Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

-7 here and pitch black. Nice landladies and I are competing about who sets up most decoration lights outdoors, our goal is to be seen from space Grin

Hope you feel better today Letus.

Yay for car passing MOT Apes.

Hope your family problems get solved Fancy.

I wouldn't mind a hot chocolate Helen ☕

LetUsPrey · 21/11/2023 20:12

Evening wenches.

Helped enormously Helen, thank you.

Stress ickness did go away. Fecking hate it though. Stupid thing.

Pleased everything went off smoothly for you Apricot.

<checks hot chocolate stocks>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/11/2023 21:42

Evening all.

<arf> at xmas lights from space wicked Grin. We've done nothing about ours.
Hurrah for the day going smoothly Apricot

In today's Parenting101 fail, this was today's mid-afternoon text exchange:
DS: am I going on the school trip.
Me: I think so - I paid. When is it?
DS: TODAY
Me: <fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck?! checks emails> Yes, you are.

I checked my emails to find one from school this morning confirming what time they were leaving for an evening trip, but this was the first email I'd had from school since the initial "We're arranging this trip on a 1st come, 1st served" basis. So I'd paid, but there'd never been any confirmation he was going. I have to stop waiting for school to tell me what's going on and just ask. <le enormous, irritated sigh> Now I have to stay up late to pick him up when they're back. (Though after that awful story form Wales, I'm just grateful to have him about to need picking up Sad )

Morning wenches.

Gave DS2 extra hugs when I got home and last night Helen (even when he’d been a rude attitude filled PITA)

And FGS at lack of communication from school.

What’s that glow I can see? Seems to be from the north east sort of direction. Bit twinkly, like Christmas lights Grin

Stupid eyes are playing up again. Equally stupidly I’ve done nothing proactive about it.

Have good days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/11/2023 07:41

Morning all. Cracking sunrise this morning - all deep, vivid red/pink/orange fading to lilac and gold. Almost worth getting up for if only I could go back to bed afterwards Grin.

Dr Aramis will give you a through eye examination LetUs - he'll probably have to check everything else as well in case there's a secondary cause. Grin

ApricotCrush · 22/11/2023 16:29

Afternoon. Lovely sunrise here too, I don’t usually see it this time of year.

Grin at Christmas lights from space.

I’m the same with my eyes LetUs. I can’t open them in the night, not because they’re stuck down but because they’re so sore. I think it’s dry eyes but like you I’ve done nothing about it in spite of Specsavers writing to me regularly to make an appointment. Hmm

Hope MiniHelen enjoyed his surprise trip..

Sad at the crash in Wales, some of those roads are terrifying.

LetUsPrey · 22/11/2023 18:51

Evening wenches.

Your sunrises sound beautiful.

Such thoroughness is so important. After all, one’s health is vital.

Sort of glad I’m not the only one prevaricating about going to the optician.

Felt a bit rubbish for most of the day so took advantage of the early finish and had a bath’n’book when I got home.

LetUsPrey · 23/11/2023 07:28

Morning wenches.

It all looks very grey outside, and I can hear that it’s very windy.

Seem to have slept all the way through but mad dreams so feeling all urgh and ick. Still no lottery jackpot win which is very inconsiderate, so on we plod.

Must start getting properly organised with birthday and Christmas stuff. Although am actually looking forward to buying for three family babies who weren’t here last Christmas!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/11/2023 07:38

Ooooooooh, that's all a bit spooky - DH had cramp in the middle of the night , so obviously I got woken up. But my eyes felt stuck shut and It was a real effort to force them open because they felt dry too. It's a thing Shock

I should go to bed... (as the cat lands on my lap Hmm)

(I mean to post that last night, but at least my computer held onto it and didn't delete it. Though then it wouldn't post until I refreshed the screen)

Last night's mad dream involved moving to Australia, and staying with another friend (who doesn't actually live there) while DS went skiing Hmm and I tried to work out what to do about school (one school had children sitting on the floor drawing and playing which surprised me, but I was told that no, this is how you do GCSEs). Then I think DH might have changed his mind about the whole thing and decided that we should come back. Confused

Sunrise this morning wasn't as dramatic - not many clouds to reflect the light, but I saw some looking a nice shade of pink. It sounded windy when I woke up, but trees aren't waving about too much.

Hope everywench has a good day. I need to feed chickens...

Afternoon
Parent problems continue to rumble on, feeling like our hands are tied because we have to wait for them to make the decisions <sighs>

Really need to get organised and order some advent calendars for the family & start think about Christmas before time runs away with me!

