road. This one - I know there's a jam, but it's the smallest one. Just go here and then follow the road." It took and hour and a half longer to get home than it took to go to ILs.

Still, we are home and the cats haven't killed each other, so all is well. I'm glad that everyone is having a good time, other than MrA's cold. Was it a good film Fancy?

LetUsPrey · 28/12/2023 07:48

Morning wenches.

The frustration of a much longer than expected journey but home now Helen. Hope you got a decent sleep after all that.

I really must phone the physio and see if she’s got any evening appointments. She doesn’t seem to put them on her website.

Dark and breezy, quite possibly raining. Lovely days to all wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/12/2023 10:45

Morning. It seems to be dry and a bit sunny (or there's sun somewhere behind the high cloud). It's not dark and gloomy anyway. The house is carnage (we finished opening presents yesterday), so today will mostly be tidying and nagging DS to send out 'thank you's.

Idiot Kitty is refusing to eat any of the muck we're offering him, but obviously not off his food because he's brought a furry squeaky toy in to eat (and been turfed back outside with it).

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 28/12/2023 15:38

Soooooo tired 😴

Grin at Gordon Ramsaying in the kitchen Apes

Started coughing and feeling a bit crappy, hope it doesn't last.

Hope all are having a good day.

ApricotCrush · 28/12/2023 16:48

Afternoon. We've had the lot in the last 24 hours, sun, rain, wind, sleet, even thunder and lightning last night (thought of you Fancy) followed by hail. It seems to have calmed down now.

I've been doing sod all today.

I love the old knitting patterns LetUs, I look at them for ideas.

Grin at IdiotKitty's furry squeaky toy.

Hope it doen't come to anything WW.

LetUsPrey · 28/12/2023 20:23

Evening wenches.

<throws vitamin C at Wicked too> hope you’re feeling okay.

We’ve had similar to you Apricot today but without the thunder and lightning. The old patterns are ace - some epic hair and make up on the women’s 1980s patterns, and some proper stern looking babies on the 1950s/1960s ones Grin

IdiotKitty expressing his culinary wishes. No, IdiotKitty, no.

Work was unacceptably busy again.
