Thread 173 Shock. Break out the duvets and huddle round the scorching hot brazier HBF-of-choice.

Yet more domestic drivel and shameless perving.

Glad you had a good time Letus, you deserve it 😀

I've been to the supermarket, the highlight of my week Grin I have to confess that I get a little giddy when there's a good deal on something, like this week a good price on potatoes. Rock'n roll Grin

Pottered around my house, just love it here Smile

Hope all wenches has a lovely day Smile

FancyFancy · 18/02/2023 14:05

No need to feel embarrassed about loving a bargain ww - it's those small pleasures that make life more enjoyable! We found a very nice bottle of french pink on offer yesterday - tastes even nicer for being a bargain 😁

Have been out to pick up my new glasses - varifocals. They were very expensive, so hope I get on well with them. So far they are better than I was expecting, but I haven't had them on long, nor done much other than some MNing. The test will be going down the stairs!

ApricotCrush · 18/02/2023 16:07

Afternoon wenches. Miserable day. DH has been up on the roof again discovering all sorts of problems. Hmm

I’ve finished my jumper and am now bored because I don’t know what to knit next. I’ve looked at my various Plan B’s (or WIPs as they’re known as in the knitting world) but couldn’t get any inspiration for them.

Glad you had a good evening LetUs and yay for bargains WW.

I tried varifocals a few years ago Fancy but couldn’t get on with them. It may have been because I’d got a cataract which the optometrist failed to see. Shock After I saw a consultant about it I complained to the opticians and they gave me a refund.

LetUsPrey · 18/02/2023 20:30

Evening wenches.

A bargain on something you usually get is a definite bonus! You do sound happy in your new home Wicked Smile

Hope the varifocals are doing the trick Fancy and you’ve negotiated the stairs safely.

I’ve finished the project I was doing to Apricot, save for sewing it up. I’ve picked up the hat I was doing but, like you, don’t seem to be loving it. Need to make myself finish it though.

Have been and had some baby cuddles tonight.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2023 05:12

Bonsoir wenches. Hurrah for les bargains Wicked et for loving your house, which is a very warm happy feeling Smile Boo to the roof Apricot - flat roofs are un sod for having les problems. Aww at squishy baby cuddles LetUs, and fingers crossed for Fancy's glasses.

FML, etc.) Donc, l'apres midi, je waved them off pour le piste de ridiculously hard, et bumbled up et down un petit ski lift et associated easier runs, et j'ai un much more enjoyable temps. Now je need to pack. Dooooooooooom.

<adds eye tests for Fancy>

Morning wenches.

C’est sounds like un day tres mixed Helen. Je can understand que tu would be un petit put out a la lack d’uniformes rouge et les chevaux. Je suis tres impresse de tout ton skiing, parce que je would be tres rubbish even sur les petit runs.

Very Sunday so far here. DS2 being a bit of a ratbag and I have the it’s Monday tomorrow blahs.

ApricotCrush · 19/02/2023 17:14

Afternoon. Lovely day. I went into town to stock up on some bits and pieces. I also looked at all the bras and knickers in M&S to spend my voucher, but didn’t find anything I liked. Sad. I forgot to look for wool to inspire me with the knitting too although I don’t think we have any wool shops left in town now.

Votre vacance has gone tres vite Helen.

Have a good evening all.

LetUsPrey · 19/02/2023 21:09

Evening wenches.

Ooooo Due South Apricot! Also used to love that. So important to have many and varied interests Grin

Usual Sunday. Have finished knitting another project that I had on the go. I’ve even part sewn it up. Have got another thing ready to go which should keep me going to when another pregnant relative has a scan and finds out what she’s having. I’ve my eye on a rather lovely sparkly baby yarn.

It’s been a while since I looked at M&S and was spoiled for choice. Hope you find something Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 19/02/2023 21:42

Bonjour.

Morning wenches.

<mucks out the cats>
<collects eggs>
<grooms chickens>

ApricotCrush · 20/02/2023 16:49

Afternoon. Nice day again. I tried to go to Lidl this morning, but the garage door wouldn’t open. I like to go out when DH isn’t here because I don’t have to wait for him to move his car as it’s a bit of a tight squeeze in the garage. Anyway he’s sorted it now. First world problems.

Etes-vous back maintenant Helen. Je suis sure les chats sont looking forward to voir vous aussie mais ils have been dans bon mains. Hmm

You are busy with your knitting LetUs. I’ve still got knitters block. Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 20/02/2023 17:50

Wine on offer Fancy, that's amazing! Envy

I have varifocals, or if it's bifocals, it's at totally different name in Swedish so I'm not sure, but anyway I misjudged the location of a step on the stairs and fell and hurt my knee Confused

Hope you find something to use your voucher on Apes Smile I will bring an extra suitcase for everything I intend to buy in the foodhall at M&S Grin

Hope your Monday was ok Letus.

