I went out just before bed last night and peered at the northwestern horizon which seemed lighter than usual, and there was a green tinge to one of the clouds. Not exactly spectacular but there were some cracking views in Scotland. I don't think the weather is quite sure what it wants to do today - it's sunny and also cloudy and could go either, or both ways.

Today's tasks include shopping, since we're completely out of milk (oops).

Afternoon. Cloudy and cold. I’ve been quite productive today with housework and general shopping.

I didn’t know about the northern lights until this morning, but I’ve never seen them here. Or anywhere else for that matter.

DH is going to karate with DGS later, so that means fish and chips.

Evening all. I went back to bed for a norther snooze after DS went to school - woke up to bright daylight and levitated out of bed with a sudden 'Oh Shit!!' because I'd forgotten that I'd already got up and got DS off to school (I thought we'd all slept in). So that got me up with a jolt

We have been watching TV. There's clouds here tonight as well - DH did pop out for a look, but said it's no better than yesterday so I haven't bothered walking over the road miles for a view.

Evening. No sightings of the northern lights here either, not sure why as some places further south did.

Have been busy today - blood test, shops, cleaning, bit of gardening and batch cooked shepherd's pie. Am now relaxing with some Downton Abbey and plan to do the absolute minimum of chores tomorrow.

tbh, the southern views of the Aurora - of the photos, have relied on long exposure shots to show up any colour, so the views to look at haven't looed much like the photos that have been posted. I did go out again last night and it just looked like light pollution to the naked eye.

Killer Kitty is living up to his name and starting to take out the local blackbirds who are too thick to watch out for him (or too busy fighting, in the case of the males). So I'm having to dispose of the evidence to stop DH getting angry about it all.

Haven't been out to feed the chickens yet (because of the cat/lap situation) - one of them's been a bit under the weather, but seemed to be perking up yesterday - fingers crossed!

Also grey here but don’t care as not in work. DS2 has hospital appointment this afternoon which means missing school which is less than ideal but appointment couldn’t be rearranged. I shall whizz round doing house stuff and ironing first thing and then feet up until DS2 comes home and we have to go out.

Yay for DS2 getting to school ok letus and boo for dead blackbirds Helen. That also makes sense re the northern lights. DD and I went to the top floor of the local car park to get a better view of the sky and it was definitely lighter to the NE, but just looked like low cloud and light pollution, so who knows?

Hospital appointment itself went well. Got there 20 minutes early (appt at 2) but couldn’t park. Drove repeatedly round the two available car parks, along with every other fucker, trying to park. Got to the point of making DS2 get out of the car and go into the hospital on his own whilst I carried on trying to park. He wasn’t keen but went (which was actually a big thing for him). At gone 2.30 I text NiceColleague just as a sort of fucksake message. She then reminded me her parents live a 5/10 minute walk from the hospital, she’d phone them to let them know I was parking at theirs. Fuck me what a godsend. Got to the hospital at 2.45. They saw him at 3.15. It was a fairly stressy experience to be honest, but is done.
