Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Afternoon. Haven’t really looked at the weather today but it’s still cold.

DS came round with the DGC this afternoon and DD popped in too which was nice. It seems DGD has a potential boyfriend; gosh they grow up terrifyingly quickly. Shock

Nice for you to visit DD’s new flat Fancy, it’s good to see them settled. No, no clambering on the caravan roof.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/03/2023 17:54

Evening all. I have been gardening all day. I borrowed DF's amazing metal spade and OMG, the revelation. We've broken spades before now, trying to dig out brambles and I've just yomped through the hedge getting them out. I am a bit broken now - I may have overdone it. I will be snorkelling in the bath later. A massage would be nice too <looks hopefully at HBFs>

Evening wenches.

Quite chilly here too. We have sleet forecast in the week I think, but thankfully no snow.

Eeeek at DGD potentially having a boyfriend!

Hurrah for spade revelation Helen! Enjoy the bath. HBFs have been limbering up.

Usual Sunday stuff with added crappy behaviour from DS2. Sigh.

FancyFancy · 05/03/2023 21:22

I've also been out in the garden - cleaning the bird feeder and tidying up patio pots. It is chilly, just the evening for watching Downton with a cup of tea, cuddled up to FancyCat.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 05/03/2023 21:37

Oh yes - weather, brrr! We had rain on and off, and hail/sleet. My coat is hanging to dry in front of the fire. There's more coming this week I think? Snow maybe? Not sure exactly how much/what weather is happening here, from the generic snow/cold/doom weather forecast I've heard about.

It's very disconcerting, how DCs and GDCs get older Confused I mean, good and all, but disconcerting. I really should do the bath thing. We've been watching Sandman and it's very good Grin

Morning wenches.

Still can’t get my head round that DS2 can apply for a provisional driving licence this year.

Sounds a perfect evening Fancy.

Awake early again after a not great sleep. So bored of it. And Monday can already do one.

<sits next to Tav fire in a sulk>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/03/2023 08:35

Morning all. <lobs LetUs into hayloft and adds HBFs>

Cold start with a ground frost. Birds are birding, cats are catting, and DS has presumably made it to school despite cutting it fine for the bus. I have lots of work to do, and I should put washing on... meh. To both of those.

Morning. Have overslept - we have a power cut so my alarm didn't go off <harrumphs> fortunately whatever damaged the power cables <side eyes local building works> did so after the heating had switched off for the morning so the house is warm. Not sure on the hot water though, it may be a lukewarm shower. And a quick one!

ApricotCrush · 06/03/2023 16:59

Afternoon. I did a food shop this morning and then went a walk round the road. It was biting cold but we haven’t had a frost, although snow is forecast for Thursday.

Hope shower wasn’t too cold Fancy.

LetUsPrey · 06/03/2023 18:26

Evening wenches.

What a shitty shitter of a day but work is done for the day. Which is definitely where I’ve been and I haven’t been hiding in the hayloft.

We also have snow forecast for Thursday. Bollocks to that.

That’s annoying about the power cut Fancy. Hope you got a decent shower.

I’m up to the start of series 5 of Downton Abbey, but ITV3 have put it on again from the beginning. I love seeing the difference in the fashions from when it started in 1912 to around 1923 where they are now.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 06/03/2023 21:44

Evening all. It has been cold. But the I lit a fire this evening and now it's a bit OTT hot - or it is given that I'm wearing my thick fluffy hooded fleece. (I bet if Grimaud had had one of these to keep warm in, instead of his grubby black cloak he'd have been a lot happier and less psychopathic.)

I have done not very much apart from work, so obviously I'm pooped. I'm going to wordle and then hopefully have an early night.

Hope that it's a bit less shit tomorrow LetUs, and that everyone keeps warmer tomorrow.

Morning all. Cold but not icy here. I've sent the HBFs out to smoulder any snow and ice away elsewhere. There' is also a selection of coats available...

Morning wenches.

Is it summer already? I was expecting iced over cars and stuff but it all seems to have melted away and the temperature has shot up. Grin That was a manky cloak that Grimaud wore wasn’t it?

By coincidence we had a power cut overnight around 3. Didn’t last long apparently but resulted in house alarms along the street going off when the power came back on. And they went on for ages. So that was fun trying to get back to sleep.

FancyFancy · 07/03/2023 12:55

Afternoon
Just had a flurry of sleet here, hope that doesn't freeze later.

The power came back on late afternoon which was a relief - just in time for the heating to come on and then to cook dinner. The nice hot shower this morning was particularly welcome after yesterday's rather lukewarm one.

Ho hum at being back at work, nice to see everyone but have been looking forward to home time since about....ooooh, 11am Grin

ApricotCrush · 07/03/2023 16:34

Afternoon, sunny day, but still cold. Bugger all going on here. I'm trying to do some mending with a cat on my lap pushing everything out of the way. Hmm

Oh dear Helen, that's a bit unfair of the school bus.

Power cuts are annoying. All the clocks have to be reset as well, I hate that happening.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 07/03/2023 17:43

We cancelled dinner out tonight because there's supposed to be snow chaos. Still haven't seen a single snow flake Hmm

How annoying about the house alarms Letus Angry

Fried herring tonight instead of thai buffé 😋

LetUsPrey · 07/03/2023 19:31

Evening wenches.

Thank goodness for power coming back on just in time Fancy.

Good of the cat to offer to help with the mending Apricot.

Hope you enjoy the fried herring Wicked and the snow stays away. The latter part goes for everyone.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 07/03/2023 21:19

Evening all.

We have also had sleety hail-ish snow, which has frozen to my windscreen. I've stuck a windscreen cover on it, but I think I may be a bit late on that front.

Hope that there's no power cuts or alarms tonight LetUs. Or snow for that matter.

LetUsPrey · 08/03/2023 07:22

Morning wenches.

No more power cuts or anything. Still awake from 4. And not for any fun reasons either. Just awake.

<burrows into blankets>

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/03/2023 07:37

Morning all. Bit cold and crispy here, but I think the worst of the frost and ice happened before midnight. DS left in time for the bus this morning (rather than on the nose, to be there at the same time as the bus arrives), and ran off down the road after and initial check of it, so it's (hopefully) just wet - not sheet ice.

I've done that thing where the tap sticks when you turn it on, then it unsticks and water goes everywhere. My dressing gown is a bit soggy Confused. Off to BoringOfficeJobtoday.

Brew and [matchsticks] all round. 4am can FTFO LetUs

I think we have your snow here ww <glares out the window>

Am working at home today - am trying to keep the heating off so it's chillier than the office, but at least I don't have to worry about the potential for ice later.

ApricotCrush · 08/03/2023 16:34

Afternoon. We’ve had snow all day here too, but fortunately it’s not sticking.

Shame about your meal out WW.

I’ve had the heating off all day but DGS has arrived and says he’s cold so I’ve turned it up.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/03/2023 18:19

Evening all.

We've had flurries of snow here, but nothing to speak of. Cold though - went out for a lunchtime walk and my face was numb when we got back. DH has had the fire lit all day at home. Brrrr. etc.

I'm also tired and planning and early night. So I'll be doing wordle at 11:30pm...

OP posts:
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 08/03/2023 18:27

Started snowing yesterday evening and also today but it’s also been extremely windy so maybe most of it blew away? It’s been chaos in other parts of Sweden though.
