Evening wenches.

Back home after a three hour delay on the motorway on the way home.

That’s such fantastic news Wicked about the lump! I’ll ignore the back to work bit.

Yesterday was much better weatherwise although by that stage things had got rather muddy. So the last minute decision to take my walking boots was definitely a good one. We’ve had a brilliant time, full of music and comedy, good food (especially on the Friday when we did a special dinner thing which was flipping delicious), and quite a bit of wine. Back to reality tomorrow though. We’re already planning which one or ones we want to go to next year Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/07/2023 22:55

FML, my laptop has stopped working again - won't even load up. Asked DH to look at it... he's clearly forgotten, so because I'm mature and completely grown up I'm refusing to remind him and playing the martyr. Hmm <drop-kicks nose into a black hole to spite my face>
(I've logged onto the desktop before I fall into bed.)

Glad you had a good time LetUs - I shall have to get top tips off you for festivalling at our age Grin

LetUsPrey · 25/07/2023 07:48

Morning wenches.

Ohhh I know exactly where you’re coming from with the martyr well I’m not reminding you again why should I stance Helen.

Top tip - stay in a motorhome off site Grin

Anyway, back to reality today. Hope everywench can stay dry.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/07/2023 09:53

Oh me of little faith. DH looked at my laptop after I went to bed. Which wasn't ideal from my perspective but he looked at it and then came to tell me about it (when I was trying to get to sleep <le sigh>) It's sounding not very good, so I need to check when I got it and the warrenty etc. <le sigh, again>

Dry and sunny here so far, long may it stay that way since I have damp washing outside trying to dry off.

FancyFancy · 25/07/2023 13:12

Afternoon.

yay for your good news ww, that's fabulous!

Athletics was fab thanks - seemed to be more female events than male - well there were a couple of good male throwing events, but they're not really my type. So in short, no thigh ratings. It didn't spoil the afternoon though, and neither did the monumentally annoying brat sat next to DD. Brat finally left early, for which I'd like to take some credit, as after ignoring her mother trying to get her to leave, it only took about 2 minutes of me giving her a hard stare for her to fuck off. Job done. Which was a relief - I was starting to think about grabbing her phone and attempting a stadium record for mobile throwing. By that stage DD was hooting with laughter at the epic eyerolls being exchanged between me & fab lady in front - accordingly too DD 'she wouldn't have took shit like that from her kid - like you she'd have just picked her up & carried her out' Grin

Spent yesterday with FancyMan - weather was a bit dodgy so we had a lazy day & did a bit of excursion planning for our holiday.

ApricotCrush · 25/07/2023 17:42

Afternoon. Quite a nice day but I didn' do any washing as the forecast wasn't good.Hmm

Glad you had a good time LetUs and that Fancy enjoyed the athletics. Grin at mobile throwing.

Not so good about the laptop though Helen.

We're going to the pub for a meal with DD & Co now.

LOL at Paddington Bear Stares at the monumentally annoying brat

I got some of yesterdays' damp washing out, and then - astonishingly, noticed that there was an Armageddon-style cloud approaching, and got it back in before the rain hit Shock.

If I don't get to a working computer later, hope everyone has a good night. I may be forced to work out how to use MN on my phone... [horror]

LetUsPrey · 25/07/2023 19:44

Evening wenches.

<snooooort> at new athletic event of mobile throwing

Flipsake at laptop problems Helen. Hope it’s sorted relatively quickly to enable continuing MNing.

Put washing out this morning with instructions to DS2 to bring it in before forecast rain at 3. Instead it rained before 11 but they bring it in before it got too soaked and did a good job of draping over stuff to let it dry. I’ve done another when I’ve got home and just realised I need to bring it in as I think there’s rain again overnight.

Hope you’ve had a delicious meal out Apricot.

FancyFancy · 25/07/2023 20:30

Grin I reckon record or not, all the people around me would've given me a standing ovation if I'd chucked it.

Mercifully little rain here today, which was a relief as I got washing done & dried - hadn't done any for ages & was starting to run out of socks.

Do hard stares work on computers helen <glares hopefully>

Forgot the most erm, exciting bit of yesterday. A butter-fingered red kite dropped a large rat on the patio. Well, judging by the sound it may have dropped it on the roof & then it bounced down. Anyhow it was big and dead. So we moved it onto the lawn in the hope we'd get to see the red kite swoop down in the garden to get it. And waited. And waited a bit more as we could hear it circling and calling. Finally in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment it did return for it - swooping majestically down, picking up the rat without landing & swooping back up over the fence & next-door's garden. Where it dropped the bloody thing again. So I had to trot next door to warn them before their dog ate it. <eyerolls>

LetUsPrey · 26/07/2023 07:41

Morning wenches.

That does sound interesting to watch Fancy. Like a more real wildlife documentary. Bird drops rat which bounces off a roof. Swoops down for it with grace. Drops it again, probably with a splat, with someone shouting “don’t let the dog get it!” You don’t see that on BBC1 Grin

It appears to be Wednesday. Weather is being unpredictable as different forecasts all tell a different tale.