ApricotCrush · 23/11/2023 16:57

Afternoon. Lovely day here. I had the window open to get some sun on my face, it’s supposed to help with the winter blues.

How lovely to have three new babies to buy for LetUs. Smile

That’s weird about your eyes Helen. Bonkers dream.

That’s a shame Fancy, hope it all gets sorted soon.

LetUsPrey · 23/11/2023 20:42

Evening wenches.

Baaaaatttttshiiiiiit dream Helen Grin

<passes eye spray to Helen>

Oh Fancy, sounds so tricky and tiring. Hope you can make some progress soon.

Hope the sunshine had a beneficial effect Apricot.

We’ve had wind and rain here. Watching Shetland now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/11/2023 21:49

<cwtch> to Fancy re. parent problems.

Weather was cloudy here with some sun and then drizzle this evening. Mostly work today with a small amount of exercise. DH has started doing some cooking again - hurrah. Though he's still in the sling.

DS is starting to stress over mocks (next week) and actually reading through revision cards.

We've binged on the first two episodes of Lazarus Project tonight, and melted our minds trying to talk about time loops, etc.

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2023 07:28

Morning wenches.

Dark but Friday. Hurrah!

Good news re MrHelen’s continued recovery. Less good re MiniHelen stressing. You have my sympathies.

DS2 actually let me know what he’d like for Christmas and even better it’s on a proper Black Friday reduction so I’m happy with that. The list-making <nto> will start in earnest today, although not when I’m at work obviously because that would be wrong.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2023 08:08

Morning. Dark and cloudy here too when I got up. But there's a bit of blue sky just now. Not sure how long that will last because the clouds seem to be rolling into that space rather quickly.

I have no idea re. xmas lists and presents. Doooooooooooooooom.

Still. Happy Friday Grin

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 24/11/2023 17:15

Afternoon. Pleasant day with a pretty sunset over the back of the houses.

Great that MrHelen is cooking again. We tried the first episode of season 1 of the Lazarus Project but I wasn’t keen, should I persevere?

Ditto Shetland, it’s just not the same without Jimmy. Sad Perhaps I’m hard to please. We’re watching season 2 of The Newsreader (i-Player) which I love.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

LetUsPrey · 24/11/2023 21:08

Evening wenches.

Fecking hell it’s gone quite chilly.

Work was worky. Have done a little bit of knitting. We’re now watching second episode of series 1 of Shetland, and then I’m going to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/11/2023 21:09

Evening. Today has been full of cold wintery showers. Brrr, etc. Also full of spreadsheeting. hurrah Hmm

If you didn't like series one then there's probably not much point in watching series 2 Apricot

Morning Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark. again. Very utilitarian sunrise this morning. I can imagine the sun - "Right, huuuuuuuup. Sorted. None of those fancy<nto> colours. Job done."

In other news, the dark water is riding. FFS.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/11/2023 09:48

Morning wenches.

Grin at straightforward sunrise.

Oh fucksake at water levels Helen.

Have had my hair cut and am off to meet BestFriend shortly. Card buying later this afternoon. Observe my festive spirit.

ApricotCrush · 25/11/2023 16:39

Afternoon. It's daaaaaark. Lovely day but very cold with a frost this morning.

I did a wash earlier which is draped round the radiators and since then I've been mostly sewing up the jumper which I hate doing. Still, nearly there. Then comes the trying on which is always a mystery because sometimes it either doesn't fit or I don't like it which is rather disappointing. But it's the knitting that matters.

Hope the card buying went well LetUs and the water levels sort themselves out Helen.

LetUsPrey · 25/11/2023 20:11

Evening wenches.

Card buying happened, just have to write the sodding things now. Festive!

Tried my hand at fair isle knitting today. Sort of got the hang of it but not quite so I’ll start with it again in a few days.

Watching Strictly, go and pick DH up from an evening out, and then go to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/11/2023 21:57

Hurrah for card buying. I've got a bit of present shopping done in between being a taxi and watching SportingActivity. which took up the vast majority of the day.

Have just watched Doctor Who with DS. It was... ok?

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 26/11/2023 08:29

Morning wenches.

Have recorded it Helen. Not sure if I’ll watch or not.

No frost on the cars this morning so that’s good. Usual Sunday ahead.

Hope wenches have restful days.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/11/2023 10:32

Morning. It's grey and miserable outside. I am tired and achey <whinge> I have to do garden things today, but I currently can't be arsed.

Doctor Who was good, but the end of the episode felt a bit Hmm and I can't understand how [spoiler] worked either. So I might have to watch that bit again.