LetUsPrey · 20/02/2023 19:32

Evening wenches.

At least if Fancy overdoes the on offer pink, she can blame her new varifocals Grin

I prescribe a visit to a large yarn shop Apricot, preferably one with a tearoom, to seek inspiration and cake

Hope your knee’s okay Wicked (if this was a recent incident)

I’m absolutely knackered and my legs and feet ache.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/02/2023 21:00

Evening wenches I am home/knackered. DS is already grumbling about having to go to school tomorrow.

Cats were delighted to see us - CuteKitty was all cuddly for 15 minutes, then went into KillerKitty mode. IntelligentCat is curled up on me, purring.

FancyFancy · 20/02/2023 23:16

Evening. No I haven't broken my neck going down the stairs in my new varifocals 😁Have been pleasantly surprised by them so far, the optician did say that 'experienced glasses wearers' i.e. those of us who've been blind as bats for years often get in with them better. Haven't tried driving in them yet. In fact the only time I've worn them outside so far is pottering round the garden yesterday. I will need to test them out using Helen's eye test when I next wear them. Repeatedly. I like to be thorough.

What is the actual point of the Mounties without the uniform or the horses?!

LetUsPrey · 21/02/2023 07:35

Morning wenches.

Better reception than we used to get from LetUsCat. If a cat could give you the middle finger/claw, he’d have been doing that. Hope MiniHelen gets to school okay with minimal whinging to you Helen.

It is so very important to take a very thorough approach Fancy, particularly with one’s eyesight. Extra thoroughness I’d say.

Right then Tuesday, what have you got lined up?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2023 07:55

Morning all. DS grumbled and dragged his feet out of the door. He hasn't come back, so I assume he got the bus ok.

It's grey and uninspiring outside - I'm trying to resist the temptation to go back to bed until I have to get up for work. It's not like it would be unusual, so I can't entirely blame jet lag.

No other news - the chickens seem well groomed though, and the cats seem to be demanding some sort of walk? Grin

<adds an additional eye test for Fancy to demonstrate why Mounties would be better wearing their red uniforms>

Afternoon. Grey and cloudy day here.

I’ve googled and we don’t seem to have any of those type of yarn shops around here sadly LetUs. Might have to go further afield.

Hope MiniHelen had a good day back. It’s half-term this week here but we haven’t got DGS as DD has taken some annual leave.

Love the eye tests. Grin

LetUsPrey · 21/02/2023 19:43

Evening wenches.

Well that’s just selfish of that area Apricot. You deserve to have something like that.

That’s positively scientific that eye test Helen.

DS2 being a bit of a pain re revision and homework. He’s off all day with DH but barely anything’s getting done.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/02/2023 22:34

Evening all.

We are all awake and survived the day, though DS has been a bit of a grot-bag/KevinTheTeenager. He texted from school to say that he hates me because he missed handing homework in and got a detention Hmm (to be fair, he also followed that up with hating himself, the subject and the teacher). He also still refuses to do the homework when it's set and still plans to wait until the last minute to get other homework done Hmm Happy days...

Today I have mostly worked and done multiple loads of washing. And a food shop. I know how to live Grin

Hope everyone's had a good day <lobs yarn Cake Brew Wine Gin [HBFs] at wenches> I need to make lunch for tomorrow. Dooom.

(Adds one last eye test for Fancy)

Morning. Tired. Urgh. Weather is overcast and grey and damp, so that's not help much either.

DS has staggered out the door to school and I need to do similar for work. Have a good day all.
<slumps on sofa gazing vacantly at nothing>

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 22/02/2023 07:57

Morning wenches.

Urgh the MiniHelen situation sounds all too familiar. You have my sympathy.

After all these eye tests, Fancy’s either going to have perfect vision or real life will be a bit blurry because she keeps glazing over Grin

We have rain here. Short day though which is something.

ApricotCrush · 22/02/2023 16:42

Afternoon. April showers in February today, some quite heavy.

I think I’ve found something for one of the plan B knits. I’m plotting it out on graph paper to see if it will work. Hmm

I’m going cross-eyed trying to find the third difference in those pics of AT. I recall not being able to find it last time it was posted. Grin

LetUsPrey · 22/02/2023 18:55

Evening wenches.

Keep studying Apricot. It’s scientific Grin

In awe of you plotting out knitting on graph paper. I’ve just buggered up a row twice and I’m not even on a complicated bit yet.

Rain here too. It seemed to follow me all the way home from work.

Considering bath’n’book later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/02/2023 22:13

Evening. I have had a long day of spreadsheets. The weather has been mostly cloudy, and a bit damp. There is nothing of interest to report, except that Intelligent Cat is curled up on my lap Smile I should turf her off and go to bed though Sad
