Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Evening wenches.

Rain and the wind’s really starting to get going. Work can get in the fucking bastard bin. Two more days.

Excellent work on getting the picture hung Helen.

Oh Apricot that’s another day and a half for you. I hate having to do the facial recognition thing because I look so very very old and grey. As for MrApricot setting off for the fire alarm, oh dear. Hope Misty responds favourably to the new medication.

LetUsPrey · 20/12/2023 07:18

Morning wenches.

Short day today and then one day tomorrow and then off for Christmas! Shouldn’t wish the time away but it can slow down again once I’m home tomorrow evening.

Winds getting very blustery now. And daaarrrkkkk. Stay in the Tav wenches.

FancyFancy · 20/12/2023 13:24

Afternoon
Making slow progress wrapping presents, but did manage a grocery shop yesterday evening, with a follow up on the way to work for a couple of items that were out of stock yesterday. More wrapping tonight, and hopefully some ironing or it's going to be a wrinkly Christmas Grin

Fingers crossed that these antibiotics work for Misty, and 😳for MrA and the alarm!

ApricotCrush · 20/12/2023 16:20

Afternoon. Reasonable day, but nearly daaaarrk already.

Nightmare giving Misty her antibiotics last night, but a bit better this morning. We’re learning with the help of YouTube. Grin

I’ve done a food shop and DS has done one too so between us we’ve got most of it. He’s a very good food shopper, unlike his father who has never done one in his life. Hmm Only last minute bits to get now.

The school pick-up apparently went without incident today.

Lol at wrinkly Christmas.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/12/2023 18:03

Evening. Honestly, I keep thinking I've posted but have been interrupted, and not.

Absolute LOL at MrA setting off the fire alarm, though also Blush and phew at an uneventful pick-up today. Glad to hear that dosing Misty is improving.

It was last day at school for DS - except the bus went straight past without stopping, so I had to run him in then go straight to the physio for a new set of exercises.

And now I'm going to post a half-written post, because I need to pop out with DH, and the laptop will lose it if I leave it hanging...

Back again Grin

I ordered the Xmas pudding online. It has arrived. Apparently I've ordered a Christmas pudding for one. FML, will have to sort that out. I also need to wrap more stuff. <wilts> Maybe tomorrow.

<cwtch> re work LetUs, at LOL at the wrinkled Xmas. Mine will be crumpled a a matter of course.

LetUsPrey · 20/12/2023 20:22

Evening wenches.

Wrinkly Christmas - are we back on facial recognition (me not you Fancy) Grin

Well done on administering the antibiotics Apricot without loss of limb.

Hope you’re keeping up better with your exercises than I did Helen. Must phone my physio to see if she’s got any evening appointments at any time.

I did the work thing, then the housework/washing thing, then the wrapping presents thing. Still quite a few to do but I’ve impressed myself with how many I’ve done.

LetUsPrey · 21/12/2023 07:19

Morning wenches.

Guess who’s awake and up and about now that he’s finished college for Christmas 🙄

It’s a bit flipping windy here. It’s bin day so people had put their bins out last night. There’s bins over and rubbish blowing everywhere. Can’t say that I’m looking forward to the drive to work today.

Last day though so hurrah for that!

FancyFancy · 21/12/2023 13:08

Afternoon
Last work day here too - managed a few more presents last night & some Christmas baking and even a bit of ironing, so feeling a bit more prepared. More of the same tonight, apart from the baking.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/12/2023 17:16

Five days off in a row now (except a bit of work on Christmas Eve). We're expecting a loft of snow so that's something to look forward to Hmm

Hope everything is going well with Misty❤

Grin at MrApes, sounds like something I would do.

What did you bake Fancy?

Christmas pudding for one? Is it really tiny Helen?

Yay for last day at work Letus 🍷

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/12/2023 18:03

FMforgetting to post. This morning was because I had a lie-in and then get straight to work.

This afternoon I nipped out with DH for another medical appointment, and my car started juddering and smelling hot part way there, so I had to stop and get the AA out, and tapped up wonderful relatives to give DH a lift. FFS and all that. The AA kicked my car for me and I limped it home on a promise to take it to the garage before driving anywhere else (one of the breaks was binding on). Our local garage is taking bookings for march next year 😱

Xmas pud was 227g Wicked Barely a mouthful!

Also v. windy here.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 21/12/2023 18:39

Evening. It’s a tad windy here too.

I’ve done a final shop and that’s it, I’m not doing any more.

Well done to everyone for their wrapping, baking, housework, ironing etc. but a shame about the Christmas pudding for one. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 21/12/2023 20:54

Evening wenches.

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (until next Wednesday)

You’ve reminded me I need to factor in baking three batches of flapjacks tomorrow Fancy, two of them are Biscoff, one plain. Also collecting a prescription, and wrapping the rest of the presents. And knitting.

Oh crap re car Helen. Hope you get it looked at sooner than March.