FancyFancy · 26/07/2023 13:40

Grin letus you can add in some comedy scenes of FancyCat trying to squeeze out of any door or window that she didn't think was completely shut.....

ApricotCrush · 26/07/2023 17:09

Afternoon. It was quite pleasant earlier and I sat outside for an hour. It’s back to normal and raining now. Hmm

Love the wildlife episode in the garden Fancy. There’s a red kite feeding station not far from the caravan. It’s a nice walk and fascinating when they all come flying in and swooping for the food.

Hope you can get the laptop sorted Helen.

Evening wenches.

I am so sick of it raining. Just fuck off, especially when I want to get my washing dry. Asked DS1 to put a wash on which he did when asked. He said as soon as he set foot outside to put it out, it started raining and it’s barely stopped since.

<adopts wildlife narrator voice> and, if you look carefully, in the background you may be able to see a cat, quite a fancy one, trying to find her way out of the house. How long before she finds an available exit? And if you look even more closely, you can see the cat’s servant watching either athletics or cycling in an enthusiastic manner.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/07/2023 19:18

Greetings wenchez! i am on the tablet and can't be arsed about correcting typos caused by my typing a touch-screen keyboard.

Excellent wildlifing fancy with added excitement form FancyCat. KillerKitty has just tried to muscle in on the action by killing a poor little goldfinch Sad we raced outside when I saw him get a Bird but it was beyond surviving. Sad Sad Sad FFS at the rain for everyone else.

the laptop is going to see local computer bod tomorrow to try and get my files off before I ship it off elsewhere under warranty. I almost hope it's terminal so I can get a replacement that doesn't keep losing its internet driver. (I'm getting the hang of this keyboRD (or not) it does predictive text too. I shall try it out.

Wenches and I am not sure if I can confirm that the same as the last time I am not sure if I can 🥫
Well we can safely say that the predictive text isn't going to take over the world Grin

LetUsPrey · 26/07/2023 20:17

Thoughts and prayers for whichever way you want your laptop to go Helen.

We have intermittent predictive text at work. Just as it kicks in and starts getting things right, it stops predicting.

Patagonia is on BBC4 right now. CHICK JEOPARDY!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/07/2023 20:30

Poooomas!

FancyFancy · 26/07/2023 20:36

NOT THE FLUFFY DUCKLING? Shock <is traumatised>

LetUsPrey · 27/07/2023 07:35

Morning wenches.

There were no poooooomas in the bit I saw unfortunately. Had to turn over from fluffy chick in peril, despite knowing outcome because I couldn’t cope with the jeopardy Grin

Guess what? It’s raining. Still fucking raining. Obviously don’t want scorchio temperatures but fucksake. And I had the worst night’s sleep I’ve had for ages.

<stomps about>
<kicks things>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/07/2023 09:50

Morning all. Still raining here too. I have been clearing out a USB stick in the hopes that my laptop files can be retrieved onto it. I ought to crack on with work now really.

<passes matchstick and umbrella to LetUs>

ApricotCrush · 27/07/2023 17:01

Afternoon. Dull this morning but it’s gone nice now. Don’t suppose it will last until tomorrow.

Well, I’ve had an interesting afternoon. DD asked me if I’d like to go with her and DGS to see the Barbie movie, so in an attempt to relieve the boredom I said I would. It’s the sort of film that I enjoy when they’re over. I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything quite like it in my entire life but Ryan Gosling has a great body.

Lol at the wildlife commentary.

Good luck with the laptop Helen.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 27/07/2023 19:45

Evening wenches.

I do quite fancy the Barbie film but I’m not sure I’m prepared to spend the quite spendy amount of a cinema ticket on it and the ice cream

It’s actually stopped raining. I’m knackered and have a sore throat so I’m going to take some painkillers and go to bed early in the vain hope I’ll actually get to sleep without having to lie there for over two hours.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/07/2023 21:46

Evening all. So my laptop hard drive is officially buggered, but local computer Dr did get my files off it, so that was good. Now I have to send it off under warranty and work with the touchscreen keyboard and this tablet has an intermittently faulty internet driver too, for however long. <le enormous sigh>

Barbie does look like fun, but also, yes to the cost of cinema tickets. arf at Ryan Gosling/plastic doll appreciation.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/07/2023 21:49

Oh - twitter says that the next Strike series starts filming in the First 1/4 of next year.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/07/2023 07:29

morning wenches. its cloudy outside and dry. also less muggy than yesterday which is a relief. though there's plenty of day left for that to change!

was up later that I'd have liked last night, working, so now I'm tiiiiired. <winge>

hope everyone has a Good day. tfi and all that.

maybe we should have an impromptu meet-up to watch Barbie. Apricot could revisit her assessment of Ryan Gosling's attributes. In depth research and all that Grin

LetUsPrey · 28/07/2023 07:34

Morning wenches.

Wenches for science and research and in-depth assessments <tae>!!

Shockingly it doesn’t seem to be raining.

Hurrah for getting the files off the laptop but boo for other tech issues.

I’ve slept a bit better but my throat and head would like me to stay at home. Friday though so we shall say how the day goes once I’ve got going.

Already looking forward to Strike