Very very windy today and lots of rain, but not snow so there’s that. Hope it doesn’t get too bad for you Wicked.

LetUsPrey · 22/12/2023 07:30

Morning wenches.

Going to try to get as much done this morning as early as possible so I can relax this afternoon. Let’s see how that goes.

Still very very windy here.

ApricotCrush · 22/12/2023 16:14

Afternoon. Still windy here too.

I missed posts yesterday <reminds self to refresh page before posting>. That’s awful about your car Helen. I dread something like that happening. Hope you’re able to sort it before March. Shock

Also hope you don’t get too much snow WW.

Misty seems to be improving <fingers crossed>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/12/2023 17:55

Evening all. Hurrah and fingers crossed for Misty improving, and for finishing up with work and baking.

Today has been dishwasher delivery and taxi-ing day. Though DH has tried and succeeded with driving, so hurrah! Lovely local garage are squeezing my car in at the new year, so I don't need to phone around. Otherwise, rainy, windy, floody weather. We're out to a pub quiz tonight and I just want to sleeeeeeeeeeep. Also Amazon could not (be bothered to) deliver the new xmas pud Angry

KillerKitty keeps bringing a mouse in (need to block off the catflap) and I have incinerated a pizza. Woe....

Wicked - we'll send HBFs to assist you <tae> in case you're snowed in.

LetUsPrey · 22/12/2023 21:12

Evening wenches.

Rather tired. Lots of washing up, lots of baking, collected prescription in the middle of it, wrapped presents but ran out of steam a bit after lunch. Still got some presents to wrap. Almost finished next knitted item but I’m thinking I’ll mess it up if I carry on with it tonight.

Good news re Misty. Hope it continues.

Good driving and car news Helen. Less good news re mouse and incinerated pizza. Good luck with quiz/hope it went well.

Think I’ll go to bed soon.

LetUsPrey · 23/12/2023 07:48

Morning wenches.

Dark as per usual. Quite possibly still raining. Hope you’re not too flooded Helen.

Today I must finish wrapping, finish sewing up knitting, do lots of other stuff that I honestly can’t be arsed with.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/12/2023 11:10

Morning. I feel your pain LetUs - we have much wrapping etc to do as well. And a similar level (lack) of enthusiam.

Flooding is significant, but not as high as it got at it worst. I'm kind of 'meh' and mildly irritated, rather than worried now.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 23/12/2023 16:31

Afternoon. Nice day, quite mild.

Misty shredded DH’s arm last night giving her the antibiotics, so this morning I tried wrapping her in a towel as per a YouTube video. Bloody nightmare, she turns into a wild animal. Grin Still, we’re a little over half way there. I don’t know why she makes such a fuss, it smells and tastes lovely.

That’s a pain about the flooding Helen but good news about the car.

Hope everyone has got everything they wanted done.

We’re going out for a meal later with friends.

LetUsPrey · 23/12/2023 19:03

Evening wenches.

Fucksake at yet more flooding Helen.

Ouch for MrApricot. I recall the towel wrapping attempt with LetUsCat. Similar outcome. Enjoy your evening.

Everything is wrapped. Or I thought it was when I came downstairs and saw another gift in the kitchen. I’ll do that one tomorrow. Have done some knitting too and other house stuff.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/12/2023 20:00

Evening all. I hope everything is wrapped too LetUs. Now we just have to remember to take stuff with us when we visit in-laws, etc! (Must also remember to transfer Xmas money to godchildren. Or maybe I did that. Hmmm. Must log into the bank and look.)

Ouch re. MrA's shredded arm. (I'm imagining a Monty Python & Holy Grail 'Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog' situation.) Confused Grin Fingers crossed (and bandaged) for the remainder of the antibiotics. The things we put up with for our pets...!

Your snow looks very scenic on FB Wicked Grin - long may it stay that way before it turns into annoying brown slush.

Hope that all is ok with Fancy and the stressful parent situation Sad

LetUsPrey · 24/12/2023 07:39

Morning wenches. Happy Christmas Eve!

Today will be mostly listening to DH about everything he has to do today, and then when he’s doing it, and then when he’s done it as we’re hosting my parents and uncle tomorrow. Obviously very grateful for everything he does but ssssshhhhhhhh for some of it,

I will be washing and ironing, tidying/hiding stuff in the back bedroom, knitting.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/12/2023 09:04

Morning all. Today we have Operation Argh! This will involve Everything Everywhere All At Once. (I haven't seen this film, but the title feels relevant. We need to finish packing, load the car, clean out the chickens (oops, meant to do that yesterday) and drive to InLaws... DH wants to leave by 11am. It won't happen and he will get v.v. stressed and grumpy, so I will grouch back at him, and we will all drive off in his car in an atmosphere of seething irritation. Joy.

Send Valium and Athos...

Happy Xmas eve though - hope that you have a lovely day Wicked and there are lots of nice presents and food!

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/12/2023 09:05

Also, the flooding has gone down a bit again - hurrah.
